Ta Da Tuesday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Wise words from Harriet yesterday:
it's true that we have to remind ourselves how much we are getting done, or even how much is getting in the way (?) so we have an understanding of why we're not getting to certain hopes and plans. It's not like we are throwing time out the window! We deserve to take a bow sometimes, for all the things that do happen!
Take that bow, for all the things that do happen today!
Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better [wo]man. Ben Franklin

Thank you to Harriet and Twins' Mom for our start today.

Dh has had his coffee and meds. He also had orange juice and water. PSW should be coming this morning.

I want to NOT cook tonight, so this morning I am "cooking". I plan on making a pasta salad for dh and a 6 bean salad for dh. That\s how many types of beans are in the can I got from WMart. Celery, radishes, onions, black pepper, Apple cider vinegar and olive oil will also be in this salad. The pasta will get cooked in the microwave.

Dh is back in bed.

I washed all of the jackets, vests, sweatshirts, etc. that usually hang on hooks in the hallway last night. This morning I put some in the dryer and others got hung to dry. The hall smells better already. I also swept and mopped the hall yesterday.

Later...

PSW just left. I took out the bathroom garbage... WHEW!! It's H O T out there. We are expecting a "feels like" temp of over 100F today. UGH!!

I was thinking about going to the landfill, but I don't want to load and unload the back of the truck!!

Good morning
remind ourselves how much we are getting done
YES!

I am the queen of doing things in teeny tiny ways. Every hour I try to accomplish something in multiple categories - TCOM (Take care of me), kitchen, outside, laundry are my basic hourly efforts. Once the hourly basics are accomplished then I will evaluate how to use the rest of the hour. Sometimes I just want to sit and watch a video or scroll until the next TOTH (Top of the hour). Other times I am full of energy and desire to get something done that has my attention. Having choices after covering the hourly basics feels good.

We are enjoying 5 days of below 100F temps. Nice!

Waving was up at 4:00 went back to bed but did not rally sleep.
Up for real @ 5:00 watered in front then in back.
Put trash out to the curb.
Took clothes down that I hung on the line in the basement.

Deck time was good qt journals ...
Walked ddoggo around the block.
More laundry is going now.
I swept down cobwebs off the deck behind where I sit.
Made the bed.
Had bfast.

It's pushing 8:00 now.
Next I need to spiff the kitchen
I have a plan for meals.
s2s needs to happen.

Was a bit achey in both shoulders doing a bit more arm stuff so that explains it.
Things lIke reaching up to hand up clothes and I've put book journal ect. in a book bag to
take with me to deck or other rooms. Getting it not too heavy was the challenge! LOL!

Hydrating now.
So glad it's cooler today and we have a glimmer of hope of rain.
I've started putting glimmer instead of grats in my journals to keep track of
the good things.

Appreciating the way I've gotten the spring clean up of yard work stuff done is a good thing!
Seeds & weeds & branches moved. Yea it does look better.

Howdy, blessed, and all of you!

Condolences to Harriet on the loss of sweet Tobias.

May I recommend peach pie, Twins, in addition to salsa and cobbler? :D We had a couple of dwarf peach trees growing up, and my DGF had one he grew from a pit! All were eventually gotten by borers, though.

Cathy, thank you for reminding me that I need to get pasta cooked for salad before it gets too hot. The next few days are supposed to be nasty, but today is supposed to be the worst here.

Envying you the ability to get things done in bits, LadyM. I will try to do such on days when I just can’t face anything big, but the best I can say on those days is that it’s better than nothing. It seldom translates to much progress for me.

I am always amazed at how much you get done early, Nancy!

We shall see what I can accomplish today. Yesterday morning discombobulated me. DH decided that it was going to be the best day for a while to continue his hike along the Buckeye Trail. The parts he is hiking are starting to get farther and farther from home, so the drives to take him to his start point and pick him up at his endpoint are getting longer. I had about enough time between the two to make and eat a late breakfast and clean it up before I had to head out again to the pick up point. Soon, I think, he will be getting to the point where it makes more sense to just drive straight to the endpoint and twiddle, but that will be a couple of hours of twiddling. Can’t win. 🤷‍♀️

Sunday night, I had dinner with a friend for what might be the last time. He is well, but he lives in NJ, and I think I have been there once in twenty years. This is his final trip to close up his late DM’s house. Dinner was a mix of high school and college friends; it reminded me of dinners at his mom’s, when she’d invite a diverse group of people, and the conversation was always interesting.

