Happy Birthday to our dear Indiana!!!

Another warm but cloudy day here.

Last night at work someone returned almost three hundred dollars of merchandise from K-mart to WM. The service desk associate didn't see the K-mart stickers and gave the customer the money. Management was not happy! The associate had gone home before the merchandise was found so I don't know what is waiting for her today.

Got my dailies done. Weekly chore is ceiling fans and clean one cupboard.

Hope Indiana is having a good day today on her birthday.

I remember having "tea parties" with my dolls. I would set my little cups outside my window on rainy days and collect rain water. Don't think Dmom knew what I was up to.

Harmony, that is helpful. Ds said the exact same thing as your dh - that I needed to change the resolution on my camera, so that is confirmation that that may be the correct thing to do for future potential avatar photos. I wonder what I should set it at?

Not motivated. Haven't been motivated all week. I have IGAWeek syndrome. Kathryn's admission of IGAMonth syndrome yesterday made me giggle. I am off now, finally, to do my errands, though.

Oh, my, thank you helia. I had neglected to title my 5x5 so I went back and edited!!! Just a little innocent index card - nothing intimidating!

Pumpkin fries sound great, Nancy! Children love squash and pumpkin type seeds - they are so smooth.

Sadie, when I used to work for Belk, there was still some of the old attitude left of taking back things that hadn't even been bought at Belk in order to keep happy customers. I never saw it done myself but heard of it, and supposedly we sold some things from sale racks that were actually from Ivey's! But in this day and time, with computerized inventory... ...it would be hard to figure out how to do returns on things that had never been "in your register"! It would almost need to be reported as loss... ... Hey, just suggest that the manager return them at the competition. At least not a total loss!

I spent a couple hours on making a ~~perfect-if-I-do-say-so-myself~~ tray of 24 deviled eggs that are now sealed up prettily and in the fridge. It just so happened I timed it with a tv ballgame for my ddad, so interruptions were few and in fact I don't think he even knew I made them. Called dfirstsil and dfirstmil to tell them I was bringing the tray, and now happen to know they won't be duplicated.

Ddad asked me to switch his shirts washing for one of long johns, so those are drying now. I already have his nicest shirt that I intend for him to wear when company is here all ready for him, so this suits my purposes. With the others in the wash, he won't be able to "save it for good"!

Ddad is napping now, so can't vacuum.... perhaps I can sneak around and decorate.

Happy Birthday to Indiana! Enjoy the day - you are special!

All that talk about china yesterday made me look up my Corelle pattern I use for everyday dishes. It is called Summer Blush - it is pansies on white. It is now discontinued, dated from 1995 - 2005. I must have gotten it when the pattern was new because I've had them at least 15 yrs. Never broken any piece - Corelle does not wear out. I have all kinds of accessories too - place mats, napkin holder, hot pot for beverages, etc.
I bought a white set of Corelle for "good dishes" - a set of 12. I can add any color of charger or table cloth to style it, so I like white plates for that flexibility.
My Mom gave me a set of china a few years ago that she had, not sure how old, but I have never used it. It seemed important to her that I had it. Not my color or style, but out of respect I will keep it until she passes, then I may sell it to buy something I would use for formal wear.
My MIL, being from Ireland, collected Waterford glasses, sets of decanters, etc. Before she died, she gave all of her glassware to us. My DH bought a display cabinet and has it in the living room/dining room. It is meaningful to him, memories of his childhood, but we've never used it because he is afraid of breaking them. I agree with Kathryn - use it or lose it, but it's not mine to decide. He's not sentimental about much, so I'm glad he has something of his Mom's.

So happy to get here today if for no other reason than to wish DIndiana a very Happy & Healthy birthday!

WAsn't able to get on while we were in Bradenton, FL. Mainly because I didn't want to ask our host for his security code, though I'm sure he would have given it to me willingly. Had a nice couple of days there EXCEPT dh got sick -with a cold of some sort. He sounds pretty horrible -came home to recline in the chair.

I came home to a 'financial mess' from our credit union. Somehow our electric company up home had done 2 electronic withdrawals from my checking account for payment of $302.70 each -both bringing a $29 insufficiet funds fee. WE haven't paid them ANYTHING in over 2 years -since we sold our house. When I talked to them they finally discerend that DS-A must have given them my number instead of his and they were only 1 digist off in the next to last number. So called him to have him call the electric company BUT that account of his would be his savings account and not have been the correct account anyway. His checking account is a long way off and they've been taking it electronically for some time. CU is refunding my charges (we only use that account for 1 credit card payment so there's rarely more than we need in there). Strange indeed, DS is really befuddled as to how they did this. As it was I had to change my Amex card right after we got here because someone had somehow gotten my number and American Express notified me right away. Not my charges! One was a yahoo account and the other was Apple -have neither. So hopefully all that is settled.

Twins, are you aware that you called me about 5:54pm on Monday? Kept saying hello and could hear voices in the background. No Twins!

Have to pick up dgd at shcool shortly and take her to the psychiatrist -dd has to take her in for prescriptions because the dr who does them won't be available over break. They're on a 2-week break after tomorrow.

