trissie, I think a day of recharging energy is a very appropriate title for a day. We all need those.
(When I was helping dfBS sort her mail, and she didn't want to throw away several things that I thought she should, I made a file folder for "solicitations" instead of calling it "junk mail" Well, I don't have to worry about that anymore. I am not volunteering to clean out her house. I have my mother's to deal with, plus my own. Her brother will inherit >$1million. He can manage it, hire it.)

Gone for a couple days - a fabulous quilt auction, made a good amount of money so kids can go to Christian camp on a lake shore. And the facility is used year 'roud for retreats even in the winter. I came hoe with nothing but a good time! They have a "fund a need" section in the auction, where we can pledge to donate cash, anywhere from $50 - $5000 which I participate in.

Unfortunately whatever was causing my rash REALLY flared up while I was there - I meant to take the allergy medicine with me, but it got left behind. when I got home, I realized that my dil washes sheets in scented, dyed detergent. I use "free and clear." So sleeping in sheets all night probably wasn't a good idea. And I had a horrible night: woke up 3x, with painful itching. My face is starting to feel it too - yeah, I slept on a pillowcase washed in her soap. [Yes, I am smart enough to know now that I need to bring my own laundry detergent. But it's been over a year since I was there. DS and fmaily have been there many any times, with her people as well, so It was like I was coming into a strange house...]
I have showered, changed underwear, put on different clothes, taken an allergy pill, and so far think I can make it until morning when I can go see my dr. I did draw a line defining the redness, so I can tell if it spreads and how quickly.
It IS driving me crazy with the itch! I think a prednisone bolus and quick taper might fix the problem. My dil thought it looks like cellulitis, which would require antibiotics, but I hope that can be avoided. She's a lab tech, tests blood at the clinic. sometimes thinks she know more than I do - and she does on some things, but I have a pretty good knowledge base as well. That's why I outlined the redness - if it increases, i will act by going to the ER.

Norton is certainly a very effective antivirus and well-established, helia. I dropped it in the 1990's because it slowed down the computers so much, but I expect that they have improved things since then.
I'm sorry that the scale is not cooperating. You have certainly done your part! I have not forgotten that 5K run, even if the scale chooses to disregard it.

Aw, thank you, Kittykatt. I am leaning toward just washing my hands of McAfee, since their tricks to try to force customers into auto-renewal are not going to change. No point in winning the battle if I can just walk away from the war.

How did I not notice that we are up to Page 4?

Hi, L.Ann.

(((Gma))) I hope that the allergy symptoms don't get any worse.
Congratulations on a successful fundraiser.

Sunday
Put on a pot of coffee
Heart pill for dog
Fired up the Windows laptop, which has been shut down since the antivirus expired
Brought up the new antivirus licence that I bought.
Activated it: this really is the last time that I’m going to use McAfee. It’s forcing me to agree to auto renewal in order to activate the package that I have already bought for less than ⅓ of the price of the renewal.
Started uninstalling McAfee so that I can do a clean install
Computer froze
Linux computer is slow
Booted both computers
Uninstalled McAfee
Booted computer
Checked that McAfee is uninstalled
Started looking for the download to reinstall it
Opened password manager to log into McAfee
McAfee is forcing a password change
Changed password
Logged it in password manager that is tied to McAfee subscription
Opened my permanent password manager
Logged the password change there
Turned off the autorenewal so that I don’t forget and get charged a whopping renewal charge instead of buying antivirus when this expires
Went around and around in circles until it became clear that McAfee changed my expiry date for the new subscription that I just paid for, to the end of today.
Tried to turn auto-renewal back on in order to get the software installed: McAfee wants to charge me $129 to turn it back on, on top of the $33 package price that I already paid for the year.
At this point, I’m so mad that I’m prepared to throw away the $33 I already paid, and buy BitDefender for $33. I’ll still be better off than dealing with McAfee. I’ll be sorry to let go of TrueKey, which is tied to the McAfee subscription
Checked out BitDefender on BestBuy. Got stuck between two options that look identical and are the same price, but one is at its normal price and the other is 50% off. Went back and forth trying to work out the difference. Finally opened two tabs and proofread them one word at a time. Finally spotted that one is a digital download and the other is the physical package.
Checked the auto renew function with BitDefender. They are going in that direction too, but their customer support confirms that you still get your protection if you turn off auto renewal.
Went to McAfee customer support bot and it confirms that they should not have expired my product, and gave me instructions on dealing with the customer support dept to get it corrected
Cleaned up after dog
Washed the worst parts of the floor.
Put away dry laundry
Put away the big drying rack–woo hoo! Got some real estate back.
Breakfast for Germane: she woke up with a good appetite and ate three helpings. I stopped feeding her at that point, because I was afraid that she would bring it back up.
Various treats for Germane
Cleaned up after dog X 2
Put away dry laundry
Put away the small drying rack
Brought in the balcony rack
Put away dry laundry
Scrubbed out sink and basin
Washed a couple of basinsful of dishes
Loaded recycling on the handcart
Took Germane out for a carry
Treats and food for Germane
