Tuesday Ta Da Tally! PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

It's time to count up some ta das! Everything counts today, keep your tally going. We're busy people!

Here's some cheerful info from Google AI:

"A ta-da list is a running record of tasks you have already accomplished rather than a stressful list of things you still need to do.

What is a Ta-Da List?
The Concept: You flip a traditional to-do list upside down by writing down wins only after you finish them.
The Sound: You say a cheerful, congratulatory "ta-da!" when you look back at what you finished.
The Focus: You celebrate progress instead of staring at unfinished chores.

Mental Health and Productivity Benefits
Positive Reinforcement: Checking off finished items gives your brain a quick boost of motivation and dopamine.
Less Overwhelm: It stops you from feeling defeated by a massive backlog of uncompleted work.
ADHD Support: Most users on Reddit r/ADHD agree that ta-da lists reduce anxiety and help make progress visible on hard days.

How to Make a Ta-Da List
Keep it Handy: Use a clean piece of paper or a notes app on your phone.
Include Small Wins: Write down tiny tasks like brushing your teeth, taking a walk, or sending a tough email.
Choose a Schedule: Update your list at the end of every day or review your wins at the end of the week."

Ta da! Garbage is out! Also, breakfast table clean, laundry going, dog fed, coffee consumed. Next up is to walk the ddog...

I have body work at 10 - aka myofascial massage - and I rescheduled my workout for 3 p.m. Dh is out this p.m. to bowl so I won't be cooking tonight.

WTG, Twins!

Hello, Blessed!

My big TaDa for today was to take Freddie to the vet for his monthly injection (Solensia). We achieved this with NO SWEARING from him (just some hissing and a bit of growling), and no injuries to anyone. Compared to last month, when I had never been so embarrassed in my life by his behaviour, he was a Very Good Boy today.😺

Everything else I achieve today is a bonus. :D

I was very busy yesterday - I didn't mean to complain about it so I erased it. A saying we heard about being French was: To complain is to live lol I was doing that. so that post is gone ;) 8-)

for mom:
today I think I will cut some flowers and have her arrange them
help brush dogs where she can reach
help do her dishes
help with her laundry
clean her sink
leg/feet exercise.

I am making a card file for mom with ideas.
I would like to get her to barnes and n or the library weekly.
she doesn't want to do seniors.

I am late but I will say hello to all of you soon

Interesting distinction about the stress level between "TaDa" and ToDo", Twins'. Thank you.
For me, "ToDos" that are about five items or less mean that I will respond well, "minding" cheerfully. Very do-able by dividing into different times or different areas or different types of tasks. Maybe P and P's remedy of 3x5s, or just clear sections on a page. But "TaDas" - they are inspiring any which way, aren't they?

The spinach was a cooked side dish for my tomato sandwich plate yesterday, blessed. :) I am less adventurous than you think! (But if lettuce tastes good with tomato, why not spinach? )

It got me colorful checkmarks in my "greens" space and my "fruits" space for my TALLY of healthy habits for the day. That's another study in "ToDo and TaDas", I think - I think we respond well when there's a running record like checkmarks, stars, any pleasant symbol, because they are like mini REWARDS.

Glad for Kittykatt and Freddie that the vet visit was calm and cool!

Groceries are put away.
Astonished petunia cuttings are in a brighter window, looking indecisive but not stressed
Laundry underway.

Good morning! I have no real ta-das yet today -- I am db2s. (Dirty body -- I overslept and was just about to head into the shower when the roofers called and said they'd be here in 20 minutes, so I skipped the shower and threw some clothes on. Not wearing the outfit I laid out last night; it was nicer than I'd want to put on a dirty body, so I'm just wearing jeans shorts and a t-shirt, presentable but nothing "nice.") I overslept because today was DH's first day back on a school schedule -- he goes in about an hour later in the summer, so today was an hour earlier than I've been used to, and I fell back asleep. I should check on DC soon; I don't expect the roofing job to take to long (they're sealing off the eaves where the raccoons have been getting in and inspecting (and hopefully, fixing) a leaking dormer), but if they're still here at noon, I will want DC to drive their sister to her dentist appointment. I have a hard time getting anything done when we have contractors -- I feel like I need to keep myself available.

So, ta-das:
• dressed
• breakfasted
• come here.

I'm going to make some milk tea, extra strong, in hopes that it jolts my brain awake; I am still yawning two hours after getting up.

Way to go on your ta-das, everyone (especially Freddie 😸)! Have great day, and hopefully, I'll be back later with more ta-das.
I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder, and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped. -- Prince Humperdinck

Waving to all of you!

kI do a version of the ta daa list I call it my done list and in my one planner that's where I log
mine after that day, or after they are done.

Today I've done a.m. qt & journal items
walked with one of the new neighbors behind me.
Texted when I'm leaving worked great.
We have covered my routes & I told her what I knew about various folks I've met.
We both have dogs.

I got out the pruners and added some rose canes that were in the way of the gate to the trash
can before taking it to the street.

Had bfast.

Saw one young deer on our walk.
Saw several on our walk yesterday.
Red flag warning up today.

Good morning

Ta-DAs =
** A wonderful discovery made when I woke up. I was able to get out of bed without experiencing pain!
** DH situated at his outside sitting area with his coffee & snack. 4 cold water bottles ready for him to give to the trash truck workers when they pick up our trash.
** DS18 woke up and chatting. Mr High Energy literally jumps out of bed when he wakes up.
** DD15 encouraged to get her hair washed before school. She is struggling in finding the right schedule for school mornings for everything. She decided to set her alarm earlier. I suggested she think about showering at night instead of morning.
** I showered and did other AM personal care while enjoying every moment of it. Do you know how nice it is to shower without pain?
** DD15 delivered to school
** Kitchen opened, the drinks made for the day and several dishes prepared. I am experimenting with freeze dried coffee granules. I might be getting a little carried away with my experiments. I found myself wondering what instant coffee in cottage cheese would be like. How will I know unless I try it? I found a recipe that I am trying.

While I have been forced to reduce my activities due to sciatic nerve pain, I have been reading some about Marcus Aurelius which has led me down a rabbit hole with many twists and turns. One thing lead to another and now I am thinking about Keystone Habits: How One Good Habit Changes Everything. I've been mulling over what my keystone habit is.
I keep coming back to the use of SHE cards being my keystone habit. They are my reminders and keep me moving forward doing the things that are important to me.
