Another item for my endless list: check the expiration date on my passport! Travel is so complicated.

My office is cold, but my officemate is hot. It's probably just me. At payroll, I am making slides to go with an instructional module. It's hard. I'm so tired, I am working on getting the cats to leave me alone after the lights go out. Hasn't happened yet.

Hi all. I was off to a good start today and then sort of petered out after I did errands.

Errands done:
-WW - down 2 pounds. :)
-Target
-church - drop off forms so dd13 can go on the middle school retreat next weekend
-bank - for cash

Home:
-had lunch since I ran out of the door w/out bfast - or even tea. (I got a cup of Starbucks coffee at Target to tide me over)
-looked up scholarships for one of the universities ds applied regular action
-checked emails
-reclaimed kitchen
-sat and read for a while

I forgot about dd13's orthodontist appt. this morning, so that is rescheduled for Monday morning.

We are watching S and R's cat Cheeto while they're out of town this weekend. Lily and Cheeto do NOT get along, not even after 2 days in the same house. Pepper gets along with everyone, thank goodness.

Dh and I are going jogging along the river at 4 pm. It is 51 degrees here right now!! And sunny! :D

Off to start laundry and work on my letter.

Yes, travel is complicated. Most countries require at least 6 months remaining on your passport. Since Canadian passports are only good for 5 years and it takes about 6 weeks to get a new one, that means Canadian passports are only good for 4 years, 4 months. And my photos get more and more discouraging as time goes by. (I loved Erma Bombeck's book title "When You Look Like Your Passport Photo, It's Time to Go Home")

I'm barely moving here. Did the ironing (3 items) and dumped the compost. Just to be able to cross something off my list. Also made a phone call to Blue Cross. I always feel I deserve a gold star for that.

Will send a fax next because if I don't, I won't have a place to sleep when I get to Capetown.

The maids are coming! They got my key and are coming Monday!!! Monday night instead of cleaning, I will try to do some moving in. I still have two boxes and some assorted items from my trip in the MBR. The hobby room is a total disaster and I need to finish a project for DD9. I am making a stuffed Bug-A-Boo. This is a Bug-A-Boo: http://www.jillthompsonart.com/cast.html. I realized I had totally forgotten he has horns!

Elizabeth, you are going to have to close the door between you and the cats. With all fed and content, and with everything they need located outside your room, go to bed and close the door. I can see how there still might be some yeowling, but they'll get over it. If there's fighting, find another door that can close to keep them separate. HRH tells dd13 to encourage a lot of play through the evening hours so her kitten (teenaged kitten by now) will be tired when lights go out.

Elizabeth: the bug-a-boo is adorable. I assume he'll be kept under dd's bed?

I'm so slow moving today it is ridiculous. I'm wondering if it is a slight reaction to the yellow fever shot. Almost a general malaise.

I did get the last box of decorations down to the basement. I have left up the greenery and when it is dropping needles too fast, the decorations woven into that will go into storage so Christmas isn't completely cleaned up but almost. I'm going to count that as my zone work this week.

I've also replaced the Christmas wreath on the front door with a winter wreath. I decided a really tacky wreath my mom made at bridge club in the 70's is ready to be recycled. It was so tacky I've actually been quite fond of it but I'm getting over that. I still have the plate she made another year so it isn't as if I've tossed all the decorations she made. Anyway, I used the grapevine base of the wreath and some of the pine cones to make the winter wreath.

I have one I make up for Feb but since I'm leaving on Feb. 9, I might not put it out this year.

Sent the fax. And put away the coolers that I was using in the garage for additional fridge space. It is time to unplug the outdoor Christmas lights (it is Epiphany today and I leave my lights on until then.) That's going to make the house seem really dark. I might keep one set up because I can't bear to part with them all.

I'm slow moving today, too, Kathryn. I've been sneezing randomly, and am wondering if I'm catching dh's man cold. I took a long afternoon nap. I was exhausted last night and dh and I both went to bed quite early, but I still felt exhausted when the alarm went off this morning.

I made the full round of phone calls earlier and don't know how long I spent holding - also called about sending back the Dell computer that we had ordered for dd, that she mistakenly took delivery of yesterday. Made an appointment with a new doc for my dmom later this month, but got an appt with current RNP for Tuesday also.

Going to try again on getting things done around here.
-reboot laundry
-put away a basket of laundry (mostly sheets and towels)
-make the bed
-take out kitchen trash
-straighten up MBR + bath

I resemble helia in that I was getting things done early, then fizzled.

All morning routines, trek, dailies and outdoors were done well.
Mt Washmore has been dealt a blow and is almost a hill.
One DPC accomplished.

About Mt Washmore here - all I ask is that it stay inside the baskets. Is that too much to ask? Sure, the "darks" basket or the "tees and sweats" basket may be the one that's overfed at any given time, but as long as items are AIMED correctly, there should be no creep-over of edges!!! As soon as this creep-over business starts, suddenly no one sorts at all any more. (They don't sort in the baskets anyway - they sort mid-air. It's a wrist action, really.)