Trying extremely hard NOT to catch dh's cold -he never sounds like this. But when I catch something like this, it's normally about 5 weeks. Don't need it -right?

Had my 'skype' meeting with church council Monday night. Went very well except I can't seem to get my webcam to work right. But sure seemed nice to see everyone up north. AND they were having refreshments!! Not that I need them.

DH and I did stop for a small ice cream on the way home -my first in probably 3 months. My BS has been doing SO well! Yesterday was a bit low (67) and today after dinner out it was 76 -but I only took 1 pill last night too. I can see it's probably going to be a fine balance.

Will try to cuop over the next day or so. Need to get busy and finish my last Christmas cards and get things ready to go north.

Taking a moment to breathe....

I had a rough sleep because the church meeting bugged me so much. I ended up taking the minutes and didn't pull out my computer to do so, thus was worried about forgetting what my notes meant. That disrupted my sleep on top of everything else.

I typed up the minutes while on the treadmill, walking slightly slower than usual but longer so ended up at almost 2.5 miles. Then sent the minutes from that computer to mine. They are sitting in my in-box awaiting me forwarding them to others.

Had a quick breakfast, got my hair dry and then we headed off for the hospital with me having my tea and chocolate in the car. Dh was going in for a minor scar tissue clean up but needed to be under for it so I had to drive. He was to be dropped off at 9, procedure would be at 11 and take 15 minutes and then an hour for him to come out of the anesthetic. So I came back home.

Had 15 extra minutes due to good route choice so I unloaded the dishwasher and had a snack, then headed over to take my friend out for errands. We were back from those at 11:25, I helped her carry her things into the apartment and was back to my house by 11:40. Listened to the messages on the answering machine, and was just pulling out some lunch for myself when the hospital called to have me come get dh. He went in almost an hour early so was finished early.

They had forgotten to call so he had a long wait. Although, had they called earlier, he still would have had a wait since I had just got in the door. I grabbed some cheese and crackers to eat in the car and headed back to the hospital. He was chatting with the doctor (who is writing some MBA exams tonight) and so I had a short wait but my total time in the hospital was just 7 minutes. Parking charge: $3.50!

Stopped for lunch on the way home because dh was fine but a bit lightheaded.

Now I need to respond to one phone call and do the action item from the other phone call. Then take the cards to the store to be mailed. Later I'll go get dh some chinese food for dinner. And then we have a party. So three more trips out today.

I'm planning to tuck a nap into that schedule somewhere because I'm exhausted.

Today I got an email that APPEARED to have come from The Electronic Payments Association titled "Re: urgent system security updates". I happen to know they never contact any consumer directly or ask any individual for info, so went to their site and sure enough there is a press release about a rash of fraudulent emails. "These incidents are occurring with greater frequency and increased sophistication. Perpetrators are conducting similar phishing attacks in which they are sending fraudulent emails that claim to be from the Federal Reserve Bank, IRS, other federal agencies, as well as commercial financial institutions, other payment organizations, technology companies, and businesses." So, be suspicious.

Also, HRH says tell the ladies that he has decided a good product, "The Drinkwell Fountain", saved Orphan Cat's life after her kidney infection and helped keep her going until now. The premise is a cat will drink from running water even if he/she quits stagnant water when ill. Vet said if we couldn't get her to drink she'd go back into life-threatening infection, so we were supposed to keep after her to drink and have bowls all over the house, and I was making "soup" of wet food to force liquids. Shortly after she was in the clinic, we found a chatroom that mentioned getting a fountain to help, and she loves it like an amusement park. Still running fine after 5 months, even though we've changed our minds and moved it to different rooms, taken it apart to clean, etc. He refills by just putting some ice in the front bowl area and she comes running. A LOT cheaper than a vet bill. She still asks for soup, though.

So....so.....so very glad to be home. I am exhausted but the pleasure of being home is covering up how tired I am.

Trip home was uneventful. I did call lawyer on way home and asked if 2 day trial is still scheduled to start Monday. Yes. ***VBSigh** I stopped by her office on my way home and picked up copy of some paperwork they had just received from other lawyer. There are couple legal actions filed but haven't been granted (yet?) so the paralegal will call with results of those tomorrow. Mumbo Jumbo to me. I just nod and pray.

When I arrived home the house looked great. DH did a good job keeping things going (on surface....he doesn't clean like I do). Time to take a look at SHE cards and get back to "normal"

Harriet - I just checked my email box and guess what the first email today was? From "The Electronic Payments Assoc." Re: Your Direct Deposit Declining..."
Wow, they must have hit everyone today, so glad I read your post. I never open any email that I don't recognize, so I rolled over the "The Electronic.." addy and it is a private email address from yahoo, certainly no institution would be using that address. I immediately deleted it, but was amazed at the timing in regards to your post of it happening to you today. Thanks for the heads up on that. It will be interesting if any other SHE's get this fake email today.

Okay - So glad you are home sweet home. Sorry about the court case though. Prayers for the best outcome for LO, you and DH are a wonderful gift in his life.
