Friday PWYC: September is the New January

Hi!

I'm leaving to go to Friday afternoon group shortly. Dh has been sleeping for most of the past 6 hours. (Since I got up.)

All pans, dishes and large utensils are done. I have 2 pots in the sink. We are having leftovers tonight.

I hope to have a labour free weekend!! Monday is a holiday here. I intend on reading for the next 3 days.

I have the last load in the washer now.
Cooked up lunch so I can enjoy a warmer kitchen.
Getting to enjoy the pond build vid. series I've been enjoying
my bday week getting to see it as part of my fun.
I pushed the chair on the deck out to the sunny part of the deck to dry out
after the rains we had overnight.

Deciding if I will do digging holes for new tulips and transplanting them
and dig out the volunteer roses that are in front of the gate.

Hey, all! Trying to keep things short -- dfriend K is supposed to come by in about an hour and a half. She has no power after storms came through here yesterday. Our other dfriend H has had no power since storms came through yesterday morning, so even longer. No storms now, but it has been raining all morning. I think it's drying up, though I don't think that today's first ballgame, itself a makeup for one rained out earlier in the season, will start on time. DH and DD are going to today's second ballgame, which is sort of a makeup for them -- the game they had originally gone to ended up being played, but there was such a long rain delay (the drainage in our stadium needs to be redone) that they gave folks a choice of games to go to as compensation.

Anyhow... K is going to come over and charge a few things. She said their refrigerator was pretty much empty -- if you're going to have a power outage, have it when you're due for a grocery run anyway!

Still no meds, still distracted. Didn't get to Michael's yesterday and not likely to today.

Going to have some lunch before K gets here! Have a great day, everybody!

Quickly cuop because I have been a total slug so far today. After the stomach upset for a few days (which I am not sure I am ready to trust just yet) AND the social time last night, I just stayed in bed really late... and talked to my dmom for a while -- she had forgotten to bring my card in last night! She called to ask WHY didn't I remind her??? LOL... I knew she might have left it at home, but I figured I'd get it eventually.

Harriet, I have a rail on the right side of my steps, as you're going up. It's only 3 steps, and at the top of the steps there's a wall. Dmom wants me to put some sort of support handle there, on that wall. She brought me a shower grip bar, the kind with the suction cups, but it will not stay in place on that wooden wall. I saw a sort of handle I think would work better when I was in Tractor Supply the other day, and I think I will get that and let ds install it. (It will have to be screwed in with a drill.)

Forever Amber. If my maiden name had been anything different, my name might have been Amber. As it was, my first and last names would have rhymed, and dmom thought that sounded funny. She read the book also in her teenage years, Rose, and she just loved the name.
I haven't read it yet. I need to check it out on my library app.
I read Gone with the Wind for the first time in middle school, I think. It has always been my favorite book, along with To Kill a Mockingbird, I guess.

I have GOT to s2s... smh... It is after 1:00 pm and all I have done is
* talk to dmom
* pay the yard man
* check bank balance (no, I have not reconciled the statement yet)
* drunk my Metamucil and eat breakfast

I want to go to town because the cattlemen's association is selling steak sandwiches today. They are always so good.

OH -- kittykat -- I just saw your post from last night. I definitely use my planner along with my calendar AND my 3x5s... I'm a little obsessive. I actually have a purse calendar, a wall calendar in the kitchen, and a wall calendar in the bathroom. (I mostly use that one to keep up with my weight and exercise.)

Home from errands. Alterations won't be ready for three weeks, this shop is very popular, so I won't be able to wear these on vacation or at temple. Anyway, we have a cruise coming up in Nov and I do need clothes that fit me.

Dh is out. I am going to veg out this afternoon.

Nancy, I appreciated that idea yesterday about Washi tape and then simply re-cutting the correct holes you need for pages. I had thought of the little reinforcement circles around the correct holes, but hadn't thought of "reinforcing" the whole line to make sure.

blessed, that sounds like an affirming day at your house.

The world seemed in slow motion on our trip to errands. At each stop, delay, delay. Only the traffic was with us, so it was a good time of morning for that. Anyway, all done.

Our small bathroom is so quaintly bitsy. I can make it look inviting, but I can't keep it from being cramped. And you never notice it so much as when you try to clean .

Today I dug out the roses vol. runners by the back gate rested then picked them up.
Dug holes for two bags of tulips pink for one hole and one of red got them planted.
It was dry in the bottom and hard to dig, so I watered them in.

Duds are dry next I need to get them folded.

Thank you for the explanation and advice about planners. I think it's something for me to consider in the future, especially with the changes to our lives when DH does retire (probably sometime later this year. The date was originally 30th September, it's very clear that's not happening!).

LucyLee, I studied To Kill a Mockingbird as a set book for my O Level exams (precursors to the current GCSEs, and which are taken at 16+) and I really enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the film with Gregory Peck!!!
