A consistently clean home is within reach! It's not that we need to clean everything suddenly We only need to clean CONSISTENTLY throughout the year we know that. Focus is Forgiving! It gives us ONE idea for an already-complete plan of rotation to keep us on track and keep each lovely area from neglect. We don't have to re-invent the wheel, just roll along with the one we have at the ready, a week at a time.
Here's a space to chat about our third rounds through our homes, which will be from today through the week of Monday, August 10 . Eleven rooms/areas for eleven weeks. Change the room or area names around to suit your home, record them in personal record-keeping if you want, in whatever form you like, and let's go through the house again!
If you are on a different plan for cleaning, please chat with us anyway, okay? We'd love to hear what you are doing through these months. Our bedroom was helped by reorganizing a set of plastic storage boxes. A chair was freed up and ready for actual seating again. I was disappointed that I didn't get all the dusting done all around the room, but I see how that can be corrected. (high places need attention)
Our bathroom - bought a new plain spray bottle for my own concoctions of cleaning product, particularly vinegar solution that works on floor with some baking soda. Went back to more Pine Sol use and less other types - for some reason, HRH actually likes the smell.
The office/studio found me working around the room from right to left from doorway, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning the floor mat, etc. Some decluttering gave me a better feeling of being able to move and do things.
Now in Closet Week, working on that room's closet.
Laundry (Mud Room for my house)
In laundry area, we had a leak of a large economy size laundry detergent sitting on the shelf above the dryer. Thankfully, I caught it before things got too bad, but it was a lot of trouble and took a lot of time to clean up. I never like to use those - the smaller bottles are so convenient but sometimes (not always) less frugal.
Storage
For storage, this same area of the mud room had to come up for a sad reason, needed my time. It has been a difficult area to address because it's the cat litter box area plus the place for everything for Tobias, from grocery-bought products to pet-store-type products, carrier, etc. We're in process of decluttering all items that have value to a shelter who wants the things.
Outdoor was a lot of obvious and very pleasant work.
One fly in the ointment I want to warn about - I'm so disappointed in a liquid fertilizer that stained my concrete of my front porch. Watch out for products that include phosphorus, they often brag they are good for flowers but I used this once in baskets and am so glad I didn't put it anywhere else, will never use again. Baskets, of course, will often drip from the bottom and it didn't dawn on me the concrete of my porch would be stained yellow-green by phosphorus. I read this bottle, which came from a trusted company that gained my trust because they have ORGANIC products and this particular one does not say organic, although all their others do.
