Hoping LadyM's dd feels better. There are a lot of variables on the volunteering, of course, LadyM. My ds translated an early interest as a voluunteer into a career that he has found very rewarding. Volunteering is a lot of work and time-consuming, with quite a bit of worry and responsibility, etc. I hope he learns a lot.

Our visitor was pleasant. I had time to sweep up a bit. The house was fine, though.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ROSE!!! I know you've probably gone to bed already. Maybe you'll see this in the morning.

Y'all aren't going to believe this. I have lined up the plumber for 6:30 in the morning. YES. Me, the confirmed night owl. I must have lost my mind.
No... it was just that time, or wait for him to get back to town after the already-scheduled part of his day, which might put him here at 8:00 p.m.
I just couldn't do that to him; plus, I prefer to get him while he's fresh for the day, rather than at the end of a LONG day, when all he can think of is getting home to his wife and baby.
I really don't have high hopes for him to be able to fix this, but maybe he will surprise me. I personally think this may be a complicated problem.
The appliance store who sent the Maytag repairman never called me back.

BTW -- dgs did not get in to the game (and quite a few also spent their time on the sidelines.) We lost 28-0, and actually, I'm glad he had no responsibility for it. But ds said the head coach said, after the 7th and 8th graders won 8-0, that we were about to see a different sort of game. One of the refs (a former teammate of ds') said, "Why, are they (the other team) that good?" The coach said, "Nooo... it's just that I've got a 10th grade quarterback and my best two running backs are 10th graders, so everybody that needs to be playing tonight has already played Friday night."
DDIL are hoping for different results next week, but ddil also said that dgs just really doesn't care -- he has the best view in the house where he's standing there on the sidelines, and he's just proud to be there. (A Minnie Pearl quote, Harriet.)

I'm still stewing a little over conversation with dbil... where I almost talked him out of letting me keep $185. DDIL thinks I definitely should take it!
I think I will. If we want to talk about who owes who... he'll never catch up with all he owes me after dh's generosity in settling their parents' estate. So I should take that money and be happy. He knows he has a lot better financial picture than I do.

I guess I'll go shower and take a little nap before the plumber arrives. If I am absent tomorrow, y'all will know I went back to sleep!
