Well, I have made all the easy modifications. Next up, the harder ones. Fortunately, there are fewer of these. Then, the meeting.

((Lilac)) How I hope for you it is just the remote that has been damaged or run out of battery power, which would be an easy fix. But it does sound like it's worse than that. :( In my limited tv-sickness experience, I'd say let it rest for 24 hrs and see???? Toddlers can be a-ma-zing. Our family had been having new babies every two years and now the last two have been born just a year apart, so we can get pretty wild-eyed around here with little fingers on technology, and there's no end in sight. I was standing right there and dd31 sitting beside, when WonderBoy, at about 18-24 months, took an ink pen and marked right over his mother's own childhood furniture. "It all happened so fast", to quote Barney Fife.

I will also tell you that WonderBoy and I have had a WORD together on the back porch steps, and this was after he was carried there by his loving grandmother, upside-down.

I've mentioned here that we watch SuperNanny (well, without HRH!) because dd13 just idolizes Jo, the star, but during most any episode I find myself agreeing with the mother that sitting in time out won't be the huge answer Jo believes it will be. Of course, by the end of the show Jo's methods are proved out. A recent episode (couldn't tell you - I watch with one eye) showed the little boy crying to get to sit in the time out space rather than have to do his chores. The mother was quite insistent that that made sense to her, too! LOL I totally got that! And there's a reason none of those shows are done in homes with only children.

Bill Cosby said, "The second child is not adding one more, it is children to the second power."

Hello Ladies.

Skippable:
It was a bad start to today. As I got into the office, the power was out. It only came back on around 10am'ish, note that I get into the office at before 7am each morning. So to scramble and get everything done in the 2 remaining hours until the cut-off for the stock take that began today, was nearly impossible, but was done, yay.

DH's company has changed their flexi-hour rule yet again. So DH will insist on taking his lunch time and tea time breaks all at once to go and get DD13 from school grounds where she waits after school. He then will go back to his office and DD13 will wait around 1/2 hour in the car with the windows open - car is in a safe parking area - while DH checks back in the office so as to leave at 16H30pm daily - this all because a couple of his colleagues have been taking advantage of the current flexi-time as they are computer technicians and sales reps all rolled into one.

I feel your frustration and so understand! Training a 2 year old is hard work and consistence is a must. However, no matter how hard we work at it, there are times that slip through and things happen. I'm sorry your TV was messed up.

We stayed home from library time this morning while waiting to see how LO stomach is doing. He has kept small cup of milk, few goldfish crackers and small cup of jello down so I'm starting to feel hopeful. DGS14 called this morning and was VERY disappointed at the possibility of postponing tonight's activities, So I'm going to proceed and hope LO stomach continues to cooperate.

(Lilac) sure do understand. There is no reason you can't set limits and rules in your own house. Kids have the amazing ability to know which places and with which people they can cause havoc and which places and people they're not allowed. "In grandma's house you don't act like this". "Maybe you're allowed in your house, but here...". Course, it's always easier when things are more consistent.

A couple weeks ago, DH figured out how to get our speaker system working again. This is after having no radio, CD or tape ability for about 6 months after some little fingers fiddled with all the buttons on a 5-channel system. I'd tried and gave up. Things are getting easier as they grow up.

Lilac, I would be prepared to tell your grandkids (when/if you move there) "this is Grandmas house NOW and we don't do this...."

Ever wonder why I spend so much time outside with my DGSs in the drive, watching the skateboarding, biking, etc.? Saves the house!

MT, people plant those big cactus plants around here but quite often they cut the styrofoam cups out of egg cartons and stick them on the spikes like little flowers. I guess they keep one from bumping into them.

I should post this, since our family's experience might help someone. In general, all children who have trouble "minding" should have their hearing double checked, just in case. It is rare, but our experience with DangerBoy (now 5 years old) was that his partial hearing loss had gone undiagnosed. After he got his "robot ears" as he calls them, we noticed an instant behavior and attention change for him. It must be tough to be a bright little kid and not understand why everyone is irritated with you, when they didn't tell you any better, or why they think you are loud, when you're not. :)

dd has hobbled in and says to tell everybody she hopes they are okay. She goes back to school tomorrow. They will have to make some arrangement for her bookbag. She can't possibly carry it and be on the crutches - the crowded hallways would be murder. Dr says crutches until T-Day vacation, but I know she'll want to dump them by Monday.

