Morning all. That is allot of plums trissie. I hope dbd feels better soon. I've lost track what grade is she this year. Not so little anymore. Ds is grade 10? At least I think he's a year behind mine.
Gma that's a long drive. I forget where you're off too. Wait did lann go somewhere too?
Sometimes I feel sorry for germane doggedly. She can't help herself anymore. She definitely keeps you on your toes.
I read that Spanish poem. I need a refresher course. 30 years ago I was on a mission team 4 months in Mexico where we did language school. We knew enough to translate some of our songs and the like. I can still read and pronounce it tho .y accent is probably off. A few words I have to compare but close... I just had this random thought maybe I should duolingo German. Ds is in german at school and by the start of our band group last night with 7 of us 3 of them were bantering away in German. Very large German group here including some friends from church. In this corner I think German is more common than French. Hah maybe another hobby?
Anyway maybe we can get started on school tomorrow? A very civil conversation with ds last night. I think he is ok . Made a deal... he's in German which leads to a very small class. Law hs was almost looking forward to. Chemistry has the best teacher in the school he says.. so try it see if it goes well. And online grade 10 foundation math. Next semester is chem 12. English. I think that art metal. And there's a pe class that can give way to online something... accounting. Economics... now he's talking reachable. Office job. Research. Discovery. Accounting. We can work with that. Driving still scares him a lot. One step at a time. Now we just have to accomplish tomorrow.
I think he's not giving enough credit to once he gets back with his friends he will feel better. He's got a minimal few but that's ok... he has not seen anyone but us and family all summer. By choice...apparently one of his other classmates did the same thing.
Today.... now I've got to get in the garden. No choice.

Re: Gabriela Mistral Monday @ TDD - C&C
Lovely poem and author, trissie! Thanks to duolingo, I could read most of the Spanish - I didn't know all the vocab though. And I read (and liked) Ursula Le Guin as a young adult! I didn't realize she knew Spanish. Ooh - plum baking!! What are you baking?
Gma, so glad to read the travels are going well so far. Yes - that sounds like what I'm experiencing. I might need to buy a donut cushion. Do you have ischial bursitis as well? Do you have discomfort/ tension in the upper back of your thighs?
I hope you were able to get in a walk and work in your garden, Kitty.
Sleep well Doggedly.
Maybe ds will enjoy being back with his few friends more than he thinks he will, Lauralind. Good luck with your garden work!
Thinking of Bama. I miss hearing about her DDs and her animals. I hope her dh is doing OK - and that she is doing OK.
Also thinking of kitkat. Seems we haven't heard from her in a while. I hope all is well. Maybe she's on vacation.
I'm up late but also went to bed late last night. I need to work on that habit tonight - earlier to bed would be good.
Today: This morning, I'm joining dd28 and Fable at the dog park! I'm so happy - I haven't been there since before our trip to Europe. I can walk slowly with them - well, with dd28. Fable will not be moving slowly. She'll be running around with the other dogs. LOL! Our girls are hosting a cook out at their house tonight at 5. I think we'll need to make and bring some side dishes. I'm not sure what we'll (probably I'll as dh is still busy with his papers) be making yet. I have one more task for payroll to help prep for session 8, which starts on Wednesday. I think I have a sub on Wednesday, a concession I made to dh who is concerned about my teaching and my bursitis.
I'll BBL with proper lists.
Next:
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- to the dog park!
Later:
- WF
- make something for cook out tonight
- lunch
- after lunch clean up
- payroll: update website - materials
- payroll: update timesheet (admin tasks are not part of the regular pay)
- payroll: create GC once I get the template
- payroll: work on D1 plans -- I'll need to make sub plans
- payroll: make syllabus for AI AS
- make _____ for cook out tonight
- 5pm cook out at dd30's house
- duolingo
- update WW
- update MFP
- reading time
- update goodreads
TaDas!
- up; weighed self - up a couple pounds since Friday.
So, I can't eat ice cream every night and not exercise.
- coffee
- weather website and email deletions

Re: Gabriela Mistral Monday @ TDD - C&C
helia, since I have to leave in about 10 minutes for the PTO meeting and then make a run to Tesco, whatever I will be baking will have to be easy and not take too much time. But my DAunt was posting a plum/poppyseed cake recipe that I may want to try! Good luck with your adventures and take it easy at the park!
lauralind, if you were familiar with German grammar and vocabulary once, then I think duolingo will work very well for you to freshen it up. Languages with difficult/alien grammar are hard to learn with the way duolingo works, but if it was there once, the app is really good to dig it up and put to good use!

Re: Gabriela Mistral Monday @ TDD - C&C
Where is your bursitis helia. Ischial is not familiar for me. Mine was right in the hip joint. At the spot I was sleeping on. Came on almost suddenly. Made all of my leg and hip sore. My leg felt like it was going to give out on me. Dd and I were moving at the same pace her being 7 1/2 months along then.
I'm still waiting for my little one... maybe labor day will be the lucky labor day?
Spanish and French I am familiar with. I grew up in a part culture of low German. A different dialect I'm not sure if that's still in Europe. I could understand some of it when I was younger. It's dwindling but it still makes mom smile cause it was her first language. Very different though. If it's different from French and Spanish then I might not know. I think language can come fairly easy. I could be wrong.

Re: Gabriela Mistral Monday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning (to me), all! I did have a good sleep, thank you, trissie, after a few false starts. Poor Germane was sundowning, so she'd face the vacuum cleaner or table legs etc. and call for help. Not a pain cry or great distress, but definitely unhappy. I would turn on the light so that she could see and then I would set her down in front of things in case it was what she wanted. But after we did that a few times, she settled in and we both slept well.
While I was typing this, Germane woke up and wandered around happier, but still dozey. I got her to her pee pads and she peed beside them. I swear that she thought that she was still on the pee pad.
I had no idea that Ursula Le Guin could speak Spanish, let alone worked as a translator. You never know what you're going to learn here.
WTG on your productive day!
For the most part, Germane is happy, Lauralind. Confused, but mostly happy. I am so relieved that in her confused state she likes to be picked up and carried around so I am able to comfort her.
Right now she is smelling her slow cooker and she has no confusion about what she wants, LOL. She just has to wait a little because of her heart pill.
That is great that your ds is working with you to get his courses sorted out.
I am impressed with all of our dSHEs who can speak Spanish. I took German one year in school, and thoroughly enjoyed it, but have never tried Spanish.
I hope that you enjoy your walk in the dog park, helia, and that it's not too much for your leg.
Bama must be back from her cruise by now. I hope that she pops in to tell us how it was.
We haven't heard from kitkat since Toronto had that big storm. I've been wondering if she was among the ones who lost power.
And now, an hour has passed since Germane's heart pill and there is a little dog behind my chair who will be very happy to sample some of her slow cooker.

Re: Gabriela Mistral Monday @ TDD - C&C
Hi everyone. We are back from our short trip to Virginia. The house was lovely and I enjoyed the caverns which I had never seen. Little Bit and DD33 enjoyed the bonfires with s’mores and hot dogs. We leave again on Thursday for a long weekend in Utah so I can’t just sit and do nothing which would be my preference.
