Re: Lana Wachowski Wednesday @ TDD - C&C
Lana Wachowski is an American film director, writer, and producer who, alongside her sister Lilly, redefined science fiction cinema with the groundbreaking The Matrix franchise. Known for her visionary approach, Lana is also a prominent transgender woman whose public visibility and storytelling have made her an influential figure in LGBTQ+ advocacy.
Born Laurence Wachowski on June 21, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois, she spent her early life reading comic books and playing fantasy games like Dungeons & Dragons. After dropping out of college, Lana worked as a carpenter in Chicago while writing scripts with Lilly. The duo made their directorial debut with the 1996 crime thriller Bound. Shortly after, they exploded onto the international stage with The Matrix (1999), a massive box-office success that won Lana a Saturn Award for Best Director.
Following the original Matrix trilogy, Lana expanded her creative repertoire by co-writing and producing V for Vendetta (2005) and directing Speed Racer (2008). She and Lilly later teamed up with Tom Tykwer to direct the ambitious adaptation of Cloud Atlas (2012). In 2015, Lana launched her first television project, the critically acclaimed Netflix sci-fi series Sense8. She continued to push cinematic boundaries on her own, serving as the solo director and co-writer for the franchise's return in The Matrix Resurrections (2021).

And off I go - I have to be at work 7:30-5pm today, then I will get a massage, so with the commute I will come home around 7:30 and I don't think I will get much done after that!
But of course you will get a SHEM to start the day!
Today’s goals: Coffee and kindness. Maybe two coffees and then kindness.

Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off. I hope the massage helps.you unwind after a day at work. I did like the SHEM!
Today is Freddie's monthly appointment for.hos Solensia injection. No big deal,. except.we are seeing a different vet at the practice, who has never met him before, although I'm sure his reputation precedes him! The most difficult thi g ( for me) is to let her know the techniques.bet D uses to manage Freddie successfully (ie without bloodshed!) without vet R thinking I'm telling her how to do her job (I would never do that, of course, but I do feel that when one is.comfronted with an angry snarling, yowling cat uttering.death threats, some tips may be helpful!)

Good luck with Freddie and the vet, kittykatt
Trissie, I hope you can have an even-keel day
Thanks for the start. I am always amazed at people who have creative minds that can think up stories, plot lines, dialog, and put them on paper, book or film.
I don't need coffee - it's 2 am here. I've been yawning, but there's no sleep in my bed tonight. That is very unusual. So I got up and filled out paperwork for an insurance claim for dfBS. Perhaps next I am going to brew some decaf tea, and return to the couch and crochet a row or 2 of my dsis2 shawl.
I have errands that should be done in the morning, supper is planned with MrVKM, and in the middle I need to visit dfBS again. And the temp is moderate, so some yard work would be nice to catch up on too. Sleep would be of help in prep!

Re: Lana Wachowski Wednesday @ TDD - C&C
Gma, I'm sorry about the not sleeping, but you're certainly finding productive ways to fill your time!
We are back from the vet. Essentially, everything that could go wrong today went wrong. Freddie's vet for today had rung in sick. There were two other vets in the building, but one was up to her eyes in the handover from the previous night's admissions and emergencies and the other had a full quota of consultations already, and Fred is.not the kind of cat.whocan be quickly "slipped in" between two consults. And, of course, Fred's injection is not an "urgent" case.
Then the veterinary.student arrived for her experience (it's a teaching practice) . Technically, she's able to administer the injection, but it has to be under supervision, and also no one in their right minds would give Fred to.a student. So we had to wait for the locum to arrive and get settled in, and she very properly, wanted to read Fred's notes before having a chat with me about his meds,.and exactly how we were going to give the injection - she wanted to know how Vet D usually managed this without being attacked (Fred was growling,.swearing and hissing the whole time).. I did explain that Fred needs to be *very* firmly restrained in his carrier to prevent him thrashing about, so she decided to co-opt an extra nurse. So, in the end,.it took three nurses and one vet to give Freddie his injection.
Everyone was saying they have no idea how vet D does this with Freddie every month! And Fred was still swearing away when they brought him back to me. Fortunately D is back from his holidays next month.
DH has now taken the car and gone to the office. I've fed the neighbours cat and now l'm having a peaxeful late breakfast. Next up, watering the roses in the front garden.

