Re: Saturday Night at the Movies
Saturday Night at the Movies". Y the Drifters, was taken from their album _The Good Life With the Drifters "(1965).
Saturday night doesn't always have to include loud and crazy fun. Sometimes it's just as good to catch a movie with your best girl: "Who cares what picture you see, when you're huggin' with your baby in the last row of the balcony?" The Drifters' "Saturday Night at the Movies," was written by the famed husband-and-wife songwriting duo Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, and reached No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100.amd number 3 in the UK. The Drifters revisited the song's theme in their later hit, "Kissin' in the Back Row of the Movies."

Re: Saturday Night at the Movies
Good morning, everyone, and happy Saturday!
L.Ann, I'm sure DD had a great time with the Dragon boats yesterday. Enjoy the races today!
WTG with the decluttering, Helia, and how nice to have a clean car! I hope your DBro's visit goes as well as can be expected.
How nice you also have a clean car, KitKat! I hope the shopping wasn't too tedious.
Dogged,.I think Mica's owners may have underestimated ( or just didn't think!) that she needs more calories while she's living outside.with just a little house to shelter in. When they were home,.she did come.8n the house with them.
Gma, how lovely that your niece is coming to stay and you'll have someone to help you tackle your mother's house. Yes, Mica is becoming a lot more friendly, rubbing herself round my legs, having strokes and head rubs and she lets me pick her up. And she's discovered where we live, so she often presents herself on the doorstep if she feels her meal is late!
Yesterday was dry, sunny and not too hot, so I spent it mostly in my garden. The recent rain has definitely perked everything up, so that's encouraging. Today, I'm hoping for more of the same, but with some jobs round the house also included.

Re: Saturday Night at the Movies
Thanks Kitty. So far, things are going as well as can be expected. We've decided to live our lives as usual. We have organized a family dinner tonight, and I might go on an outing to the petting zoo with them this morning. It's supposed to rain all afternoon.
Sounds like a good day for you, some time outside and some inside.
I hope the boat races today are fun for all, L Ann.
I'm up, working on coffee, and dressed to brave the weekly 5K. This way, I'll get in my "longer" run for the weekend by 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Dbro + dniece are up. Not sure what they're eating. He asked what he could bring to help with food, and I told him to bring whatever they like to eat for breakfast, lunch, and snacks since I don't know. As a result, he brought: nothing.
Today: After the morning jog, I might go with dbro + dniece on an outing to the petting zoo. This afternoon, I need to get sides for dinner, take care of that enormous pile of laundry in the MBR, and work on exam prep for payroll, likely in a coffee shop with dh. Dinner is early tonight; dd30 is smoking a brisket, and she says it will be done by 5 pm. I'll need to do some cooking - potatoes, veggies, maybe brownies - it's a bit of a political decision
: dh wouldn't be happy about them, though he's active and thin enough it wouldn't matter for him. Meanwhile, dbro would be thrilled with them and eat most of the pan though he's overweight and diabetic and shouldn't eat them -- but he eats anything he wants and then gives himself a shot afterward. That's how he manages his Type 2 diabetes.
He has explicitly explained that to me.
Next:
- back exercises
- gather everything
7:45 otd to 5K
Later:

Re: Saturday Night at the Movies
Good morning / good afternoon,.Helia and KitKat!
The petting zoo sounds fun, Helia.Re the brownies, it's always nice to have a sweet course - would your DDs like them? Dniece? So long as it isn't too much trouble for you. ( My brownie recipe is very straightforward, but I'm aware others are more complicated and time consuming.) You could always serve fruit, or cheese and crackers as well , as an alternative (or maybe that's a UK thing?
). But no one is being forced to eat them, and DBro is an adult, and responsible for his own choices.
Aww, thank you, KitKat. Five hours shopping is a lot!
I'm having my lunch now. I had planned to bake next, but forgot to take the butter out of the fridge to soften, so that will have to wait. I have, however, got the towels washed while I was tidying upstairs and then getting everyone fed, and taking Freddie for a long (for him!
) walk, so my next job will be to hang them up.

Re: Saturday Night at the Movies
That's good advice, Kitty. Dbro is an adult and responsible for his own actions. Yes, having fruit to go with it is a nice idea. I have some strawberries that need to be used up! Thanks for the encouragement! --OH, I just read about how Mica is warming up to you. What a smart cat - showing up at your doorstep if meals are late.
kitkat, 5 hours is a long time to spend shopping.
You must have been tired afterward. Our recent travels have motivated me to stay in shape - so I can continue to travel. I'm thinking of the times I had to carry my suitcase (carry on) up a LONG flight of stairs in a train station while wearing my backpack (2X) or being able to walk up many flights of stairs in bnb apartment buildings or being able to lift my bag into the overhead compartment of the airplane. Of course, being able to continue hiking in the mountains is motivation of itself.
I finished the 5K run with a very bad headache, unusual for me. It has subsided a little; I think it is sinus/ congestion related. I'm drinking water.
Dbro and dniece are out running errands. I need to s2s next.
