Re: Mamma Mia Monday @ TDD - C&C
Mamma Mia! is a globally acclaimed jukebox musical conceived by producer Judy Craymer, written by British playwright Catherine Johnson, and built around the iconic discography of ABBA composed by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. Set on a fictional Greek island, the plot follows 20-year-old Sophie Sheridan as she prepares to marry her fiancé, Sky. Raised by her fiercely independent single mother, Donna, Sophie secretly reads her mother's diary and discovers three potential biological fathers from Donna's past: Sam Carmichael, Bill Austin, and Harry Bright. Desperate to have her father walk her down the aisle, Sophie secretly invites all three men to the wedding, setting off a chaotic and emotional chain of events when they unexpectedly arrive.
The original stage production, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, premiered in London's West End in 1999 starring Siobhán McCarthy as Donna, Lisa Stokke as Sophie, and Hilton McRae as Sam. The theatrical story unfolds as Sophie spends time with each man to figure out who her real father is, while Donna's lively former bandmates—Tanya (Louise Plowright) and Rosie (Jenny Galloway)—arrive to provide support and comic relief. Secrets quickly unravel, tensions mount between Sophie and Sky over rushing into marriage, and Donna faces the profound shock of having her past loves reappear simultaneously just days before the ceremony.
In 2008, the same creative powerhouse team of Craymer, Johnson, and Lloyd transitioned the story to cinema with Mamma Mia! The Movie, which featured a star-studded cast including Meryl Streep as Donna, Amanda Seyfried as Sophie, and Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård, and Colin Firth as the three prospective fathers. Mirroring the stage show's joyous climax, the film concludes at the altar where Sophie and Sky mutually decide to call off the wedding to travel the world together. Ultimately, all three men happily agree to share the fatherly role, and Sam seizes the moment to propose to Donna, who happily accepts.

Re: Mamma Mia Monday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off. I have to confess that Mamma Mia is one of my favourite films (not really the plot,.but I've always loved the music of ABBA). Did you have a nice time.at your neighbours ' yesterday?
Gma, I'm glad.you had a lovely time at the cabin.. I'm sorry your rash got worse ( I don't think I could sleep in highly scented sheets either!) It does.soumd very like the rash my Dnextdoorneighbour C had, which she thinks was caused by something biting her, and which her GP said was cellulitis, bit, of course, things that sound similar may have a very different cause..I do think you're wise to get it checked out though.
Dogged, you've had a full day!
Today DH goes to Leeds for a few days for work. I want to use the time wisely, to recharge and also to get things done!

Re: Mamma Mia Monday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning, kittykatt! Any progress on DH's retirement?
I did indeed have lovely time at our friends' yesterday - we stayed way too late and I am paying the price today! I was the designated driver, so at least I do not have to deal with the after-effects of alcohol (DH had two glasses of wine and some mimosas, but that would have been too much for me). This couple are his work friends - he used to work with the guy at his first job, and now works with the wife. And they are fun and intelligent and I really enjoy talking to them!
Another day of working from home. The kids have two medical apts - for DS, the follow-up on his ear infection in the morning, and DBD has a speech therapy apt in the afternoon, so my day is going to be pretty broken. Oh well, not much I could do about it!

◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕
Trissie, thanks for the musical start. Good luck for your WFH day !
Kittykatt, enjoy the time alone at home !
Gma, sorry about the rash, and the worry. I hope it will be easily solved and treated.
Morning at payroll. Two more weeks before my vacation.
It's a sunny day, will be hot later. Thinking about those suffering from heat, or wildfires, or smoke from wildfires.

Is there another heatwave coming your way, Frenchie? Our forecast is 39C for Thursday... I hope they are wrong!
We're home from DS15's apt. Luckily, no more follow-up! I'm gonna use my lunchbreak to cook some lunch for kids and then back to work.

Re: Mamma Mia Monday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning:) I love Mamma Mia Mondays:) Thanks for the start trissie
I'm not caught up with posts but I remember you asked yesterday about an evacuation bag. I don't have one - yet. However, I think, the way things are going, we might all need one. And, I'm not trying to be a pessimist. All the best for the appts.
We have an appt with DH this morning.
Kittykatt are you still taking care of neighbour's kitty?
FFly - are you excited about vacation?
Gma - I sure hope it's NOT cellullitis.. Do take care of yourself.
We have clouds witn 28 C as the high . Air Quality is fine .
I did not get back yesterday, I really had nothing left in me... In the evening, we all went out with Dkids and Dgkids for dinner, which was nice.
Today - I must drive DH to his appt. this morning (in rush hour traffic.) Hope to be back by noon....
First:
D2S/meds
feed pup/take her out once more
start a lol (always a good idea)
See you in a bit.

Re: Mamma Mia Monday @ TDD - C&C
Trissie, I'm glad you had a lovely time last night. And very good news about DS 's ear.
No more news about DH's retirement, except that he's in a cohort of 500 whose leaving date is supposed to be 30th September, and no one's pension from that cohort has been sorted out yet.
( sigh). If they don't get it done in time (and to be honest it's starting to look unlikely) he will just stay on working until it's all sorted. They do claim to be sorting out 97% by the leaving date , but I think that may be optimistic, especially as there's something called the McCloud remedy, which I don't understand, but also has to be applied, which, of course, draws out the process. He's had to work over the summer, so he's not too worried about an extra few months, although, of course, it's unsettling not knowing what's happening. And if he ends up working beyond 4th November, then something else happens (not sure what, but it will mean a slightly bigger pension for him.)
FFB at least you have your holiday to look forward to. Does your boss have any more leave booked to give you a break while you're at work? We're supposed to reach 24C today, 25C tomorrow and 31C on Wednesday,.before it drops down again. (Although of course it could all change!)
KitKat, yes, I'm still feeding the neighbours' kitty, for the rest of this week and the first half of next week. We have good air quality today too, although the UV index is high.
DH has been safely delivered to the station. I'm now looking at chairs online. DH has hurt his back / shoulder and he says his chair makes it worse. So, he's commandeered my chair, which means I'm left with the sofa (I really can't sit in his chair, as I end up doubled up like a prawn - no ot good for posture or the digestion!) which is great for stretching out on on a lazy Sunday afternoon, but a bit too low for "normal" sitting. DH announced some time ago that he wanted eventually to get one of those "posture-pedic" (sp?) chairs for himself, but he's done nothing about looking for one, especially as he seems very comfortable in my chair! I also don't entirely trust him not to pick something in cream (really not practical!) or with a fabric that has loops (not a good idea with three sets of little claws!
)
So, I'm thinking about getting something comfortable, supportive and reasonably priced for me to use in the meantime, as my back, neck and knees have been protesting this last week. (I have a suspicion that he won't bother to get himself another chair, just carry on using mine. ) And then I'll take his old chair down to the garage ready to post on Nextdoor. Neither of us is using it, and I'm tired of moving it every week when I clean the sitting room. And I don't want our sitting room to start resembling a second hand furniture store!
