Starting the week on a Tuesday PWYc

Hurray, Hurrah! I caught HRH on his way through the kitchen in a good mood and nudged him toward my old rug dilemma. He held the tall shelving back so I could pull the edge of the rug out. He rolled it up (6x4? slightly larger?) stepped outside with it and plopped it into the trash can! Ta...DA. He continued on his way, lol. So, I guess we both agreed that rug had long outlived its usefulness. I just need to vacuum all around there now and also need to order a more reasonably sized new door mat-type rug for the space - 2x3, 3x4 ? - thinking.

Had a good brunch including the cup of hot green tea. I actually use 2 bags for that because it doesn't seem to bother me if it is strong and I really don't want (and never remember) a second serving of it through the day as recommended.

Have left the dragonfruit. Maybe later. Wondering if dgdC would enjoy making it into dragonfruit balls with me. By rights, I should do that with her rather than make brownies. Don't know if I'll get that change of plans past HRH.

Well-protected furniture - there's a visual that goes along with that. I can see it in a couple rooms here. Yipes.

Bw2, Gracie is a Retriever, is she not? they are such sweet dogs!

Harriet, I'm not sure I can narrow it down to five her. There is so much pressing on my brain to get things ready here. And the brain is pinging about beach things too, remember this, clean travel CPAP, inventory beach bag....It will be what it will be. We can purchase things there as well if we have to.

I avoid making a list the evening before because there's so much and I am just tired and don't want to think. I need a trip to the mall at some point for returns. I'm going to the DAR meeting only tomorrow a.m. because there is a motion someone is making and I strongly disagree. Should I get my thoughts together enough to make a comment? Should I plan to go to the mall tomorrow because I'll be out already? Or should I go to the mall today because I have a long day with dh being out this p.m.? Also need to pick up new mattress pad at Target before dcleaning lady comes on Thursday a.m., but that's in a different direction. And I really should call the vet and get sentinel for the dog,

So here I sit, lol.

OK, called vet re Sentinel and Seresto collar for dMillie and will pick up later today or in the morning. That's in a different direction but could be combined with Target trip.
I recall those days so well! Even now its the same.

my attempts at teaching them coping skills are just perceived as nagging. Not sure what to do with that.

Good morning

Mystery - Happy Birthday! Sending wishes for a day filled with love and good memories.

It's definitely a Monday on Tuesday here. Getting teens back on schedule went smoothly. They are good at self-motivation with just a few minor aut-ohs.

I spent a couple hours in the kitchen this morning cooking dishes to take to Elderberry luncheon today. DH slept in this morning and didn't notice that I was cooking more than usual. I have learned not to tell DH about these types of events before time because he stresses over them. ANYway, after everything was cooked and packed to travel, I told DH that today was Elderberry luncheon and asked if he wanted to attend. He wasn't enthusiastic about it which is surprising because he always loves attending these luncheons with lifelong friends. I could have told DH that "we are going", but I decided to let it go. I admit to being cautious (overly?) this week with him on new epilepsy prescriptions and having a UTI. Sooooo.... I have a huge amount of food ready to eat. Thankfully, the food won't go to waste because the teens will take care that possibility.

No I rarely take ddoggo anywhere b/c of the hot rigs thing and they are very strict about the
dog left in a car. With out some one to watch her while I go inside and shop.

Got my yarn shoes Rx did the banking & 2 acorn squash to stuff with meatloaf.
Weather is great here today.
got the mail and can is back from the road.

Put my order in for the refills on my planner guts for the new year and
two more covers so I have one for each season now.

Ds called, "Can someone pick up my kids?"
Absolutely!
(I was by myself - he didn't need to know about that, lol.)
He says, "We're in a MESS here at the station." So, I am sure there will be stories, since "mess" is a word to use with mother, not other firefighters. But I just quickly got his tips and directions about where to turn in, what to look for, and took off. I drove out very competently with my new eyes and accomplished grand-transport (lol) to help out the family. Sometimes ddil can pinch-hit, but today she must have been working away from home or something. It is usually ds, after work, since he goes in so early.

