Productive day. All grades are in computer, gradebook is ready to go for tomorrow, lesson plans are on school website. Still need to organize a few school papers that are in disarray. But yep, I'm ready to get at it again.

Made a DPC also. Sending regrets for baby shower this weekend. Hoping we can go to Nashville this weekend, but wondering if that is going to work out. Ddil is still w/her family. Her dgf passed away today, and ds is going to go tomorrow for the services. The whole reason we might go to Nashville is b/c ds wants to go to basketball game. So... if he is too tired, or ddil doesn't want him to leave her alone her first day back home... then we'll stay home & I might end up going to the shower, after all. Told dfriend I was sending a very "vague" rsvp -- look for me if you see me coming. She said that would be fine.
Fretted about this a lot -- wondered if it was my "social anxiety" that made me want to send regrets, etc.
Talked to dmom.
Dmom said I worry too much about what other people think.
I don't think I do... but I do worry a lot about hurting other people's feelings. And I guess I do worry about people thinking I'm a nut b/c I have this anxiety problem. So I guess dmom is right.

Prepared a package to return via UPS. (DH finally got his last Christmas present, the correct package this time.)

Still no decorations down. Maybe we're waiting for the 12th day of Christmas. * sigh *

Still need to exercise.

DH & DS tonight were talking about coaches who can't seem to quit coaching... and people like Bear Bryant who died within months of retiring... and they got me scared that I will be like that when I retire from teaching. Not that I will DIE @ 51... but that I won't know what to do with myself, you know?
But dh also told me that next year I will be at a different stage in life, with the grandbaby here, and I will know what to do with myself -- or ds & ddil will be making lots of requests for what I can do, anyway. ;)
I hope I will know it IS the right time. And I hope I won't go crazy when I'm not teaching anymore.
And I know... y'all HOPE I don't talk about this every day for the next 18 months.

Waving to all!!!
Tomorrow is another day.

lucylee, HRH is fond of saying he doesn't care if he makes someone mad, as long as he doesn't hurt anyone's feelings. 51 is the new 31.

Reported in cardfile central that I did the county taxes card today. Bleeych. coff. coff. :P Leaves a taste in the mouth.

Realized I have run out of stamps as of now, too. Will need to get by PO quickly before I need to mail anything else.

What I want to do is get so well out ahead that I can mail order them and not have the extra errand, but I don't know when I'll get that done. Usually I am in this position : have to get them in person or else, so might as well pick up enough.

BTW, the most recent Love stamps are absolutely beautiful if you can ever find them. I've told several people they are in exactly dear aunt - my dmom's twin's - favorite colors and designs (like crewel embroidery) and remind me so much of her. I gave a sheet of them as a Christmas gift in my card I sent to the lady in church who has a card-sending ministry.

Big errand day tomorrow starts early-early on coldest morning so far this winter.

Dove shuffles into the village in her slippers & jammies, with a mug of tea in one hand & a tissue box in the other ...

Happy January -- achooo :) ! Starting off the new year sick was not in my plans, but better now than last week when dh & I were having so much fun running around & visiting with dfamily. My ten things I did today included taking cold Rx, eating chicken soup, & napping. Repeat, repeat ;) .

Happy Birthday to Suzlew! Even though she & her dh retired years ago I still think of her whenever I see a kettle corn stand at a fair, festival or craft show.

Harriet, dh likes bar soap to wash his face in the AM. I read a trick somewhere of cutting a sponge to fit the inside of a shallow soap dish & that works great here. Any wet soap residue left on the sponge "hides" under the bar itself. Once in a while I scrape off the accumulation or flip the sponge over.

My sleep schedule is so off; we are staying up too late because of long naps & then getting up too late. As long as we let ddog out before we go to bed she lets us sleep at least eight hours -- good dog  !

Still enjoying the Christmas decorations but hoping I feel well enough to start taking things down this weekend. Have done some planning in my head & put up the new calendars. Reading about others ideas & success with 3x5 cards (Go, OKay!! You are amazing with your cards! 8-) ) is inspiring me.

Enjoyed reading posts for today. Feeling sleepy now so think I'll go read until I fall asleep. Dh is watching a movie (or maybe falling asleep in front of the tv :P )

Sweet dreams, everyone.

Lilac and Dee, don't either of you be catching your DHs' germs! Dove, you get better, too.

Harriet, not a fan of the t tissue covers. Can't imagine DH liking such an inconvenient thing. I have a soap dish with the insert. It's very old, I'm thinking almost 20 years, it fits into a recessed soap space on my laundry tub and I use it there. Stamps are pretty. I'm mad at the PO right now, though. This morning I had to pay 20 cents extra for 2 sheets of what amounts to tissue paper! 2 manilla envelopes went out, 1 had those 2 extra lightweight sheets and that was the difference. Sheesh!

Cathyy, I think you're right about the cold in the South. I am going crazy with it. We never used to have this much cold. Maybe a day or so a year. I'm out of patience with it, really.

Twins, ooh sorry about the mishap in the BathR. How will you fix that?
Indiana, good to know you are recovering. MT, how is your knee?

I spent at least 3 hours outside in the chill covering all the plants. This time I used 2 garden cartloads of stones (left over from the fireplace we built) to hold down the covers. I also used a bucket of clothespins to pin veggie covers to the frames. Then DH and I lifted plastic over and around the papaya and grapefruit trees with a couple poles and clips he rigged up. They look like huge alien lighted spaceships in the yard now.

He was up on that steep roof like I thought, fixing the skylight and his ankle is so sore he can barely walk. Hoping it's better tomorrow.

Went to my committee meeting tonight and it was nice, we have a bigger group to share the work this year. I came home and typed up the minutes and emailed them to the head to see if they're ok the way I did them. I was afraid I'd forget it all if I waited!

Cold in the house. Extra blanket tonight for sure.
