Tenth Day Tuesday

Grrr I had a noon appt to get my hair trimmed. The stylist is always just coming in when I do. She put her purse up, etc., looked at me and said I'm ready. I went and sat down. A young man jumps up and comes over and says he has the noon appt. She looked it up on the computer and his name is listed. So she comes to me and asks if I have my appt card. I said no but I just double checked before I left home. She said well maybe it was for another day. Can you come back at 2:30 and I told her no, I needed to babysit my grandkids while dd2 takes sick dgs6 to the dr. She said how about noon tomorrow? I said fine, but I will be bringing my appt card with me. I came home and sure enough, noon today. I keep debating about taking it back right now just to prove to everyone that witnessed this, that I was not wrong. I kept thinking, oh, I give you a 100% tip for Christmas, 4 weeks ago and this is the thanks I get, an embarrassing situation. I started going there several years ago because both dds and dgds went there. I really like this stylist but if it happens again, I will go somewhere else. Both dds and dgds have alreadys changed salons for various reasons. rant over.....

Dh just called and he can get in to see the dr. at 2:30 today. I had left him a note and cash for his copay just in case I missed him, if he was able to get in.

Well I guess I will head to the other house and load up all the Tide and Woolite that I was stocked up on before I bought the HE washer and will take it to dd2.

Happy Birthday Suzlew!!

I have been on task today. I've been able to do more today than yesterday as the uncompleted items are a little more caught up in each time slot. I am enjoying the challenge of completing all cards scheduled for a time slot....even though it rarely happens. As long as I give my best effort, I am happy with the outcome.

I'm trying to "harden" myself up with the cold weather. I remind myself how the northern SHE''s deal with much colder weather than I have and I can then talk myself into giving it a try. Yesterday and today was about 40 degrees with a good breeze when LO and I went outside for an hour. I was surprised to enjoy it as much as I did. I mowed 30 minutes both days with the push mower and found it warmed my body up and I was comfortable. LO is always busy (pushing/pulling/running, etc) and doesn't seem to notice the weather.

Bathroom musings

I cleaned the master toilet, pumice-stoned stains.

Had found a boxed pumice stone called "pumie"scouring stick and thought I'd try. It doesn't have a handle as the one I'm used to, and the texture is obviously more open, so I'm sure it won't be long-lived. But as long as I wear gloves it seems to do very well. Need to pick up some more gloves, as I am down to the right-hand use of a left-hand glove right now.

What do you guys think of the new Cottonelle promotion of their covers for toilet tissue? About the size and shape of a gallon ice cream container. I saw an article on them and the comments below were scathing - like, how would it help since you can't see whether there's a roll inside it or not, and that they look cheap. Do you have better ideas/products? I personally don't like the towers with some of the tissue so close to the floor.

Have searched for a bar-soap dish. We had gotten used to pump dispensers, but my ddad wants bar soap at the sink. He makes quite a mess of it and won't use the heart-shaped dish I put there - does not believe it's a soap dish and I've learned from experience this may never change. My dmom used to have an easy-clean one with a gridded middle to let moisture go through, but just try to find one now! You can find stainless steel, but reviews say they rust. Finally found this one.

I guess I'm done at work. No phone calls, no one has come in so rather than sit here and read, I'll go and run errands. The administrator goes home now, so it is a good time to leave. The resource centre is technically open until 3, though but it isn't my job to staff it all day today, just to put in some hours. I'm here so long because I'm the only one and it is nice to have a person to greet you.

I did install skype on the presbytery minister's laptop so she can do a conference call tomorrow. Taught her how to use it too. That's the first I've had to install something like that and I got stuck trying to think of a good password. She likes the one I chose (her sabbitical project plus the year.)

Harriet, I have a wonderful plastic soap dish that sits on the edge of the sink, holding the soap at a slight angle so the water drips back into the sink. Everyone loves it and wants to know where I got it. Bought it at the dollar store. Only bought one because I wasn't sure it would work and then when I went back, there were no more.

I made soap last week from the ends saved over a decade. We put it into use this morning and it works just fine (it is the size of muffin so I wondered if it would be to big.) Dh is very impressed with his frugal wife. Since it took a decade to save up enough ends for three 'muffins' of soap, I'm sure I won't have a clue how I did this next time I need to make soap.

I've cleared off two shelves and rounded up some things to de-clutter so next up is to get them up and loaded out in the car trunk.

Kathryn, I never doubted you. Tell all guests that it is your personal imported blend. I'd stick quick info on a card and file under "S" in my cardfile. Then, when I needed it I would still forget I had it, but I'd have the benefit of feeling virtuous until then.

Actually, I think it is what he needs, if he would accept that it's the place for soap.

I'm home from Presbytery and errands. It is awfully cold outside so I'm freezing now. Put on my leg warmers but will need another sweater. The Presbytery office is really hot but today I didn't complain at all, I enjoyed not feeling cold for a change.

I am back from Alabama and at the office. I had a nice relaxing time. Does anyone know how to get a visa (to another country, not a credit card!). I have decided to try once a month maid service at my new house. It is only 1250 square feet with 3 br/2 ba. However, I am just not keeping up and do not enjoy cleaning toilets at all. I need to spend my time organizing and finding homes for stuff, not cleaning. I just have to mail them my key (and get keys copied). Tonight is Girls' Night Out with Chinese food and Chuck E Cheese.

clean gutters x H. has cleaned the gutters now he's resting and taking a break.
I've sorted several boxes and smaller containers paper work etc. of misc. stuff from my office in that room and my crafting zone today so I"m feeling productive.

Better a late check-in than none at all.

I dumped a chicken carcass into my crockpot last night to simmer for soup; it has the other ingredients added now (plus the bones have been stripped) so it will be soup for supper. I've been cold all day, and it's because neither Sweetie nor I ever bothered to adjust the thermostat up to the usual daytime setting. We usually do 65 at night, and 70 in the day. However, we raise it from 65 to 70 one or two degrees at a time, or it feels too warm for a while. I just looked and it was still on 67. No wonder i felt chilly.

It is quite cold, in the teens here. I laugh at you with 40 degrees - unless you don't have central heating. Way too many older homes in the south don't, and weather in the 40s is a real hardship then. Even if you have a woodstove or fireplace the warmth is confined to a room or two. Isn't this the third year in a row of genuine cold in the south?
