Managing Monday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

It's the Monday after a long U.S. weekend and I need to be managing my day, my time, my energy. How is our corner of the village coping with temps, weather, home duties, and family? The weekend has seemed slightly over the top, so here's a chance to settle, to look at progress and goals, and move forward.

Manage the day, don't let it manage you!

Thank you for starting us off on this Monday morning Twins' Mom!!

It's another overcast day here, but that's okay! We have windows open!! Dh wants to cut the grass but he's waiting to see if it rains or not.

I sat here yesterday and wrote out what 5 things I do every morning and late afternoon/evening. Then I started a list of 5 things I could do during the middle of my day. My goodness. No wonder I'm constantly exhausted. Between doing stuff for dh and doing stuff for the cats, there is very little time for me to look after myself.

This morning I had MY shower first thing! By the time I finished in there, dh was up and sitting at the kitchen table. I made his coffee and gave him his meds and the cats got their treats. Now all 3 cats are sleeping and so is dh. I have also boiled a dozen eggs. Dh liked having some hard boiled eggs in the fridge so we could have egg salad sandwiches and devilled eggs IF we wanted them. I am having 2 for breakfast while they are still hot.

I am going to try to limit myself to FIVE THINGS between now and 5 p.m.

Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning

Twins - Thank you for the start.
there is very little time for me to look after myself.
Cathy - that is very insightful and so true.

I have to constantly make sure that I am taking care of myself with multiple tiny ways each day. It is so easy for me to get distracted by other things and people. When I slack on taking care of my physical body then my mental & emotional state suffers. IMHO, putting priority in taking the very best care of ourself is not selfish.....it is vital.

DH was still sleeping when I woke up so I took the opportunity to jump into the shower and wash my hair. My self care suffered yesterday so it felt wonderful to get back on track.

DH is 90% back to normal today! What a huge difference from yesterday. We will be taking things slow today as i continue to monitor his recovery.

Blessedw2 - it is good to see your quick CI

DH continue to recovery at a rapid pace. He was eager to get through his personal AM care so he could do the dishes. !!!! I'm not sad that DH loves washing dishes. Of all the daily chores that need to be done to keep a home going, the fact that DH has selected washing dishes feels like a daily gift from him. My love language = clean dishes.

I haven't told DH yet that we are going to the dentist this afternoon. I'll wait until about 30 minutes before leaving to tell him, otherwise he will hyperfocus on it, pace the floor and ask when we are going over and over.

Daily LOL is in the dryer.
Dishes are done.
Meals are planned and prepped.
I'm slowing getting back into the groove.

So thankful that your dh is recovering quickly after yesterday.

Dh has a blood work appointment on Wednesday.

I had a very nice morning with 3 other women. Two were crocheting and the other one was knitting. I'm just about to leave to go run some errands this afternoon.

Houseguests here, I got most of what I needed to do done. I'll get ready for my workout soon. When I'm back, I'll need a shower and to get busy again.

Waving to bw2! So good to see you here!

I have had some food for my lunch & hydrated.
Folded 2 loads of duds most are put away now.
Mixed up edible cookie dough for lows.
Dumped the trash in prep for trash day.

Checked for mail.
Did up the dishes & spiffed up counters.
Rinsed out my hair.
Put on my team colors for the next game.
Closed up plant cage.

Our county has put up an emergency burn ban and no fireworks b/c of the dry
condition I am so very glad!

Wishing every one a good rest of the day.
