Tawny owls (Strix aluco) are the familiar brown owls of Britain’s woodlands, parks and gardens. They are known for their ‘too-wit too-woo’ song that can be heard at night-time.
Tawny owls are the biggest common owl familiar in Britain’s woodland, parks and gardens. The ‘too-wit too-woo’ call often referred to as being the song of the generic owl, is that of the tawny owl. But it isn’t the call of a single bird, but instead made by a male and female calling to each other. The female makes a ‘too-wit’ sound and the male answers with ‘too-woo’!

The tawny owl is mottled reddish-brown, with a paler underside. It has a big, round head, rounded wings, large, dark eyes, and a dark ring around its face.

They often sit on their favourite perch on the lookout for small animals like voles and mice to eat. They nest during springtime in hollow trees, or sometimes choose to reuse an old crow’s nest!

Like other owls, tawny owl can famously turn their head through 270 degrees and are able to look behind them. Although owls have binocular vision, their forward-facing eyes cannot move in their sockets, so they must turn their heads instead.

Good morning, everyone, and happy Tuesday!

Helia, I hope the muscle pain and the headache are better today.

Happy birthday to DS15,. Trissie. The photo is beautiful!

L.Ann, I.hope you enjoy breakfast out and your last day with Little Bit before she starts school.
- is she excited?

FFB, I've sent you a PM. I'm glad you survived the day at work. No boss around must have made it easier! The last I heard from Mica's owners was 19th August, when they delayed their return again.

Dogged,.I'm sure Germame.looks beautiful after her visit to the groomers..The pen sounds.a.very good idea - hopefully a. smaller area.will help her feel more.secure
and less lost when her dementia is bad .

Gma,.I'm not surprised you're tired, you've been working very hard! How kind of you to donate the cat basket.

I had some time in my garden, got upstairs clean and.tidy yesterday afternoon, fed everyone,.and not much else done! Still, today is a new day. :D

Today is cloudy and pleasantly cool so far. I have fed everyone, taken Fred for his walk and had a good chat with DNeighbour P.

Freddie is currently on my lap while I'm drinking my coffee. I need to empty the hoover (preferably before the dustmen come,.if my Overlord will permit!😺 ) and have a few minutes in my garden before I start the housework.
