Ahh, Nancy, I know that I often measure how good my life is by noting that I have time to (crochet, knit, embroider, hardanger, sew - choose any!)
Glad you can find time to knit on a prayer shawl. Prayers for yourself and for others.

My grandson is taking a century old commode that my mother refinished to college. I am trusting that he will take good care of it. To protect the top from scratches (and water marks I hope not) I found a piece of heavy upholstery fabric to make a runner. For the first time I made mitered corners! They turned out really well. (I might have to think of something else I can make using that technique. )
Hooray for internet sewing instructions!

Gma, I'm sure your dgs will be thoughtful about the furniture he brings from home, but of course my instinct says others may not, lol. I think you are very wise to send along the runner. I have some old tapestry-look upholstery fabric here that I am sure I'll do something with someday! Miters - good for you. I am trying to decide whether to miter the corners of the final border of the quilt. Ultimately, I don't think it will be appreciated by others that I took the time. But corners on a furniture runner could be noticed often.
I left the light color cotton in the machine and mended the pillowcase my dfirstmil made for me years ago. It's worth it to me to keep it as long as I can. Then I changed out to dark all-purpose and began other mending. Happily, another pair of slacks is now into my wardrobe. It was "off" in its hem by about an inch and a quarter for me, which was surprisingly too long - sometimes I can get away with off-the-rack, but I find that happens more often in jeans. Now I think it "breaks" at the top of shoe about at the right place. I had already hemmed a similar pair and got them a little short, I think. But I may be the only one who sees it - I'm sure I'm the only one who cares, lol.

Harriet one thing I love about my singer I got just before the pandemic is that it
has a clear bobbin cover case and I can see how much bobbin thread I have on it.
Genius
who ever came up with that!
Ta daa I remembered to get a quilt batt!
I have decided that my next knitting will be dish cloths I have the yarn.
Not for a while however.
Resting a bit after doing 2 errands it's warming up today.
Then I'll get some other tasks done like ordering the back I'll use a sheet.
Need to do some stuff on the forms of info. first.

When is your birthday, Nancy?
I just did the last crochet stitch on my dsis2 birthday present! I will hand sew on the closure tomorrow.
Then it will be ready to wrap and mail.
But my niece (daughter of dsis3) is coming tomorrow evening, and of course I want to show it to her before I get it ready to mail.

My birthday is Sept. 2nd.
I have more items to decide on and it was not all in the same box so aditl. shipments are coming.
I got the bird bath set up and glad the birds found it in a day or two.
I have all the items I ordered but a couple of non - birthday items a book and a planner that will be here early next week.
I have been knitting the the current project is to the last few rows now.
I have some things I put off bc of the summer heat and will be on next month's calendar so less time for crafting.
