I'm waving to all my neighbors today - yes, it has been beautiful weather here, but we also have a beautiful neighborhood in our online village.



I gotta get some things done today! I've been out of the house for most of the past few days and things have suffered badly! I've already had some kugel for breakfast and loaded and started the dishwasher and read part of the paper. I'm going to deal with some laundry now and then hopefully finish the paper. I need to be at temple at ten thirty for a meeting, but should probably be there earlier. Also need to print some materials in prep for meeting. (Whoops, glad I checked the calendar, the meeting is at ten, not ten-thirty!)

After this meeting, I will leave from the temple to take dd back to K-town. I'm glad this is the last trip home for her for awhile as I'm getting tired of the drive.

Thinking of all my neighbors and knowing I'll miss the "most important person." Hoping that Indiana's breathing is improving, and delighting in OKay's rain.

Unseasonably hot here (80s) and sunny. I'm up but really slow moving due to back pain. It is a 40 minute drive to church, I'm going to the Anglican (Episcopalian) church that dd's friend sings at. I'll drive to her place first and she'll either drive, or I will, and I'll leave dh there with dd to help our host (probably by amusing the baby.)

You should see his kitchen, it is covered with food, pots and serving dishes. Each dish has a sticky note with the dish name and the instructions for preparing the dish that will go in it (complete with a note if it is cold, stove, oven or bbq because he wanted to make sure he had enough stove/oven/bbq space for cooking everything he planned.) He used to cook for 200 at a summer camp so he understands the importance of organization.

I have no idea where all 14 of us are going to eat, but I'm sure he has a plan.

A neat feature of their home: it has a 'great room' (living/dining/kitchen) space with an island in the kitchen defining one edge of that space. But the island is moveable (no electrical or plumbing to it) so they can move it into their ample foyer and set up a bar there when they have huge parties. I've never seen that before and love the flexibility. Their neighbour's home went up for sale and I looked at the listing and realized it would do for dh and I just fine (remember, my plan is to move here eventually.) Even with my giant dining room furniture, the great room allows for me to open the table into the living area so I can manage just fine. There's also a parlour on the main floor that would do for dh's office and a huge loft on the third floor that gives additional living space (they have a ping-pong table, bed and couch plus a huge bunny pen in theirs.)

I've brought down laundry and started a lol, and gotten into clothes, although did not brush teeth or wash up.

Words w dh - can't get printer going so need to be at temple earlier than ten to print some info, and need to get dd up and going. We're also having words about another issue - I'm probably more peeved that he didn't discuss it with me before trying to implement.

It's another gorgeous day in our neighborhood too! Been very warm (80's) during the day and quite cool at night.

Haven't made up my mind about going to church yet. Feeling just a bit under par and can't really put my finger on what's not quite right. Just feeling a little punky.

Looks like a lot more than even the beltway around Washington DC at rush hour.

After saying I didn't want to find myself in Kathryn's drive -figured out later I've done that very one (more than once!) but also have done that beltway in 5 o'clock traffic, dark and raining! Also an experience I wouldn't want to repeat. So, guess I 'CAN do it -just donwanna. I even asked AAA to avoid Atlanta on our trip tik.

DH and I both were up at 4:30 for the bathroom. Didn't even realize he was up until I opened the bathroom door. He then proceeded to get back up shortly after 5. He had said that all things he has to do in the next 3 weeks were twirling in his head. Told him to just add them to my list -probably a lot are already on there. But of course I have no idea what he has to do for the campground and I'm sure that's more what he meant.

Going to just veg for a while and see how I feel.

15 minutes until time to launch out of the house.

I cleared and wiped kitchen counters and put kugel for dd in the car. Folded two lols and did some kitchen table clearing. Need to put away the kugel that I saved for me and dh, and then wash face, and brush teeth and I'm out of here.

I'll probably need down time when I get home late this afternoon.

I do think this is supposed to be a pretty day here. Then tomorrow starts to cloud up, and drenching rains follow for days.

OKay, what was your total rainfall? Wondering if Sadie got rain too.

HRH has done the beltway with me clutching the seat a couple times.

Dd13 is dressed and ready for Sunday School, but my ddad is still sleeping this morning, so we'll get her to SS but probably not be able to do much more. Only one of us could have made it anyway, of course.

