Re: The Tigger Movie Thursday
I have not seen the movie either, but I do love Tigger. Enough that I might go to our public library and see if they have Tigger in their DVD section! It would be a wonderful accompaniment while I sit and crochet working on the cape shawl I am making for dsis2, whose birthday is early Sept.
Great news from my mail last night: While my dbro and his wife were here, she and I went through some of Daddy's papers. He was a professor fo history. 40 years ago, he did an oral interview with a prominent person in a small town in the state where he grew up. Dsil and I found the transcript. I contacted the bank where the man was (apparently someone important - maybe president or chairman of the board?). They wanted the transcript so I mailed it to htem. In yesterday's mail I received a check for $500! Now that's gratitude!
I have to get Mother's house ready for guests who are coming Sunday afternoon, so I will be spending my day there.
After I write to dfs whose son passed away last winter. I dreamed about them last night.
(need to read back and see what happened to doggedly's floor?)
oh, I see. Doggely, can you turn on a fan - that will help it dry out faster. Then the suggestion to cover it with an area rug is a great plan.

Re: The Tigger Movie Thursday
Hi, all. I am just popping in to give a quick update. Our apartment office must have been hit with a lot of panicked emails, as they sent out a mass email this morning to explain that they are delivering an update about a Landlord/Tenant Board case to do with a rental reduction that they are required to inform us about. It won't make much difference to the amount we pay, so I don't feel invested in which way the case goes.
For the damage to the floor, ironically if you stand in my doorway the sun is shining off of the floor making the damage invisible from that spot, LOL. Long term I'm not looking to hide this from them. I have a good relationship with the maintenance guys, and it is my responsibility ultimately. I'm going to have to take up the pieces of linoleum to check for other damage and then rethink my approach. That's a big job for me in my current state, so I'll probably do that in stages. I'll add that to my apartment reorganization plans.
Kittykatt, you asked about the type of floor. It's hardwood parquet. I'm surprised that the urine was able to find a way to get past 50 years of urethane coatings on top of one another, but it looks like it seeped into the cracks between the pieces of parquet and then into the wood itself.
Anyway, I'm going to go and make breakfast and then I'll be back to CUOP and install the update to my db's backup software. Yes, he has already come out with a new version!
See you soon.

Re: The Tigger Movie Thursday
Back and CUOP.
Thank you for a bouncy start, Kittykatt. I hope that the parish lunch is successful, and that all appreciate your efforts for it.
Thanks, FrenchFly. The front office sent a mass email explaining why they are coming into the apartments, and it's nothing serious, thankfully.
Hi, L.Ann. I will join you in folding laundry at some point today.
That's sweet that Little Bit has a barbie to join her in the pool.
helia, I'm glad that you have arrived safely, and that the wild fires are not near your or FrenchFly. I expect that France is doubly happy to have your tourist dollars as so many tourists had to leave the Bordeaux area.
Gma, that is so nice to receive appreciation for your df's interview and for your thoughtfulness in offering the transcript. And I'm sure that you can find use for $500.00!

Looked for info re: dog rescue auction pickup. Checked my various email addresses to see if I missed it. The email came in while I was looking. Firmed up plans.
Found email from apartment office explaining the entry notice
Cleaned up after dog
Treats and breakfast for Germane
Drained the air conditioner
Wiped down/tidied table

Re: The Tigger Movie Thursday
Doggedly, glad to know they don't want to make any srious announcement.
L.Ann I hope LIttle Bit and Barbie have a good swim!
helia, welcome to France. I hope the French welcome you more nicely than we have a reputation for
It's hot in Lyon right now, hotter than usual. I hope you can have a look at the Fourvière cathedral which is the shape of an upside-down elephant on top of a sort of hill / cliff. There's a tiny version of the Eiffel tower nearby. I don't think you'll stay long enough to enjoy the tasty recipes of the area, so I wont boast about them
I hope you're not too jet-lagged and your adventures continue well into Switzerland. If I don't see you till then, I hope you have a nice time hiking up there, and some alone time to hermit, too.
Waving to Gma and kittykatt! Waving to any one I forgot !
Long day at payroll, not enough time with my kids after payroll. One Friday to go, one more week, then I have a well-deserved two week vacation.
TADAs
day at payroll
got bored
did a Wordle, a Murdle and a Nerdle at payroll, discreetly, to pass the time
also did things I had to do at payroll - there is no shortage of them, only the motivation is lacking
back home, walked maybe a mile with MrNG outdoors then 1 km on the treadmill
showered, made dinner, served dinner
cleanup, dishwasher ready to start
this and that here and there
TODO
have kids brush their teeth and be ready for bed
my own before bed routine
DS8 wants to sleep in the tent in the garden so I may sleep there too
tell a story (in tents, the family tradition is that we don't read bedtime stories, we tell them)
sleep early

Re: The Tigger Movie Thursday
One more day to go until Friday, and one more week until vacation, and the countdown is on, FrenchFly.
Both Germane and Alexa seem to have a hearing problem that randomly clears up. I ask Alexa to start a timer and it decides that I want to hear music of its choice, and the only way to stop it is to unplug it. I've been having to do that more and more lately. Germane, on the other hand, mostly acts like she can't hear me at all. And yet, when she was begging for a bean at the table after I had finished my breakfast, I offered to get her a piece of fish and she vanished. I was checking under my chair to make sure I didn't step on her. When I approached the kitchen, there she was, all ready and waiting for the promised piece of fish.

Glad it is nothing serious, Dogged. Yay, for a vacation, FFB. That’s exciting, GMA. When we were going thru DM’s papers there were letters to my grandmother from Frances Perkins who was married to her uncle. We were able to mail them to Frances Perkins family home museum.

Re: The Tigger Movie Thursday
Thanks, L.Ann. How neat to have those letters in your family, and to be able to give them to the museum.
I went to the grocery store and spent a weirdly long time and lots of money. I have put away the cold groceries, and need to go back down to the car to bring up the rest of groceries.

Re: The Tigger Movie Thursday
Thank you FFB! We went to a local restaurant last night and had seafood - not sure that's a Lyon specialty since we're not near the sea. Dh wanted escargot. It's OK but not my favorite. We didn't get it last night but we'll be back in France in a week, and we can get some then. We walked by the river; our hotel is basiclly on it. It's huge, in a historic building that used to be a hospital. It's very nice! Everyone has been very nice. I've just felt self-conscious that I'm not super fashionable, especially when we arrived at a posh hotel after traveling for 18 hours, and my French language skills are abysmal. I used to be pretty good. . .It was warm last night - but not over-the-top warm, imho.
Maybe you needed a lot of groceries, Doggedly? Yes, we will certainly be helping the European economies on this vacation.
In turn, we will get to visit with dh's family, see beautiful landscapes and culture, and eat marvelous food - well, at least in France and Spain. I'm not sure about Switzerland, at least not the mountain huts. Most importantly - we will get to disconnect for payroll and other responsibilities at home for a couple weeks! It will be worth it!
That's very nice of them, Gma! What a nice surprise for you! My father was also a professor for 40ish years - I don't know the exact number but it was his only job. He got his PhD in civil engineering, spent a year overseas on a Fulbright scholarship, and then joined the university and worked until he retired - and continued puttering at work after that as a professor emeritus. I have a soft spot in my heart for engineering professors as I also married one.
Very cool, L Ann! I hope Little Bit's new Barbie enjoys swimming as much as Little Bit does.
Dh is fussing about going down to get breakfast, so I'm off - for now.