Nancy that makes sense - I was thinking of walks or chatting with neighbors. You are the early bird with ordering your planner guts. I keep turning 'round and 'round. Each of 3 types has its problems with being what I need. We'll see.

Twins', yes, the hazard with a 5x5 (or 5 by any hour) is that maybe more than 5 could fit the label, "priority". I try to whittle down to bare bones for that, but sometimes you do risk some discouragement. And especially when new tasks pop up and have to be squeezed in. Delegate, push on until later, carry-over. "We can only do what we can do."

The vacuum simply did not vacuum, even after we thought the obstruction was gone. We struggled with it again. Sigh. Finally, after using a long dowel, the culprit was discovered - a small water bottle cap had wedged just-so against the accordion sides of the hose, way down, and kept creating new blockages. Whew! I was beginning to think it required a repair.

So, ~~ Whoosh ~~ ! Efficiency again.

The phrase I remember hearing when folks in my childhood got a vacuum cleaner that did a good job (which really can change everything in cleaning) :

"Now you're cooking with gas!"

I waited too long on one last spring a journal it got sold out and they never restocked.
I try to get on the ball with these around my bday each year.
Sort of a late gift I waited on to get glad I did the two covers were less than half of the price
for the purple one I was going to get must have been leather.
Had to wait for the Bank and Rx places to open today.

Did a journal session of my morning outside in the sun to warm up.
Then got changed and planted tulips. Did three more areas of them.
Yea for the wagon and separating them in to 8 bulbs for each hole.
They are pink shades maybe a purpley one or two in with them.
I watered them in.

I got a purple visor at the thrift store washed it up and it's hanging on the deck rail drying now.
It was 51* here last nite.

Yes the ddoggo goes on walks so does the gals that I walk with they have dogs too.

So I worked upstairs awhile but didn't finish. Dh got home so I came down to talk to him, and spend some time down stairs...

Was not productive. A neighbor sent me an email on Saturday asking me to call her. I called back today - she's a retired attorney and is concerned about the HOA liability regarding the sidewalk issue. We talked a while, she made a phone call to a former coworker and recommended that we spend an hour or two to consult the attorney who wrote the HOA restrictions and covenants. She also recommended we review our liability insurance. UGH. I don't want to do a deep dive into this but it might be prudent. And she suggests that we not communicate by email so much. We had to laugh, I told her that as a former CPA I wanted the paper trail, and she said as an attorney she had to protect people from the consequences of their paper trail.

Just what I need to be thinking about, but I'm glad she called.

Dh is heading out in a minute to bowl.

no efficiency here. I fell asleep at 10:30 until 1:30 and then laid on the couch and fell asleep again -
woke up and found d helper and d mom asleep.

The plus I do feel extremely rested. my turn for mom.mom is now up.

Did I say there would be stories? Today an emergency made the trip to the fire department, rather than the other way around.

A car lost control and went through the fire dept parking lot at what police estimate as 45 to 50 mph. Headed for the brick wall of the office beside ds' office, right where other officers were seated at a desk. But, parked in the way of worse tragedy, right at the building, the big (nearly-new) Fire Marshall vehicle took the initial blow. So, with no people in the parking lot at the time, and the impact to/into the building slowed by something that would absorb it somewhat (and become a total loss itself), no one outside the car was hurt.

Other firefighters began to help the driver, who was responsive but the most injured and needed the most attention. Ds helped a child in the back seat who did not seem to be injured but was sent to the hospital in a second ambulance anyway. Things look very optimistic for driver. Another passenger was unhurt but began panicking and hysterically yelling and couldn't seem to stop, so that became a problem. Ultimately, she traveled along to the hospital in a police car because Medics were too concerned about allowing her near the injured.

Ds had to physically separate her well away from the other firefighters working inside the vehicle, until police arrived to take over - very awkward for him, but that's when having someone who has to wear a starched shirt and badge every day is a blessing. At least he will look like he's supposed to make the awkward decisions, lol, when it will all be on video from more than one angle. Police will use videos to make determinations of speed, when control was lost, etc., Fire Marshall will watch to say goodbye to the new vehicle, insurance agent will shake his head, and town manager will need to ask for aspirin. It was a mess.
