Re: Make your Monday Marvelous!! August 24, 2026
Balance is a good word for the day, bw2. I could use a little balance also.
I'm going to go to dfriend M's for a glass of wine late this afternoon and to meet her new little girl-dog, Poppy. So happy that they have a new dog to love.
I took out pork chops for our dinner. Maybe corn on the cob and a green salad. Or sweet potato instead of corn.
My mood is looking up. I received an email this a.m. regarding the cemetery storm damage insurance claim, and we'll receive a substantial payment. Yet, the damage to trees was limited to 1K per tree for two trees, and it was 7K to get them out. And we have a $5K deductible. Still, that will make a difference in how I'm feeling about the clean up.
And another weight off, I ordered swim suits for the beach trip next month. We're leaving the morning after Rosh Hashanah, and return on the day we have to be at services at 7:30 and sit on the pulpit. (that equals, clothes ready when I return.) Last year I just kept wearing too big swimsuits. Not sure what size I need but ordered two sizes of a couple of styles so what doesn't fit/don't like will go back.
I need to send a cemetery update to the cemetery board too. I have finally edited dh's fundraising letter re temple window covers - we have beautiful stained glass windows and have installed clear outside covers for protection - previously they were filters so you couldn't really see the window detail. I have procrastinated on the editing for him...
Nice to get a little walk in too, LadyM.

I'm doing marvelously well today!
So far -- yes, I am aware that it is a few minutes past noon as I begin this post --
BUT I am d2s (no make-up yet) and I have done my Bible reading
* ooops, I broke my rule -- do not leave kitchen until I have drunk my Metamucil... will do that now...
and I have
* talked to the lady at the bank, and the secretary at church, to try to find a missing check
(It is in the mail, but around here, it seems sometimes mail goes to the North Pole before it returns to our Tiny Town.
* brought the garbage can to the house
* reset my modem to get ring doorbells back online
* talked to ticket office at College Town
* downloaded tickets and transferred two of them to dbil
* talked to dsisil
-- when dbil comes in for lunch, she will let me know if the transfer worked and then I will send four more tickets to her cousin.
-- And after the 5th of September, I will get $555 back! I told dsisil, it doesn't get all the fees we pay back, but it is a nice little bonus after all the fees are paid and gone, then to get a little bit of it back!
* made my bed (This only means the covers are pulled up nice and neat. I don't bother with pillow shams and all that stuff.)
-- waiting for the plumber this afternoon * hopefully * and preparing for ballgame tonight.

My recuperation has been slow and I have not pushed myself. Yesterday HRH encouraged me to take good old pink OTC for tummy and, well, couldn't hurt, maybe helped.
I think I may have gotten credit here for potting up a plant? That seems to be my laurel upon which to rest, lol.
Slowly whittling simple items from short lists. This morning I ordered 3 scripts from pharmacy.
Had said there were 2 appts this week. Sadly, turns out there are 3. Two on the same day ... .. in different cities. And the second of those my blood work,
Well, wanted to chat butphone call says some company on the way. BBl

Re: Make your Monday Marvelous!! August 24, 2026
Good afternoon! My biggest plans for the day are done -- a trip to the psychiatrist office for DD. It is odd how the different doctors handle ADHD medicines that are controlled substances. The kids' doctor will prescribe three months at a time but requires at least one in-person visit per year. I've been seeing mine virtually only for well over a year (though I have seen him in person before), but his medical system will let him prescribe only one month at a time, so I have to contact his office for refills. Hmm... it looks like this is a money grab, which the Clinic is well known for doing. I just checked my MyChart to see if the latest refill went through, and it is listing me as having had a telephone visit. Grr.
I need to do laundry, too, Cathy, although in my case, I am behind. I can get by because temperatures have gotten a little cooler here, so I can wear capris instead of shorts, but I am getting to the point where my dress choices are fancy or ratty -- all the day-to-day stuff is in the wash.
We will cheer you on, Lauralind! *\o/* *\o/* *\o/*
What are you listening to, Nancy?
Weekends are for play, Twins! And you've gotten a lot done today -- enjoy that glass of wine!
Sounds like you're keeping the family running like clockwork, LadyM! Congrats on the milestone! (Dare I tell you that we are about 30°F cooler than you?)
How is your poor dog's paw doing, blessed? Hmm... clutter in motion or clutter in stasis? I will have to watch that video.
You're cooking with gas, lucylee! I hope that plumber comes.
Sorry you were under the weather, Harriet, and glad you are on the mend. Two appointments in different cities? Well, I guess that day is shot.
I need to do dishes, probably with the kids' help. It looks like the Augean stables in there. I swear I remember doing dishes this weekend! After that and the laundry, I should look at my to-do list; one thing I remember on there is writing a script for when I call the state about the expired registration on late DFIL's car. (I may have mentioned this already, but we couldn't renew the registration because we couldn't get the emissions check because the car wasn't running. We'd like to get the car running again but still have the same problem until it is running, and we can take it for the check. So I need to know the way out of the Catch-22.)
Yikes! Look at the time! To the kitchen I go! Have a great day, everybody!

Re: Make your Monday Marvelous!! August 24, 2026
A little bit of cooking accomplished. Although not enough dishes made to feed the family for the next 24 hours or so.
** Two pounds of elbow macaroni cooked. Half of it made into Mac & Cheese and the other half made into pasta salad
** Dozen eggs hard boiled and made into deviled eggs.
Meat is thawing.
Teriyaki Chicken and meatloaf will be made in a little bit.
I am changing the method that I use to water my garden. Using sprinkler system is easier but it doesn't come close to how well the garden does when I water by hand while putting eyes on each plant. Also I get greater pleasure with being more eyes and hands on (and maybe even a little conversation happening with each of the plants). The sprinklers are being removed from the garden. They can be used to water the grass while Astra & Sam enjoy playing in the water spray.
We have to physically go to doctor office each month for ADHD refill. At some point, it seems to become easier to just stop taking it than to continue to jump through the hoops to keep getting the refills.

it took me three hours decluttering dd youngers dog stuff - I pulled it all together from all over the house (especially her bedroom that she stays in when she is here. So many decisions - so many things were still really nice but I don't think people want those things in the donation bins. I felt a lot guilt but tossed more than half away.
