Re: The Bradshaws Thursday
The Bradshaws are a fictional family created and voiced by the comedian and musician Buzz Hawkins. The show is set in a cosy terraced house in the fictional Manchester suburb of Barnoldswick,.starring Alf,.his wife Audrey and their son Billy. The Bradshaws are a normal working-class family with little money, although they are able to afford a few luxuries (such as Alf's Woodbines)The family was created for The Gary Davies Show with Gary Davies on Piccadilly Radio in 1983 when Hawkins wrote a poem about a family's day trip to Blackpool. This soon developed into a series. In 1986, Hawkins was made producer of The Phil Wood Show, on which he performed more Bradshaws material.
Hawkins would go on to sell cassettes of his Bradshaws episodes, which he still does to this day, as well as doing stand-up, acting and more. The Bradshaws series has been re-released as a 25 volume C.D. collection. The series has gained great popularity in the North and abroad. It has been said that some people still ask who the voice actors are even though all the characters are voiced by Hawkins.

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday!
Just a quick CI as I have an early start. DH has informed me he will be Very Busy today, all day, so that's another reason to leave early, so he has a quiet house.
We had perfect viewing.for the solar eclipse yesterday, I think we had 95% coverage, so not quite as spectacular as the total.exlipse here back in.1999 (?) , but still.amazing!
Have a good day, everyone!

Re: The Bradshaws Thursday
The eclipse was really something, wasn't it, kittykatt?
We had a perfect view of it from the master bedroom balcony. No need to go anywhere, which suited me just fine after a long day at work! Working from home today, and off work tomorrow - last chance to get DBD's room in shape before she returns on Saturday! It's, however, also the pear and apple season, which also keeps me busy. So I better get off my bum and get started on things!

Re: The Bradshaws Thursday
Thank you for starting us off, Kittykatt. It's always fun to get a glimpse of these other shows. I hope that all goes well with your errands.
I'm glad that you got to enjoy the eclipse, trissie. Is there any chance of your recruiting any nearby teenagers to helping with the apples and pears?
I had a good time at the Stitch N Bitch. I tried out a a contraption that lets you see the image from your phone superimposed on a piece of paper. It piqued the interest of the ladies. Then my bff (who knows a lot more than I do) pointed out that the markers I bought from the dollar store can give a water colour effect if I brush a paint brush with plain water over it, so that will be something fun to try.
My poor db is worried about his dcat who ran off when he got caught outside in a downpour. He tried walking up and down and calling for him once the rain stopped. He has left his door unlatched so that the cat can come in overnight, which he has done in the past. We're hoping.

Dogged, I am afraid that when it comes to dried and canned fruits, the teens are only interested in eating them
Hoping the cat will have gone home by the time you wake up!
L.Ann, I had to look up smashed potatoes and now I want them!

Re: The Bradshaws Thursday
Good morning / good afternoon, Trissie, Dogged and L.Ann
How lovely to be able to watch the eclipse from the balcony, Trissie. That makes it really special. We just congregated out on the footpath between the houses. Fortunately the sun was still high enough for the eclipse to finish, before it disappeared behind the trees.
I do hope your friend's cat turns up soon, Dogged.
L.Ann, your smashed potatoes reminded me of the Cadbury's "smash" that was popular in the 1970s. It was basically dehydrated potatoes with goodness knows what else added, so that when you poured hot water over, you got instant "mashed potato". Perhaps the less said about it the better!
So very sorry to read about your DS's dog, Gma.
I'm back home , after church and a.very successful appointment for Matilda's 6 month health check. A clean bill of health, and she behaved herself, so a double win.
It's a very hot 34C / 94F today (fortunately the car and the vets both have A/C) so I'm sitting in the shade for a while and enjoying a late lunch.
