Mrs Mopp is a classic British slang term for a cleaning lady or charwoman. The term became a household phrase thanks to the immensely popular 1940s BBC radio comedy series It's That Man Again (ITMA), where the character Mrs. Mopp (played by Dorothy Summers) famously greeted people with the catchphrase, "Can I do yer now, sir?"

The character debuted on ITMA during World War II and turned the cheerful, intrusive cleaning lady into a national archetype. Her dialogue spawned popular catchphrases like "Can I do yer now, sir?" and the sign-off "TTFN" (ta-ta for now). The moniker entered British dictionaries as a generic noun for any domestic cleaner.

Good morning everyone and happy Monday!

Helia, your hiking sounded very adventurous! I hope you enjoy Avignon now you're back in "civilization" again!

Gma,.I hope you enjoyed the party. Helia is right when she suggests now may be a time.of figuring out what you want to do / be.

Trissie, when will your Berlin trip take place?

L.Ann, that is super organised to have to Christmas card already made!

Dogged, we're starting to heat up again (we reached 33C yesterday) but fortunately without the humidity. So far!

Yesterday we had church, followed by visiting DF E for coffee - she was in very good form, and said she was considering a cruise!!! (I don't actually think anything will.come.of.it, and it would be almost physically impossible for her, but I'm.not going to be the one to tell her this.) Our lunch menu was roast chicken, roast potatoes, gravy, tenderstem broccoli, green beans and carrots followed by rhubarb crumble (I found some lovely forced rhubarb already prepared in the freezer that needed eating!) and cream.

Today DH goes to the office and I'm at home. It's going to be hot again so I need to plan my day wisely.

I had never heard of that show and had no idea that was the source of TTFN, Kitty! I hope your day is off to a brilliant start; maybe you're out walking right now. Rhubarb - yum! Another food I like a lot but never cook. Yes, we are very much enjoying living a more civilized life this week. :D Showers every day, flush toilets, sleeping alone at night - instead of in a room with 20 other people. And no anxiety over what physical challenge the next day of hiking will hold.

I'm trying to put together a small album of pics on imgbb to share here, but my pics have too many MB and I don't know how to size them smaller. That's on hold for now.

We're up a tad earlier today to take an 8:30 taxi to catch a 9:30 train to Toulon to visit our friend. That will be pretty much the entire day. I'm having coffee first - and then I'll do my back exercises and jump in the shower.

I noticed that dh's calendar says that our dniece + friend from Germany arrive on Aug. 28 to stay with us, not Aug. 26. I wonder which it is?

Good morning, Helia! I hope you have a lovely time with your friend today. Our DNeighbours T and and S have recently returned from a hiking holiday in Norway, which they said was wonderful (and have the photos to show!) although I did not enquire about the accommodation in the huts they were staying in.

Good morning Kittykatt and thanks for yet another start!
"Pick up my footprints" is an interesting chore...
helia this is a long vacation! Enjoy every moment. :) Are you reading anything good?
LAnn how old is your doggie?

I could use a Mrs Mopp here...

Today:
I have to take DH to an appt. but before DDog has her exercise needs...
I might (or might not) have a DGD after the appt.
There is a Costco list waiting to be done...
Laundry piles waiting for their turn
And, the house, of course, could use some TLC.
I have a couple of E-mails to send

Starting with
D2S
take meds/suppl
walk pup

are you actually going shopping today, kitkat?
hi there, L.Ann!
Hope you will have a lovely day with your friends in Toulon, helia! And yes, do tell us if you dance on the Avignon bridge! :-)
kittykatt, would Mrs. Mopp take commitions and stop by?

In the event I won't be able to commision her, I will have to continue with my cleaning adventures by myself. Done with work today, so I can get fully started!
DBD's room is beginning to resemble a room, not a crime scene, and I've taken advantage of the hot weather and all kids' mattress covers (we don't do big box spring beds here, instead we have mattresses that are bought separately from the bed frame and they are encased in a thick protective "sheet" that zippers all around) are going through the wash today. They never come fully dry from the dryer, so they need a bit of extra time on the airer - and given how hot it is, that "extra time" is about an hour, which is perfect, because by then another one makes it through the washing! :-)