It sounds like Kathryn has the weather that was here a couple of weeks ago - our hottest day of the year was in late September! Today is expected to be in the low 60s - quite respectable for us in October..so I'd like to get outside and do some work in the yard. Since the sun won't be up for another hour, I guess that will have to wait a bit, though.

Speaking of which...we're still waiting on DGD to make her arrival! DD was due somewhere between Oct 3 - 7 (they couldn't give her an exact date due to the irregular periods after the ectopic pregnancy last fall), but in the time-honoured tradition of babies, DGD is doing things in her own sweet time. DD is dreadfully uncomfortable, her feet swell to the point of going purple (but her b/p is fine), and she's been having Braxton Hicks contractions for weeks - last night they were about 20 minutes apart, but don't seem to ever get much stronger, or closer together

I'm just starting my second cup of coffee, and when that's done, I'm going to get busy around here. Since I've been trying to counsel DD to patience, calm, keeping busy while we wait..I guess I should take my own advice! Yesterday, I spent a good hour in the dungeon...errr...basement getting some stuff organized and put away. I'll be back down there today labelling all the tubs and boxes that are now neatly stacked in the corner. There's still a lot of stuff to go through, but at least some progress has been made.

My first round will look something like this....

- fill sink and start dishes soaking
- downstairs litter boxes
- upstairs litter boxes
- swish & swipe bathroom
- get dressed

My second round will be....

- wash dishes, start next lot soaking
- put/throw away 10 things from computer desk
- put/throw away 10 things from top of crafting cart
- put/throw away 10 things from dining room table
- 15 minutes working on DGD's blanket

Maybe I'll spend a little time splashing in OKay's puddles, too!

I saw a great idea on HGTV last night a new show one of the new jersey house wifes has a new show called Dina's party and one gal said she was going to have a clothing swap party. Loved that idea they did a make over for the TV room for this event. Such a wonderful creative way of de~cluttering!

Interesting day so far.

We got out on time. I drove up to Elora and dropped dd's friend and another choir member at the church and then spent my extra 45 minutes walking. I started on main street and then saw the sign for the gorge and remembered there is a gorgeous gorge here and with the fall colors it was even more lovely. I walked the edge of the gorge and stood out on a bridge over it for a while. An excellent way to prepare one's mind for worship!

The church service wasn't high Anglican but it was very 'high' compared to anything my church has to offer. No incense but the parts of the service were identified in Latin and the prayer book is 80 years old, the hymn book over 50 years old. The theology was just not mine (I don't believe in a puppet master God) and so I enjoyed the service only from a 'museum' point of view ("ahhhh, this is what things were like in the olden days"). The music was also 'old' but enjoyable. They have a professional choir (of 28, that's more souls than attend our services most Sunday) and organist and there were lots of sung components of the service. I loved the descant on the final hymn. But even the music was very old (they were doing a couple of psalm arrangements from the 20th century but even those sounded classical) and the words, of course, were of their theology, rather than mine.

I was fascinated that they didn't read the gospel reading, just Hebrew Scripture and an Epistle. Not sure why that was.

The drive in both directions was fun. On the way there we were pulled over for an impaired driver check (not likely with our car; three women, one pregnant, on their way to Sunday service!) On the way back, the Mennonite church had let out so there were buggies along the road the whole way.

I picked up dh, we had Subway for lunch and now a few minutes of quiet before heading back for Thanksgiving dinner. The house is deadly hot - over 85, so dd finally asked if she could put on the a/c. The host was too busy cooking to notice.

I dumped THREE INCHES of rain out of the gauge when we arrived home from church. SWEET! It has been raining gently for 24 hours now. I noticed parts of the bottom of the pond has some water in it now.

Church was very good this morning and LO was well behaved (except for running from puddle to puddle and jumping up/down in each puddle to make the water splash.) His jeans were soaking wet to the top of his boots, but he sure did have some fun!

I received the finished quilts made from my grandfather, father and DH overalls. I am very pleased with them. I stopped by and gave DDaddy's his lap quilt and he absolutely LOVED it! I'm glad to have this project done - it has been on my mind forever.
