(((Sadie)))
Does anyone remember the wringer washing machines? I remember my grandmothers and mother using them as I was growing up. I actually miss them because the laundry seemed to get cleaner and was definitely faster than our current style washing machine. Sometimes progress just doesn't see very progressive.
I've enjoyed reading about others memories.

Re: Share a memory Sunday
I've enjoyed reading memories here today.
Norma, what fun.
Right, Kathryn, a lot of effort put into our happiness back when we perhaps didn't even realize what it took.
Wringer washers - my paternal grandmother had hers on the back porch, and since almost everyone was "not company" and went through the back porch into the house, I don't see how she managed the traffic and work together.
Dd33 called and they are home safe without problems. Dd13 and I went out and got pharmacy things. Otherwise, I am not sure I've been fully conscious this afternoon! Just wiped out from such a busy weekend.
I need to perk up and have a 5-by-10.
Nag dd about her bookbag, any school papers
See about laundry
Do yet another load of dishes
Do a Desk Day check for next week
Mop the kitchen floor

Re: Share a memory Sunday
This afternoon, while driving 75mph on the interstate (4 lane with concrete divider) I saw a little while sport car start flipping end over end 4 times. I immediately pulled over and called 911. Other vehicles pulled over and ran to the upside-down car. Everything happened so fast that it seems unreal. My mind keeps thinking about it and the memory plays that scene of the car flipping over and in my mind.
5 x 10 sounds good to me too -
** LOL hung up
** Read LO a book...or two...or three
** Prepare something for LO evening meal
I'll think of the other 2 in a bit

Re: Share a memory Sunday
I've raked leaves in the front & back yard again today did not do a walk but did the total gym work out and ex. bike. Weather has been great.
For my memory read on
We have 200 lbs. of pumpkin / squash dson's boss bright 'em by yesterday, all kinds!
I was thinking of some of the kinds of squash we grew as kids and how we canned it for pies, cookies, and bread, I was surprised at how many kinds of squash I could identify! I had fun drawing them in my sketch book thinking of those days. We will keep some for us but I can't eat as much of the baked goods so it will be good to share! One of the squash we grew a banana squash called that because of the shape we had to use an ax to cut it because the skin was so tough we could not cut it with a knife.

Re: Share a memory Sunday
Hello, villagers ~
5-by-10 is a great idea -- I'll focus on easy ones tonight because I want to do a series of intensive 45s in the morning.
1) wash some dishes
2) heat soup for supper
3) sort the week's mail and toss catalogs into recycle bin
4) write checks to go to post office tomorrow
5) toss a load of towels in the washer

I remember when my dgmothers used wringer washers, too!
Back to business... we will sleep much better if sheets are back on the bed.

Re: Share a memory Sunday
Hello everybody, it is so good to be back home.
We got back about 6:30 and I've surely done my 5-by-10.
Unpacked car
unpacked suitcases, etc.
made DH crew's lunch for tomorrow
Did LOL. Will hang 1st thing tomorrow AM.
Brought in mail, sorted, wrote checks, updated accounts.
Took laundry and recycling out for pickup.
There, that's 6. I have to stop, I have no more energy.
At DD2's we started in right where we left things when we left last time, except for a couple small sections of tile that got set while we were gone.
Grouted kitchen backsplash tile.
Set backsplash tile in 2 bathrooms.
Helped put together new table
Adjusted and took out one counter support leg
Washed down guest bathroom walls, fixed drywall all over where there was glue and gouges from taking down the wallpaper; much prep for paint done
I painted whole bathroom while DD went to work this morning. Installed TP holder
2 trips to grocery, couple trips to HDepot and other places for supplies
Adjusted electric boxes / plugs so covers would fit flush
Bushed! I'm sore all over. I'm hoping they're able to make some progress. DSiL is at his wits end with it all.
Now I must CUOP.

Re: Share a memory Sunday
Concert is over. It was a success, musically, enjoyment and financially-wise. There was a free-will offering for a local teen mental health awareness group and we raised $640 (which was more than the Asian Supper raised.)
We had well over 100 people because we printed 100 programs and ran out.
I blew the first two pages of the quartet piece (ended up singing along with the lead instead of harmony) but pulled it together for the rest of the song. My nose was running because the 'piece' before that was a dramatic reading about grief at Christmas and I had been crying and didn't have a tissue. I never looked up the whole time I was singing because I was afraid my nose would drip onto my music!
The last two pieces went really well because I'd blown my nose by then!
About 95% of the stuff is put away.
Dh picked up the new girl and brought her over to the church and we drove her home. In the car with dh she told him that she has severe anxiety in crowds which is why she isn't in school. She managed fine tonight because she arrived when the church was empty and it filled up around her. She was really great, helping in the kitchen and helping me however I asked. At the beginning I was being pulled 5 directions at once so having someone to delegate the little tasks to (like turning on each of the candles) was a big help. We hope she'll come back to church and not be scared off.
Speaking of anxiety, my music friend completely fell apart while playing her piece but I left it for others to deal with her. Her performance anxiety has been overcome so she can do a regular church service but anything out of the ordinary still sets her off. Of course, had she rehearsed a half dozen times or more, perhaps she would have been able to see the piece as 'ordinary' and not freeze when she lost her place, just like I was able to recover when I started off wrong on my piece. She practices at home by herself but that's not the same. I could nail my piece at home with dh and my recording of the accompaniment, but add in the other two voices and I lost my first note. Our church musician literally slid her off the bench and took over but then ended up having to restart because the singers were lost at that point and she knew they could do better.
After all that singing, I'm not hungry but I did have tea so am wired. Dh has to be up and at it by 8 tomorrow when there's a rehearsal for tomorrow night's program at a senior's apartment building. So he's in bed and I guess I'll go too. I can either read or just snuggle up against him until I fall asleep.

Re: Share a memory Sunday
CI = finished the 5 well before 10, and have been reading various threads in Health & Fitness.
Bonus round = towels are in the dryer and a 2nd batch of dishes soaking in the sink. When the dryer buzzes, I'll fold the towels and finish washing the dishes before going up to bed.
In the meantime, I'm going to try to plan this week. I need to fit in some sewing time and Christmas shopping in and around the chores.
We're beginning the time of year when many things are affected by weather/road conditions so I need to get in the habit of checking 5-day weather forecasts.
