BookSaver, I just mentioned those very lids in H & F and gave a link to them at an online store with lots of different canning supplies.

Also, I was amazed and shocked that at the hospital when my dmom was there so long (surgery) the ONLY containers the hospital gave to microwave in in the snack room were styrofoam. (People were preparing dry soups, etc. - HRH would have had a fit.) I mentioned this to everyone from dietary folks to doctors and no one seemed to think it was important!!!! Rule: unless it has a label that says it can be microwaved, chemicals CAN migrate from it.

And another thing --- I just bought all 4 seasons of The Big Bang Theory while I saw them on the shelf. My first thought was maybe to give to HRH, but with all our grown children loving the series (ddil mentioned it last night), they may become gifts. You will LOVE the first season.

O my gosh I'm at DD2's house. Learning how aggravating ths key pad is to type on! Also my chair is too low..anhyway, hi everyone hope all had a wonderful thanksgiving. we did, quieter than usual but nice.

trip up was pretty scary with both interstates jammed with traffic and a couple big scary accidents along the way. We had no troubles except for when DH got hungry and just had to have chips...not a good nite for shopping in grocery!

Sonil's step dad brought his smoker and they smoked the turkey out on back porch, it was interesting not too strong asmoke flavor but very juicy and we made all the sides, dsil's mom made homegrown corn from up home, all very good and my pies were enjoyed. DGKs (2 boys) were with their dad but he brought them up for a hour so we could visit, then brought the oldest one back with thanksgiving card/letter he'd made us but forgot, so all that was a special treat and very much appreciated. fortunately the 2 families live just a mile or so apart.

we are at dd2's place preparing to work. we've already removed a counter support and glued a topping on the table she's making and have measured a few other things and made plans. She and DH are at hd or low es looking a doors and tile trim. poor girl went out to work this morning at 3 am and hasn't slept all night yet. I hope we're able to get a bunch done for her, would surely like to see all this get straightened out and I could quit worrying for a change!

Me, not getting in that crowd shopping, hope it's not bad where dd & dh are right now. Have a nice weekend!

I've lost hold of the day entirely and am now trying to grab hold of it before it completely slips away.

Looking for a tv online hasn't been too productive. There appears to be 5 models that do what we want and one is on sale today for $208 but is completely unreliable according to reviews. After that, the price jumps to $299 for two companies I've never heard of and those have just 'ok' specs. At $399 there is one model with great specs and reviews but poor viewing angles eliminates it because this is the living room so people will be sitting at all angles. The last is $549 and has almost as good specs as the $399 plus good reviews. But that's over 2x as much as the cheapest and so gives me pause. I'll check on Sunday night and see if it falls under any Cyber Monday sales.

I just called the currency transaction guy and he won't be here until 3:30 at the earliest. That puts me in with rush hour traffic when I head to the bank. Sigh.... And I have to go to the bank when he comes, I have no choice since it is a Friday.

That leaves me no time to run errands. Being rural, I could go out now and leave dh to handle the cheque but I'd have to go out again when the cheque arrives and that's another 10 miles of unnecessary driving.

We have choir at 6:30 and have to eat at 5 in order to be able to sing properly. So I have to be home at 4:30 at the latest to make a quick supper and that's not likely to happen if I can't leave here until 3:30 at the earliest.

Just now finished CUOPing here finally. Dh got us up at seven this morning and we left around 7:30 for trip home, arriving here at 10:30 or so. I was driving, and went straight away back to bed when we got here - dkids also and they are still asleep. DH had a lunch meeting today and I'll meet him at temple tonight for services as I'm sitting on the pulpit.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving - these friends are the best, and they had a bunch of friends over for a very festive meal with a ton of good food. They had a turkey from the oven and another deep fried. We ate very late in the afternoon and I helped with clean up until about 8:30 and collapsed. They have the most gorgeous, well behaved Great Danes. He does woodworking - those on Facebook should check out his Facebook page which I linked to. I spent some of yesterday morning in this shop with him (and ds) checking out all of his toys. I have a secret desire to work with wood and build things someday - a kickback to my father's genes for sure. The smell of fresh sawdust in his shop really brings back childhood memories.

