I'm feeling optimistic about a Wonderful Wednesday. I am attending a "ladies luncheon" at the home of a temple congregant that I really dislike. On the plus side, I'll be with a group of women that I do like. It starts in two hours so I need to get myself ready. Will take 30 minutes to get there too.

Yesterday dh invited a friend/former client who was on the road to stop in for a drink when he came through here. Ya'll. He got here around four and didn't leave until 8:30. I had not planned dinner anyway and had no idea he would be here so long. I came downstairs around six and hung out with them. DH got out cheese and crackers so that was our dinner. I apologized to guest, we should have taken him out to dinner. He was a very interesting guy - grew up in rural KY and does contract work for Dept of Defense - in his late 70s! Driving from IN to Warner Robbins in GA.

So we need to deal with car later today. Dh and I are both out for lunch. Trying to figure out what to wear to "small, casual luncheon." I bet she doesn't mean my definition of casual!

I have walked did half of my steps for today already .
My Sewing Card is up! Did 20 min. in the sewing room.
It helped to turn on the small fan and aim it towards me as it does not osoliate. sp?

Had a V-8 & bfast bar nutirgrain.

I have the next block set up for when I'm in the sewing room again.
I need to get the kit. spiffed up and closer to perfect than it is now.
I spiffed up the bedroom last nite and put away some clothes & made the bed.
I may have some on the line in the basement.

On the time staying to daylite savings time not a fan as kids would be getting on the bus
in the dark and not getting lite till 9:00 a.m. I would prefer that it stayed on standard time.

Not really any plans but I am having a wonderful Wed. Q.T. journal was excellent on the deck yea!
Doing that at sunrise is one of the hi-lites of my day.

I added a piece of cardboard to a planner so it's firmer and can write in it better and it's not so floppy.
Took apart a book that was outdated and used one of the covers for that!

Hi!

That baseball game was kind of boring last night. I was so happy that the AL won.

It's very humid and smoky here today. We are staying inside with the AC.

Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Good morning

Nancy - you are so resourceful and creative in finding ways to use and improve your things. It is impressive to me how many skills you have and utilize.

My typical life continues with multiple teens here to the early hours (3am) working on ATV's and pickups. I watch them on cameras occasionally. Not creepy watching them but just monitoring the many teens to ensure they are making good decisions. This is DS17 second week without a job. He is job seeking everyday but is in a weird spot in his life - the jobs he wants long term require him to be legal (aka 18 years old).,...which is 21 days away. The jobs he can get now as a minor (fast food) are ones that he would not do well (inside building, fast pace, surrounded by people). The outside jobs he loves (farming/ranching) are in a lull right now with the high heat and not much work is happening. DS17 has worked somewhere for the past 6 years and hates not having a job. I am monitoring DS17 to make sure he doesn't slide into depression.

Wonderful Wednesday is a perfect way to describe my hopes and plans for today. Every time a new TOTH happens I have a fresh start.

Good morning!

I will settle for a "Wegular" Wednesday here. Nothing big on the agenda till taking DC to play practice this evening. I will ride along while they drive (driving test in two weeks!), but it has to be me because DH has Scouts at the same time. Not sure what play they are doing except that it is a short play by Anton Chekov, and I think DC is playing a male character.

I hope your luncheon goes well, and you have a lot of fun, Twins. I manage to enjoy myself even when we're meeting at the home of one of the women I don't particularly like (although really it's her husband I don't care for), but even though I don't think we'd get on well at anything other than the most superficial conversation, she is a good hostess. If your husband is going to keep inviting guests without a plan, might it be a good idea to figure out a good place that does delivery? (I suppose if you're comfortable with such, most places "deliver" these days via Doordash, etc.)

The hospital bed didn't go in the new room, blessed? Are you able to get your DM in and out without much trouble?

I agree with you on the DST, Nancy! I remember when we went on full-time DST during the "energy crisis" and going to school in the dark. And the days are short enough during the winter that that hour in the evening doesn't make that much difference. I wonder if support for the idea differs by latitude and by how far east or west people are in their time zone?

I was also happy that the AL won, Cathy, and that all three of my team's representatives got in the game. I can't remember if they still have it set up that the league that wins the All-Star Game has home-team advantage for the World Series.

I don't suppose your DS17's lull can be framed as a vacation, LadyM -- I guess he doesn't sound like much of a "vacation" guy.

Hoping lucylee's party goes off without the slightest of hitches! I'm sure a good time will be had by all.

Hit the treadmill (briefly) after breakfast, but I haven't cleaned up my dishes yet. That will be next. I should figure out what to do for dinner that won't be too hot. I have a crockpot meal in the back of my mind, but it uses a lot of the same ingredients as yesterday's dinner, and I don't want people to get bored or have to deal with things they don't like two days in a row. (DD has a lot of food issues.) So. Breakfast dishes; figure out dinner, then wash.

Have a great day, everybody!

Hi, everyone!

lucylee, I actually thought of the life alert after I was in bed last night, lol. Of course, you are not as concerned because you would know if she fell or pushed the button.

WOW, blessed, "hospital bed pickup day" is a joy for a household. Happy for you all. (btw, a success day for you - milestone)

Twins', your one-word sentence was duly noted. Two things can be true at one time - an interesting guest, but a very long visit.

DSTime - maybe my kids' opinion is more important than mine by now. This has been considered so long that now they are the ones facing more of the results of changing or not. I don't know if there is consensus with sleep doctors, AMA, etc., which might influence my thoughts - maybe I'll look that up.

Nancy, that is a nice highlight.

Cathy, stick with that better temperature. Oh, I don't like to hear about the smokiness, either. Hope it's temporary.
You remind me - yesterday the tech put our thermostat down to 70 which is lower than we would ever have put it, a big change, and he FORGOT to put it back. We didn't even know because at first it seemed fine. We went to bed and I froze half the night with bad sleep, got up and was so mad over that. I truly lost sleep, was unhappy without knowing why.

Every time a new TOTH happens I have a fresh start.

8-)

Hope you can stay cool, Mystery.

Laundry day here. One load already folded. HRH doesn't want to go out to shop after all. Doesn't disappoint me. I told him to look for deals online.

Thanks for the kudos gals!
Got the clothes off the line down stairs folded & put away.
Spiffed the kitchen counters & did dishes.

Ddoggo has been following me from room to room and out on the deck & did not want me to sit at my desk for this
post but rather on the couch for our music time and her nap.
Meanwhile I'm figuring out what's next up.

Cobwebs to chase on the carport.
I put the other part of the cardboard in a diff. planner cover for more stable to make entries on my
done list log, sanded the edges that were sharp and it's working.

Found red and black checked yardage when I did my basement walk about that was with the seasonal totes
in the storage area. Brought it upstairs might work for this project a back or some more block pieces or the main part
of a cobbler apron floor length as a costume-esk pattern I have yet to use. Wheels are turning like gears in my head
thinking on this project. I like the sound of the hum of the sewing machine going. Very satisfying.

CE class teacher is in hosp. with a kidney stone, for surgery on that, I learned a lot about that.
So instead I've been re-listening to Jordan Peterson basics lectures they are good and have
been redone with overlays of visuals instead of just a classroom a mountain stream is on it I like that improvement.
Good stuff for mojo. on life writing, study etc. He is one of my favs.
Today's vid. is titled on y.t. How to stop rotting away at home.

Quite a few of people on my walking route were out at 6 when it was cool out.
Saw a doe and a couple of quail.
I enjoyed the Ruth Bader Ginsburg movie on Net-flex just out this week, watched it last evening.
