Sara Trevor Teasdale (later Filsinger; August 8, 1884 – January 29, 1933) was an American lyric poet. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and used the name Filsinger after her 1914 marriage. In 1918, she won a Pulitzer Prize for her 1917 poetry collection Love Songs.

In 1933, she died by suicide, overdosing on sleeping pills, and was interred in Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis. Lindsay had died by suicide two years earlier.


The poem "I Shall Not Care", with themes of abandonment, bitterness, and contemplation of death, was speculated to be her suicide note to a former lover because of its depressing undertone. However, the poem was first published in her 1915 collection Rivers to the Sea, 18 years before her suicide.

I shall have peace, as leafy trees are peaceful

The poem "There Will Come Soft Rains" from her 1920 collection Flame and Shadow inspired and is featured in a famous short story of the same name by Ray Bradbury.

Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off. Today's poet is another unhappy soul - I wonder if great despair is the price to pay for great talent?

I never made.it.back yesterday - I had a very good session in.my.garden,.and then DH came home 2.hours.earlier than expected, so I was scrambling to get the kitchen finished.

I'll.CUOP properly later, but, Dogged,. Germane is.in very good.company requiring multiple attendants to achieve her grooming. It always takes 3 people.(two nurses and a vet) to give Freddie.an injection,.and on one occasion when we saw a different vet, she decided to play it safe and added an extra nurse, making four of them!

It's an early start for me today, as I have errands to run before church. Hopefully BBL!

Thank you for starting us off trissie. I liked that poem. It reminded me of Jann Arden's song Insensitive.

Lol Kittykatt, Germane has me dancing attendance on her now. She's sundowning so I keep getting up to pick her up and reassure her. I tried sleeping with my light on to help her navigate, but that didn't do it. Now I am trying my light off and the kitchen light on, so we'll see how that goes.

Thanks for the educational start trissie. I don't read a lot of poetry, so I can always use more variety there...
You are a great kitty mom, Kittykatt, just like Dogged is a wonderful dog mom.
LAnn hope dr's visit is routine.

Yesterday, I did not get back here. Spent all afternoon going from one grocery store to another. (found some items were discontinued) Picked up supplements as well and a couple of things at the dollar store.

Finally, I had a decent night's sleep.

Today:
walk my pup
bake the biscuits
fertilize plants
contact gardener
disconnect dryer hose (b/c it's too hard for the men tomorrow...)
class p.m.

Oh the powers I have... I killed the thread it seems.

Took pup for almost an hour walk/obedience.
She is exhausted.

Cut/ Baked the biscuits

Made egg salad (DD's request)

Had breakfast/meds/ second cup of coffee

Fed ddog breakfast.

Discovered that (cordless) vacuum needs repair. ( delayed till Monday)

prep veggies for broth (after a little break)