Today is slipping away. We invited the rabbi and wife over for dinner tomorrow night - dd has suggested lasagne - very time intensive - but I may go with it. On Sunday I need to take her back to school, and dh will take ds. And I'll need to get groceries to make dinner tomorrow night.

Did up the dishes, processed yesterday's mail and made up a grocery list. I have a plan for the banking/shopping run. Don't know if it will work but it is a plan and I'm ready to fly out the door when the cheque gets here.

One of the items in my mail yesterday was all my marked assignments from my course weekend last May so I read through all of the comments. They were good and made me feel good about myself but it takes all my energy to force myself to read those reviews.

I don't do Black Friday shopping but I did go to the music/book/gift/dvd type store. They had a coupon for buy 2 calendars get 2 free from 8-noon. I always buy my Thomas Kinkade calendars when they have this sale. They were on sale for 30% off to begin with, so I bought 4 calendars with retail price of combined 62.00 for 25.00 including tax.

After that I picked up dd2 a cappacino and took them their Hall mark ornaments. They had put up 2 trees last night, so they could get them decorated before the boys go to their dads for the week, later today.

We went to the bank. The house appraisal came in at $5000.00 above the price we are paying. Dh just knew it would be lower, in fact the price he kept throwing around to me was $30,000.00 lower. I knew he was off base but I just kept my mouth shut. So it looks like we will be closing Dec.1. Dd2 and her dh plan to finish getting everything out this weekend and she still has cleaning she wants to do.

Well I am sure that I need to be doing something constructive, so best get started.

Thanksgiving Holiday is over for us. DSon and family just headed out of our driveway to visit the last of the 5 Grandparents then they will be headed home. The 21 hours (or so) they were in our home were extremely enjoyable and I treasure every moment of it.

Not sure whether to try and put LO for a late nap or try to make it through the rest of the day without a nap. Hum.....

Going to take a look at the cards and see what is up next. Our home is 99% cleaned up but no laundry has been done today....no paperwork.....

Oh, Harmony, ds26 just mentioned to me last night if there was any store he might want to go to today it would be Low es - he said their flyer was amazing with door-busters and deals and that last year he went and the crowds were huge... ... . Hope Mr. Harmony could weave his way through.

I am irritated with my family right now. My plan was to have the leftover ham on a nice platter tonight and now dd and HRH have eaten so much of it for snacking there won't be enough. HRH says make the turkey breast for tonight, so I have to slap his hand away from that - it (and its trimmings) are for the whole crowd tomorrow, including dstepson and dstepdil, which will be a total of 11 I'm supposed to feed then. I can't believe I'm back to sandwiches or take out already and houseguests haven't even arrived yet!

I've washed, dried and put away the tablecloth. The first ( ) load of dishes for the day is washing now. Also I have a load of towels in the wash now. Some declutter through the kitchen. I myself have eaten more than I should.

We have the opposite problem - waaay too much food on hand.

DH just told me that he doesn't ever want to eat like that again. THIS IS HUGE for him to say that. He has been talking about and looking forward to eating on Thanksgiving for weeks....for months. Now that he did it, he doesn't ever want to do it again! Hip HIP HURRAH!! I think this is a turning point in our eating plan. It is one thing to eat healthy to lose weight - it is entirely another thing to eat healthy because you like how it makes you feel and just because you want to eat that way.

I'm thinking about cleaning out the refrigerator and dumping all the high-carb food into the pasture and letting the critters have at it.

Hi Okay - I hear ya about Thanksgiving temptations for our DH's. My DH was very good about his eating yesterday, keeping his commitment to healthy eating. He has lost 35 lbs. and is working with a personal fitness trainer 2x a week. He has worked hard to get to his goal weight and was not willing to blow it yesterday on Thanksgiving treats. He would agree with you about it being a life affirmative choice, not just about calories. We discussed getting rid of his 2-sizes-too-big pants, so there is no other choices in his closet than the pants that fit him now. Another affirmative statement visually about the change he has made to a healthier future.

Rainy and cold here today, so I'm staying indoors. I don't do the Black Friday sales - large crazy crowds not my thing. But for folks who love shopping - go for it! There are some great deals out there for the courageous.

Time for a little lunch. Since we went to a potluck yesterday, no leftovers at this house. Think I'll make a sandwich and read the paper.
