Health and Fitness August 2026
It is a fresh start with the new month, renewed mindset, renewed focus, renewed intentions, and new results.
Plan around the heat and get outside things done during the cooler part of the day. Stay safe!

Re: Health and Fitness August 2026
Thank you for starting off, Lady M. For August, I'm going to "keep on keeping on", reinforcing those habits I've been successful with, and trying to improve on the walking.

Re: Health and Fitness August 2026
Hi Ladies ! Thanks for starting the new thread. Thanks for being there, to make me accountable.
For August I'm sticking to the same my five habits, tracking them on paper at night and reporting here when I have the time.
There may be some disruptions as we are leaving for two weeks of vacation in the middle of the month. I hope I can keep track of things, I hope I can stay on track.
My 5 daily habits, tracked on an index card near my bed :
MR - basic morning routine - Move C/W - either Cardio or Weights, daily - MicroMove - tiny times of movement at payroll or during the day - Time for me - to read, maybe write, maybe think, maybe journal - K for Kegels - pelvic floor exercises, 1 mn minimum, at bedtime usually.
Bonus habit : sweep unter kitchen table at night, so kids get used to a clean kitchen floor when they get downstairs for breakfast.

I'm enjoying being in the honeymoon phase with a fresh start. Everything seems easy at first, but then consistency becomes necessary and that is a challenge for me.

honeymoon phase
. That's a good way to put it. First of month optimism, yay.
I have started a new month's circular habit tracker of 12 healthy habits. Just printed from an original I keep, it's a freebee online. That's mostly nutrition except for water and exercise. I'm trying to research the foods that will be best for me now, but there are constant ones. A couple meals including greens daily are a definite, also a serving of cruciferous veggies daily. Bought lacinato kale (dark) today. Also, a "slaw" with brussels sprouts from the grocery deli. I have broccoli for adding to mac and cheese.
My own broccoli sprouts are started as of this a.m. Usually, I don't grow them in the deep summer because of fruit flies (or whatever those gnats are that arrive on bananas this time of year), so bananas are a no-no and I'll need to be vigilant about other fruits potentially getting too ripe in the kitchen. Realizing this was coming up, I froze some banana slices in a single layer in baggies for smoothie/shakes.

Re: Health and Fitness August 2026
Harriet, you sound very well prepared! I find bananas.are unattractive to fruit.flies while they are still yellow, so long as I remember to keep the lid of the caddy with all the fruit and veg peelings tightly sealed. And check the fruit bowl for.any apples that are.overripe or have any damage.
I hang my bananas on a banana."tree" well away from the other fruit in the fruit bowl, so the apples etc don't get too ripe too quickly .a
