Focused Friday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Get your focus on! What important things need to happen today? Get it all in mind or written down, and focus on what needs to happen to make Friday a big success!

From James Clear:
Focus and concentration can be difficult to master. Sure, most people want to learn how to improve focus and boost concentration. But actually doing it? We live in a noisy world and constant distractions can make focus difficult.
Here's his take on focus: https://jamesclear.com/focus
Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better [wo]man. Ben Franklin

Hi!!

It's pouring rain here today. Thankfully we cut the grass on Wednesday. Weed whacker guy was supposed to come today... but he won't be working in this weather.

I have to unload the dishwasher and the dish rack to prepare both places for more stuff.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Good morning

Twins - Thank you for the start and the link to that article.

I am saying YES to focus today. SHE cards are the way that I can accomplish that. Focus on one card at a time. Repeat.

I reached the moment of the morning when I said "Ahhhhhh"
I had a pleasant conversation with DS18 before he left for work.
DD15 was delivered to school during a chatty drive.
DH is pushing the battery mower in the back yard.
I am all alone in the house. Coffee cup in hand, feet up, CUOPing and enjoying a break after 2 hours of being busy.
Nice and sweet moment!

Morning all. Focus.. hmm there are definitely some things to focus on. I should be doing more berries. Chiggers must not be a problem here they sound very memorable even if called something else... I decided I should just make more jam and bring it for dd.b These berries almost turn into jam juice on their own. Plus our church is responsible for lunch after church in the park on Sunday and I need to make cookies tonight so tomorrow is free for berries and helping and whatever dh might want to get to.

First off work in an hour. Actually I could pick up and go with dh so I could do early start. We'll see.

You know lady m I was worried something like dd15 experience happened to ds. Especially in sports... he was so determined and it seemed one day it all went out the window.. same with academics. Except he says absolutely nothing. Can't find words... I am so glad that issue is resolved for you.

Ohh no on mom throwing up like that. That is so hard. My mom got to the stage of dad always having to clean up after personal messes like that. And some stretches she forgets how to use her muscles and fought backwards instead of getting out of the chair. He couldn't get her up anymore. That was the trigger for care. I know that didn't work for you. And you have a support system. We didn't succeed at finding him more than just us girls for consistent help so she is now in care. I am so thankful.

I need to get up and get ready for work.

CI up at 5:00 had 7 hrs. good sleep.
2 alerts today fire weather watch and AQI alert.
We did walk @ 6:00. So I have my a.m. steps in, did that after q.t. & journaling.
Broke a blood vessel on my ring finger figured out how to ice it by holding my iced cranberry juice in a glass container.
I have done PUPA in the sewing zone my focus area this week was needed before any more progress of actual sewing could happen.
I did get the new to me dresser set up down stairs. I can go down there where it's cooler I do not have to look at the smoke and be
distracted it's cooler and I can watch the vids. & take notes too. Using half size comp note book for my notes.
I am loving the visuals on the AI class. It's helping explained what the guy in the CE class was talking about looking for info. in sand country.

More planning work shop vids. to day interspersed with rounds kitchen needs attn.
I got out my book of lists from parking and was even better than the one from AI that I looked up yesterday.

I have not done my top three for today in my bujo yet.

Waving to everyone it's so good to read your posts.

Can't find words... I am so glad that issue is resolved for you.
DD15 school issues are not resolved but her plans to switch to online school is on pause. DD15 agreed to return to public school today. We will see how it goes. Online school starts on the 16th so we have a week to consider things.
(((Lauralind)))
I totally agree with you in the difficulty of getting them talking. Usually, DD15 talks best when it is just me and her in the vehicle. However, she didn't say anything about it on the drive home from school. Later, while we were in the kitchen together she just casually said she was switching to online school. I felt blindsided because I didn't understand why the sudden change. I started asking questions and listening without giving my opinion or thoughts. Eventually we sat down together and she told me what happened. I've never raised a child like DD15 who prefers being in her bedroom. She doesn't socialize like the other kids I've raised. It isn't easy to interact with her and find out if something is bothering her. It is a fine line to walk in being persistent to get her talking without crossing the line to where she shutdowns.

When I found out what happened yesterday, I contacted a favorite teacher who was in the classroom. The teacher didn't understand what happened but once I explained it she brought the principal into the conversation. Within 15 minutes the principal showed up on our front door asking to speak to DD15. She wasn't aware of what happened and immediately launched an investigation starting with talking to DD15 first and then was on her way to "mean boys" homes to speak to them and parents.
I give big BRAVO marks to the school principal and teachers trying their best. Teenagers aren't the easiest age to deal with.

DD50 is doing well the day after surgery. It will be a couple weeks recovery, and she is having a good first day.

I found a can of beef gelatin powder. I can't remember why I bought it. I'm looking for some recipes to use it. The ratio for calories to protein is one of the best ingredients I've ever seen. I want to include it in my daily menu but first I have to find out how to do that. Let the experimenting begin.

Routine morning here…

LadyM… I’m impressed with your dd15 principal and teachers. Also Sweetie is mirroring much of your DH and I too feel the way you do.

We are going to Wally World in a while. It’s a challenge but he wants to. So after lunch we’ll head that way. Figures crossed 😉

going to Wally World in a while. It’s a challenge but he wants to
I ask DH if he would mind pushing the cart and he is always willing.
In reality I want him to hold on to the cart while I am in front of it pulling the cart and direct its path.
The cart sorta anchors him so he doesn't wander away.
I don't know what will need to change until forced to do something different because what we are doing isn't working anymore. IYKWIM
Adjust. Adjust. Adjust is what I am learning is a constant process as life changes.
(((RR & Sweetie)))

I made some lemon jello with the powdered gelatin. At least I hope that is what it turns out to be. It is in the refrigerator to cool down for a couple hours.

Breakfast was typical bacon/cheese/egg bagels for DH. Breakfast burrito for me.
We have several kinds of sliced meats that need to be used. Roast beef, honey ham and shaved turkey. I'll make DH a dagwood type of sandwich for his next meal.
Meatloaf and mashed potatoes are on the menu for evening meal.

Astra needs some supplies. Some sort of chewing bone. Puppy pads. Puppy food. Treats for use in training. What else? hum...
Ordering those are my next focus.