Lisa, good job on the work in double-time. Let's see, it's getting warmer there - will dd have to have the car windows open? If it were our dd, I'd say watch out for running the battery down listening to radio! Also she would be nagging for shade, I'm sure. Glad to hear it is a safe place.

Thank you each for your understanding and caring words. Consistent is the key word and dd2 obviously doesn't know the word. Over the last 15+ years and 5 kids I have seen her at various times discipline them and then when they pull this boohoo act, she caves. I think she is worse with dgd2 than even the others. She calls dgd2 the destroyer all the time lately, because that is what she has been doing. I can't even unplug the tv because it is plugged in behind the hutch and the table it sits on doesn't have wheels. I have turned it sideways as far as I can and I can't find a reset button if there is one. When dh gets home we can move it and see. I went and looked at TVs and on the way home I noticed that she is at the house, either cleaning or loading more stragglers. I shudder to think that my expensive vaccum cleaner is over there but I just need to put space between us. For over 9 days I have spent the majority of the day with them. Dh told me that she will get over it, afterall she needs my help. Unfortunately, everyone she or I know that could watch the kids, works. Dm came to watch them and since dgd2 doesn't mind, she couldn't handle them.

I told dh how I was feeling about the house and he said whatever you want to do. Monday night she received a call from the home ec teacher who altered her wedding dress. She wants to buy the house, sight unseen because of the location due to the school district planning to discontinue transfers except in extreme conditions. Dd2 said to me I have a backup if you want out. Of course, her dh wants $30,000 more from someone else. I am anxious to see what it appraises for. Dh doesn't think it will appraise for what we offered them. If it doesn't they have to lower the price or we can withdraw. Once the mold issue came up, I have been nervous.

Yesterday afternoon the appraiser came. Yesterday am, I was in the masterbedroom vaccuming the closet doors, which are bi-fold, louvered. Dm walked in and ran her finger over one of the louvers and held it up, so I could see the dust. She didn't say a thing and walked out. That just hit me the wrong way considering the state of her house. She is so critical of dd2 but dd1 can do no wrong.

Dm talks all the time about what she is going to do to her house, new tile, remodel bathroom, new appliances, curtains, etc. She can't do a thing until someone can walk in the door. I get so frustrated when I think of that mess. Someone mentioned her moving out here and she came back with she was going to be like her dad and live in her own home until she dies. Well I hope and pray she can because there is no way I could live with her unless absolutely necessary. I keep telling dh to take care of himself because if he died, when she came for the funeral, she would never leave. She just hovers over me and questions my every move. I feel so fortunate to still have her but she can sure test my limits. Between her and dd2, I have reached my limits.

End of rant! I hope!

I think I'm beyond frustrated with Med Co. The supervisor I've been talking to called me this noon (we were at lunch at O G) and said the pharmacy had put in ANOTHER request to my dr's office for prescriptions. WHAT? They got all 3 verbally on Monday from there. It's listed on the website as "in progress". If the Dr's office sends another request I'm sure that this will be at least the 5th request. Grrrrrrrrrr   Think dh may be ready to use the telephone cord -if we had a cord.

Had a good lunch and I was very conscious of each time dsisil 'touched' dgd. She hates being touched and we're trying to respect that. If it's not to be she'll have to say something to dsil because I know I won't and I don't expect dd to have to. She couldn't go to school today but starts tomorrow, then they have all next week off for Thanksgiving. DBIL thinks that's horrendous and that teachers (sorry gals -those of you who teach and understand) get way too much pay as it is. I only muttered that I wasn't going there. I know dd puts in somewhere around 60 hours a week or so and gets paid for less than 40. We see this side all too often. There are sometimes weeks that dd doesn't get home before 6pm on any day and she leaves about 6:30am. Oh well.

Picked up dgd's meds at the pharmacy but one was denied by her insurance. Called dd so she can research that.

Need to go get ready to go to church -having Thanksgiving dinner there tonight.

Rant away Lilac.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!