Today’s agenda includes a dental cleaning for me; perhaps ironically, I will likely stop after at the DQ across the street and pick up treats for the family. Mine, I suppose, will have to go in the freezer for half an hour. Ah, well. It is time to put my nose to the grindstone. First is to clean up some dishes and get that pasta going!

Have a great day!

I've s2s-ed and cleaned up, and walked the dog. Done parts of a.m. routine but still need my breakfast and to figure out our supper.

Today is the day we buy the car that I've been driving since May, long story there. We're buying as a "program" car with the certified extended warranty. The sales guy is a neighbor, so I have his car today in case I need to go anywhere, but I hope I don't need to. We'll either go to sign papers later or J will bring them home for us to sign.

I still have a lot more cherry tomatoes to pick, and the yard guy let me know yesterday that we have volunteers out near the line of kudzu. Those volunteers are probably from the dogs next door, who were eating them last year when there were tomatoes on the ground. There are more volunteers where I threw the plants last year at the edge of our drop off, and I also have Zinnia volunteers there. So far, all the Zinnias in the raised bed are pink!

Was it Lucy who asked about peach salsa? It was delicious! There are hundreds of recipes online, I chose one. Ingredients were chopped peaches, cilantro, red onion, part of a seeded jalapeño, a little kosher salt, and lime juice. I didn't measure everything but estimated. The pork chops were excellent and had a chili powder/cumin/kosher salt rub. I have some leftover chicken from Sunday, I think it would be good with that too.

Not sure about our dinner, if we go out there we may have dinner out? I am watching a webinar this afternoon.

I need to pick tomatoes again.

Mystery, dh is diabetic but would love peach pie. I'm not sure I should do that to him!

Raining today here. 70* 86* F. today's temps. range.
Did a few more things; chased cobwebs off the steps in the carport and entryway.
Cooked cabbage as I do not eat raw veg. or anything.
Did my sew a seam actually 5 so I'm good for the week LOL!

I do not try to do stuff in the afternoons it's my time
for tv movies reading or to rest & write.

Dreaming of peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream all melty with it.
I cannot have that only in my dreams. Have a bite for me if you make one or pie.

Okay Nancy, I am smiling but I am not sure that a seam from another day counts! (Maybe I should hope so.) Reach out and pat the machine or give it a dust and you'll have managed a day, though, IMO. Planning also absolutely, positively counts - most important part. Sometimes I talk to the machine: "Don't worry, I'm coming back!" I'm sure that counts. ;)

The HVAC guy was here and even though just a checkup it dominated the morning. You have to wait, wondering when arrival is. Then HRH talks and talks to folks who probably should be going on about their business. But this guy noticed HRH's gaming up on a computer screen and actually did become interested, I think. Then, he left a tool behind so we had to call his company (I hate that - hope he is not in trouble), and the fact that he asked us to consider leaving a review took forever because we couldn't get through to that process.

We are feeling the effects of a big change in the family. HRH is combating some heartache with unusual-for-him activities. He has 1) completely scraped driveways with the tractor, 2) gone off to visit older family members just out of the blue, 3) slept one full night on the couch for no reason other than missing the normal night routine and presence of his pal.

Beyond that, he is printing out directions and information about short trips we could take, like day trips or overnight. He's started saying the reason to get the house in order or simplified is in case we ask someone else to come check on it because we ourselves take off on a trip, now that we can. He says if we don't have enough clothes or something, we'll just buy things while we're gone. (um... not a thing he would say, but... true, I suppose)

So, I'm trying to balance this potential for being away (which will take time to prepare for) with reminding myself that everything doesn't have to be perfect. Also, noting the difficulty he has in feeling well enough to travel and his worry that he'd be disappointed he couldn't be the carefree traveler he could have as a young person. Of course, everyone could say that.

For now, just need to keep on with Next Ups
bed linens load of laundry
tend to indoor plants
some dusting I've noticed got away from me
sewing for progress and "D" delight
