Re: Tambourine Tuesday
The tambourine is a musical instrument in the percussion family consisting of a frame, often of wood or plastic, with pairs of small metal jingles, called "zills". Classically the term tambourine denotes an instrument with a drumhead, though some variants may not have a head. Tambourines come in many shapes with the most common being circular.
Tambourines are often used with regular percussion sets. They can be mounted, for example on a stand as part of a drum kit (and played with drum sticks), or they can be held in the hand and played by tapping, hitting, or shaking the instrument.
The origin of the tambourine is unknown, but it appears in historical writings as early as 1700 BC and was used by ancient musicians first in Ancient Egypt, the Ancient Near East and eventually to Greece and other places. The tambourine passed to Europe by way of merchants or musicians.Tambourines were used in ancient Egypt, where they were known as the tof to the Hebrews, who mainly used the instrument in religious contexts.
The word tambourine finds its origins in French tambourin, which referred to a long narrow drum used in Provence, the word being a diminutive of tambour "drum," altered by influence of Arabic tunbur "drum". from the Middle Persian word tambūr "lute, drum".

Re: Tambourine Tuesday
Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday!
Dogged, I find very often when cleaning or decluttering that things often look a lot worse before they look better. But eventually there comes a point where you do see signs of improvement. Cheering you on with all your progress.
Gma, your supper sounded delicious! When do you start your road trip?
So, it's back to work Tuesday here. DH is frustrated as it's now very evident he won't be retiring at the end of September as planned. He is on a.chort.of.around 500,.and so far,.JR and the pension department have managed to process a grand total.of exactly one.
(apparently they are short staffed. If that is the case, I've no idea why they don't recruit some more pension experts on a temporary basis. I'm sure any agency would be able to oblige.) I'm sure it will.work.out in the end, but I'm not the one who is continuing to work when they'd rather be doing something else.
Still, September has an aura of new beginnings (maybe tied in with the start of the new school year here?) so I need to look forward , and enjoy these autumn days.

Re: Tambourine Tuesday
Wow Kitty. Just one? That seems beyond a matter of being short-staffed.
I'm popping in quickly. I'll be otd in 10 minutes to do the school drop off today; dh can't do it because he's running.
On the schedule today:
7:35 otd to school drop off (yesterday both drop off and pick up were crazy, backing up the school drives and the road the school is on)
10 - 12ish (I'm guessing) window washer guys here
sometime this morning: KS2J get together here
pay gardener KJ - she'll be here at some point too
get groceries for Tuesday dinner - 8-9 people
do a little cleaning and help dh cook: 12 -13 people (he's making extra to bring friends tomorrow)
6::30 - 8:30ish host Tuesday dinner - 8-9 people

Re: Tambourine Tuesday
Yes, Gma, I'm taking a break from jogging for a week or so and switching to walking -- on the flat. Hills are painful. I'll continue to go to my personal trainer AS for my weekly strength work outs, but I think I'm going to ask him not to do any activity that would engage my glutes/ hips/ hamstrings. I've thought of PT, but I think I'd need to go to my PCP first to get a referral (though maybe not with new plan?), and I think it's not quite that bad. It's in the back of my mind, though.
trissie, we have our niece and her best friend. You asked at some point who was with our niece here.

Re: Tambourine Tuesday
Morning all. Hmmm seems like even if I put on the remember me setting I have to sign in every time almost. Oh well it's just a couple more clicks.
Kittykat that is really odd that dh word of retirement date isn't just that's when I am done but on their timing?
Helian I hope you heal from the sore muscles. My neck and headaches are more again than for a time. Tomorrow is another physio day. I didn't have to go to dr first for this one but I'm in a different country...
I have to figure out how to get dd classes set for him. Maybe I will call the school during the day. Do I book in to see the scheduler or maybe talk to him on the phone? Or go there tomorrow? I feel like ds would do better setting it up on his own with them. With a bit of a heads up to what happened in summer from me.
In other news -- my mom is moving. Finally after 9 months she is going to the official long term care home. It's just across the street from the hospital. The nurses have done such a wonderful job caring for her but in her own room without seeing others much outside the times of the day program. She'll likely have her own room but meals and day time is often out in common areas. Activity and people coming and going. So much better. We need another whole wing on that place for the wait list here. And the sad part it always means someone else passed away to make room
.
Anyway I need to do a few routines and get off to work.

Re: Tambourine Tuesday
Thank you, Kittykatt. It would be easy for you with your excellent organization to be impatient with those of us paddling in the shallows, but you are consistently kind and encouraging. Now that we are in September, I am in pre-vacation mode, and some of that is extra motivation to get my surroundings organized better for work spaces.
I feel for your DH! I remember how I felt when I realized that I could retire at least temporarily on my pension. It was such a relief, like the clouds parting and the sun coming out.
(((helia))) I hope that the break from jogging will help your legs to heal.
Lauralind, that is wonderful news that your dm is moving to a residence that can give her the best possible care.
I hope that the school bookings are easy to sort out.
I'm glad that you got your walk in while it is still comfortable, L.Ann.
Tuesday
Put on a pot of coffee
Cleaned up after Germane
Heart pill and peanut butter for Germane
Made pre-vacation grooming booking for Germane