Re: Lana Wachowski Wednesday @ TDD - C&C
So interesting about the director of The Matrix series, trissie! I hope you enjoy your massage - you deserve one after such a long day.
I'm glad Freddie got the Solensia injection, Kitty, even in the suboptimal conditions.
I hope you're sleeping well right now, Gma. Sounds like a full day!
L Ann, I've started listening to the book you recommended. It's entertaining, the one about Emma M Lion and her journal.
I'm having a lot of trouble getting in this morning. We'll see if this posts. I don't have time for this today. . . I also can't access my PMs here.
Yesterday was a good day - as far as it went. But it just didn't go far enough. I had a nice visit with my friends K, S2, and J in the morning, got in a 3.5 mile jog - it got a bit hot. My cousin J had emailed, and emailing him was on my todo list so I emailed a reply - Q for him about farmland and answered some Qs from him about the new trustee + general socializing. I then made a big shopping trip to Whole Foods and got everything we needed for dinner + other things. I made a big cucumber-tomato salad, tidied the living area a little, and s/sed the main bathroom. Then, I helped dh get dinner ready and on the table. 6 dinner guests were here 6:30 - 9ish. BUT then dh, AA and I went over the packing list for the Alps trip. I hadn't realized we were doing that. THEN, my laptop was completely dead. I got the new one up and working - but that took some time and several codes. I don't think there's much on the old laptop I need to transfer, but I couldn't do that anyway because it wasn't functional. I won't have time to work on that until we get back from our travels. So be it. . . Most of my stuff is on the cloud. By the time my new laptop was up and working, it was 11:30 pm, and I had done minimal prep for payroll. SO, I still need to prep for 4 hours teaching today.
AND I haven't done much on exam prep, which is technically due tomorrow. AND I'm teaching 11-1 and 1:40 - 3:30. I'll prep this morning before 11. Then, I need to go work out on the stair stepper. That's about all I'll be able to do today. I will try to use my evening for payroll, though I don't like doing that. I don't see any other way. I feel like my schedule is in a vice - every day is packed and I still don't know how I'll get everything done.
Today: I'm prepping for payroll this morning - after my coffee, then out the door around 10:40 a.m. I'm tutoring 11-1 and teaching 1:40 - 3:30. I'll be home around 4, take a break, and then head to the gym to meet with my frenemy, the stair master. Dinner needs to be early bc dh is meeting a friend at 7 pm - I'm just pulling pasta from the freezer. Tonight, I'll hopefully get at least one exam draft out the chute. This seems reasonable, but I know how life goes. It may not be reasonable in the end.
Next:
- payroll: finish prep for tutorial
- payroll: prep AAS D9
- reclaim kitchen
Later:
- make a lunch/ snack
- s2s and self care
- make the bed
- some qt
- otd by 10:40
- 11-1 payroll: tutorial
- 1-1:40 lunch
- payroll: edit teacher website - note on writing exams
- payroll: reserve a room for the exit exam on Friday and share with S
- 1:40 - 3:30 payroll: teach AAS D9
- gym - stair master
- dinner: shrimp pasta, mixed veggies
- after dinner clean up
- duolingo
- update ww
- update MFP
- payroll: AIR exam draft off for review
- payroll: AR Exam draft off for review
- anything else?
- can dh help with my airpods which aren't charging anymore?
- email CG1 - we will host on Saturday
TaDas!
- up; weighed self - way up again
- coffee
- email deletions and weather websites

Today: I'm prepping for payroll this morning - after my coffee, then out the door around 10:40 a.m. I'm tutoring 11-1 and teaching 1:40 - 3:30. I'll be home around 4, take a break, and then head to the gym to meet with my frenemy, the stair master. Dinner needs to be early bc dh is meeting a friend at 7 pm - I'm just pulling pasta from the freezer. Tonight, I'll hopefully get at least one exam draft out the chute. This seems reasonable, but I know how life goes. It may not be reasonable in the end.
