It took me several attempts to get on here. Using my correct login info, the site told me it was incorrect several times. I was worried I'd get locked out -- but then it decided to let me in. :?

Thank you for the reminder of Canada's kindness toward us in the midst of a horrible time, trissie.
kitkat, it is a terrible memory for me too. I heard about it a couple hours after it happened; I was at a Bible study at my church all that morning. Afterward, another leader told me about it, and she wasn't sure if it was a couple of bizarrely horrible accidents - or what. I didn't see it on TV until a couple days later. Happier thoughts - yay for a new dryer!! πŸŽ‰
WTG getting the duvet washed, Kitty. The garden center and farm stop sound like fun errands. Did you get some pansies and meat? Yes, a big part of tidying/ decluttering is having a sensible place to put everything.

Back home again!

KitKat, we still don't have a date for DH's retirement. It was supposed to be this month, but that's not happening. Possibly October or even November? One of the problems is that each extra month he stays, some calculations have to be re-done. And of course, that takes time. In my low moments, I see us stuck in a never ending loop!

Helia, I had a very successful visit to the garden centre and came away with 36 pansies and 12 violas ( all accounted for - 12 pots each with 3 plants each along the fence, and a couple of larger pots on the patio.) The farm shop yielded a nice joint of locally reared Topside for Christmas lunch, and a nice piece of locally reared gammon for Christmas Eve. Both are now in the freezer!

Trissie, I'm hiding all the chocolate in the secret hiding place on top of the wardrobe right at the back. DH will never look there, and so long as I write a note to remind myself!

Kittykatt - thinking of Christmas already?
Although our Dollar store has display next to the Halloween/Thanksgiving one...

trissie - I hope you get 8 hours over the weekend! It's a game changer

helia - I see bits about bursitis - seems like I missed something when I was away?

Had a (much better) 45 min. walk with Dpup. Went to two parks as well, used the benches as obstacles to zig-zag around.
I corrected every pull - and, stopped talking through the walk. It seemed to do the trick. She walked right beside me. :)
Made room for delivery men. I still need to disconnect the hose from the vent downstairs.
(Dh left conveniently for some small errands.)

Just finished my second cup:

- start broth
- deal with hose
- empty hallway

Hello, all. It's a beautiful sunny day here and I'm ready to join in with lots to do.

trissie, thank you for that thoughtful start. It was a seminal moment for North Americans because until that day, we actually believed that it couldn't happen there. I remembered when the first plane hit and I thought that it was an accident, then the second plane hit and I was still trying to hold on to the idea that it wasn't deliberate. When they reported the third downed plane my reluctant mind was dragged to the realization that the U.S. really was under attack. My friends were camping when it happened, portaging with a canoe. When they went into Algonquin Park, the world was normal. They came out to a world where everybody was glued to their TVs watching the same footage and commentary over and over as though it would change into something better and making the same comments to one another. For them, it was like the zombie apocalypse had come. I can't imagine what it was like for people who lost their friends and family that day. It took quite a while for it to start t sink in that other people had lived this way for a long time, and that if it could happen there, it could happen here.

Kittykatt, I propose that the new Away for anything your dh relocates to your In The Way is the back seat of his car. Enjoy the pansies! I do love them, even if they don't want to live with me.

A new dryer and 8 hours of sleep, kitkat? It's going to be a good day. :) And a good walk with ddog! Better and better.

I'm glad that you were able to get on in the end, helia. Your dinner out sounds like something fun to look forward to. I hope that your leg is feeling better.

LOL, those chocolates would meet their demise in my house too, trissie. Kittykatt, it's me that I would have to hide the chocolates from. Of course, when you look at how often I lose things in my apartment, I would probably hide them successfully.

Very true, trissie!

I have been doing battle with my kitchen sink:

Friday
15 X 2:
Put away the rice
Swapped out kitchen cloths
Wiped down rice cooker and put it away
Put away some dry dishes
Put away one drying rack
Made breakfast

15:
Cleaned up after Germane
Washed floor
Offered heart pill to Germane: she’s not awake enough to accept it.
Discarded the pill.

Heart pill for Germane

15 X 2:
Put away dishes
Wiped out the plastic drawer I plan to bring on trip
Brought out the One Second Plumber to clear kitchen drain
It turned out to be almost empty, so barely hissed rather than the satisfying Bam! That I was looking forward to.
Water receded a little
Searched for plunger
Searched bathroom
Searched kitchen
Searched bathroom again: it was sitting on top of the toilet tank. It is the only reddish brown object in a yellow and blue bathroom.
Plunged the sink.
Water receded a little more
Brought out the super dooper Draino type stuff and poured it in. Bottle was almost empty. Nowhere near the amount that you are supposed to put in. Left it to do what it can.
Brought in the flowers from the balcony table and put out the drawer to dry in the sunshine

15:
Watered the plant in the bathroom sink
Misc tidying
Flushed sink: it’s not completely unclogged, but that tiny bit chemicals has got it moving to the point that I can work with it.

Dogged you were right. Definitely a good day. The two guys who did the delivery were real gems. When I told them the front steps got broken during the last delivery (dif. company) they took extra care and just carried the machine in. Very polite, sweet :)
They even fixed the detergent door on my washer (I had my shirt caught in it while squeezing between two machines.

I have tons of laundry to keep me busy for a while... The broth is done.
Will need to do some dinner prep but I'm taking a little break.

DC coat rack/put in place
pa bag collection
take down clothes and mat to wash

Strain broth/put in containers
find Sunday's recipes
make list of missing ingredients.
