Wednesday Warmup

Up and watching the world go bye my window. Yesterday, our neighbors down the street got their new house - came in 2 sections. The first was put into place while we were gone but we watched the second half come in. It is 54 feet long so it was exciting to watch him back it in so precisely. Today they start putting it together.

I have to go jump in the shower and get ready for the day as another neighbor is coming to get some of the agave pups for the desert behind her. She will be our first visitor. That's what I like about this place - no one bothers you - but they are very welcoming. We will be going to another friend's house for happy hour this afternoon at 4.

Hoping to hear that Indiana is taking happy trails toward home.

I heard my ddad up early this morning so needed to make it an early morning myself. I took time to write down some social "on my minds". In addition to the usual early kitchen duty, I removed and deep cleaned a lidded fridge door compartment and scrubbed a baking pan that has taken more wear and tear than is sightly!

Called the local chain bookseller about a couple interests and they don't have anything current, so I may make a phone order today. Noticed that one doesn't even come out until mid Dec, so no wonder they couldn't find that one. In tiny little type it said pre-order.

Christmas shopping - I dunno. I'm not excited. Maybe if I get cards ready soon a spark will hit me.

-send a temple email about parking apology and parking procedure
-put away a large basket of laundry

MT, the place you picked to live sounds like a nice place. Twins, beginning to sound like you are getting serious with the house you picked.

I've been cleaning up OMM paperwork chores. Statement changed per DH figures. Got out my property tax bills and estimates I've been ignoring for a while. This is the month we must pay if we're to get the biggest discount. So I went through all that and wrote out checks. I'll take them all down sometime this week. I could mail it in, but I like to get that paid/initialed stamp...not that I don't trust everybody to do their job, but...

On a good note, this time I had the funds for older house because of steady rent coming in. Renting that house has given us a wee little bit of breathing room.

Ohmigosh, Kathryn!

White Point just made Yahoo's photo/article stream on it's homepage (large photos). "Resort Blaze Doesn't Stop Wedding Day" As I just glanced there, it was within the 2nd set of photos to stream. The couple is in the photo, with fire burning in the background. According to the byline, ABC news picked this particular story up last evening. The piece praises the staff, and also the firefighters for keeping the blaze contained to main building.

Harmony, I just don't know. We like the house; I'm trying to stay back a bit and let dh lead. He had already called the agent for the builder this morning and he's still working on the "numbers." Dh also set up an appointment with our friend/agent who would represent us for us to look at the house with him tomorrow afternoon. I can't tell you how many houses we looked at in the first ten years of our marriage that we loved, but we stalled out on. I tend to get emotionally involved and then feel hurt when we don't/can't follow through. So I'm trying to stay calm. What happens, happens.

Finished that round up. We have a severe thunderstorm warning and tornado watch, so this isn't a good day for going out and about. I'm watching storms approach and so far Macs hasn't heard or felt them.

MT, do you have that big huge variety of agave? I just googled it and my goodness that one gets huge! Internet provides lots of interesting facts: one can make a sweetener out of the core, mexicans make tequila out of it, and indians made a poison of the leaves for their arrows!

Last night DD9 wanted a Girls' Night In (after Chinese, of course). At first she wanted to a trip to the bookstore until she learned that I wouldn't buy anything. I like the library better! So, instead, we came home and watched Hogan's Heroes. The cats are still locked in the bedroom. Thanksgiving is figured out, XDH is cooking turkey and we are going over there. Christmas is not yet figured out. I hate being divorced.

Today at payroll, I am incorporating customer comments into a document, then covering a meeting at 1:00 until office mate returns. Dinner is planned at a friend's house. More Chinese, but different from last night. (Chinese people eat Chinese food every night, so could I!)

Harmony: Yes, we have about 20 of the huge blue agave and a couple huge variegated ones. (Lots and lots more of small ones called pups.) They all have very sharp points on the ends and along the sides. If I don't watch when I bend over, I get stuck in the legs and you know what. The points sometimes break off and then they really hurt. Because I take aspirin, each poke makes it bleed under the skin so I have a lot of bruise looking spots all over including one on my chin. The pokes also burn so I can see the poison part.

I have learned from my gardening friends to clip the points off the swords before we attempt to trim them. Also long sleeves and leather gloves are the uniform of the day.

DH and I just cleaned up the garage a bit. I collapsed a lot of boxes that are now on their way to the recycle bin. We also sorted the remaining full boxes as to type and have crafts in one place, books in another, etc. He is now putting up some more shelves that we brought from the sheds yesterday.

I have some dishes I found to wash.

Question: Why would someone put one layer of mugs (which belong in the kitchen) on a shelf that is 18 inches high?? I was able to stack 2 craft bins in that area. Sometimes men cannot see logically.

Rest time is over - back to the grindstone.

Here I am needing to vent again!

Last night I fixed supper for everyone at dd2 house. That part was great. When we got ready to leave dg2 wouldn't tell dm goodbye. We were just down the street and dd2 called, dgd2 wanted to hug and kiss dm goodbye. I told her I needed to get home and take my shot and we weren't coming back. She said that after she took dgd15 to school they would come by. OK, dm and I were cleaned up and ready for the day. Dd2 comes in bringing the 2 little girls and oatmeal from M cDonalds for her and dg2 breakfast. Dd2 has next to no control over any of her kids. I spend the majority of my time with them at their house, because they just wreck havoc on my home. Dgd2 wouldn't leave anything alone. She kept turning the TV off and on. Later she got ahold of the remote and held down on the power button. Well guess what, that TV is toast. I just lost it. Dd2 just couldn't believe that her little darling ruined my TV, but she would buy me a new one. I told her it is not just the TV, that dgd2 tears up everything she touches and won't listen to anyone. Believe me, I had a lot more to say on the subject but with dm here and leaving, I let it go. She loaded up the kids and left. She needed to be home in less than an hour for a guy to come and measure the 2 sets of sliding doors that the previous owners have to replace. I haven't heard from her since and I won't be calling her first. I did not, I repeat I DID NOT let my kids act like that and it didn't hurt them to behave. She gets so upset with dgd2 that she threatens to go back to work, but yet acts like I am so unreasonable that I don't want my TV broken. The TV is 8 years old and it worked fine until she started abusing it.

Right now there is a 50/50 chance that I am not moving in that house. I guess I haven't been back to report that there is mold. She had a professional out and he told her what needed to be done to fix it and gave her a name and number of a guy to fix it. Problem is he hasn't called her back. That alone gives us an out but we will still be out some money. My biggest problem is that by us moving there it will make it so convenient for her to come over before and after school with 2-4 kids. Which would be great but I don't want my house mistreated like hers is on a daily basis.

I just feel like my life has been reduced to a movie and instead of the title being G roundhog Day, it's M oving Day.

I have to eat lunch but my insides are in constant turmoil.
