Our table and chairs were just delivered. They look really nice there. The table can be oval or round. If it is round the leaf folds in. It has a pedestal base.

We bought the theatre set and found an area rug that is perfect. I have never had an area rug but we had decided rather than replace the family room carpet at this time, we would go with an area rug. Dh only agreed to that after he seen all the area rugs on carpet at the furniture stores. This area rug is just what we need to tie the furniture together with the wall color. It is paneling that dd1 and I helped dd2 paint. It is called St. Barts and is a tealish color with more blue to it than green. I loved the color but would never have been brave enough to paint a room that color. Anyway the area rug has a lot of burgundy in it with a blue that looks like the St. Barts in the design with a dark tan. I would have paid full price since I liked it so much, but she knocked off a third. We jumped on it.

Well, I am glad to hear that English teacher is managing well, Harriet!
There are times that I have to say, "Okay, no more! Everyone close your mouth and open your book!" But overall, I imagine I do probably too much communicating w/my students, and I'm probably too open with them sometimes. But as I said earlier, I do think the "customer" has a right to be heard, at the bare minimum (!) -- even if I don't end up agreeing that the customer is always right!

PROGRESS:
Everything is boxed up except the tree & the lights which are still on it.
Laundry has been started.
Dmom has been called. Said she didn't feel like doing computer work anyway; I should stay home & get my Christmas stuff down.
Back to work.

I need to get moving on Quicken updating. I got distracted and had a FB conversation with one of dh's cousins. The subject was budgeting, something I'm expert in so I couldn't shut. As you all know, I know no short stories!

I'm trying to think of something that will motivate me and I'm coming up blank. I suppose a timer is the best plan, although I set a 20 minute one to limit my internet usage and that was 90 minutes ago, so I don't think it worked all that well!

Loved the last of the carols in church today. Reminds me of my childrens christmas pagent years with some of the less commercial hymns/carols. Playing my old cassettes too to give them a loving.

I'm still waiting.... Hope they are not to long as I planned a bbq lunch. And wanted dsil to get hd out of mac for me so it can go otd safely, and not have my hd end up sold in africa.
I cut and hemmed a sheet for dgd, and one for toys to match.

Really I ort vacuum. My get up and go is stagnant. Might change into shorts. Might be at least cooler. 35=95 here inside with fan puffing about.

I have continued taking down Christmas decor (tree ornaments and lights already down) and of course in the middle of that had a visitor. I told him (the friend of HRH's who recently lost his father) that if he'd come the day before I could have lit the tree for him. I'm afraid he had a difficult visit as my ddad dominated the conversation with things in which he had no interest, and he had a hard time getting his points across to us. Also he was disappointed because HRH didn't get home during his visit. But he was very patient and they'll catch up with each other later. I was worried, as was dd, to hear my ddad's version of facts veer further from reality than we've heard before.

There are more decorations to put away this year - I bought another nutcracker for dd, for instance - and somehow I'm not packing as precisely, either. It's not really a problem because I'm organizing the shelving well and do have room for another box, just makes me note that in the future we'll want to pare down.

One of the boys will help HRH take the tree out the next time they are by, and put the stand away.

Evening Daily Card is done well. Today's laundry was... jeans. That's it, a simple sentence, rather than 2 or 3 loads to catch up as it has been for several days. Yay! It's a good thing Mt. Washmore is graded some. Now if I can get to one Weekly to say I've finished by the end of each day, too, as I've been posting in Cardfile Central. Then I'll feel I'm really back on track in the house.

Dd13 discovered her big sister's teaching lectures on YouTube and is very impressed. I didn't recognize her voice! dd13 was on the other side of her laptop hiding the visual from me, saying, "You don't know who you're hearing?" and I really didn't! I did think it was a well-spoken woman but I was trying to think what reporter dd would find so interesting! (Dd31 is a Faculty Trainer for the state's Technical College system, teaching how to use computers for distance learning, testing, and other faculty/student communication. ) Btw, I think I've gotten her age wrong here when I've posted a few times with "Dd33", when it is dstepson who is 2 years older than she - she is not 32 yet.

Harriet: I wondered about how fast that dd of yours was aging, but figured it was part of the time flying since you keep mistyping dd7 as dd13!

I got quicken updated, bills paid and money transferred to dd. Also did the reconciling on the credit card I share with ds. That was depressing as it added another $550 to his debt. Not bad considering it was Christmas but still he'll take the news hard. I didn't send him the total of the debt because he's in delicate shape these days.

He is completely exhausted because he's only had 2 days off since December 19th (and worked a lot of nights in there) and won't get a day off until next Friday at the very earliest. He had scheduled himself off next weekend but Thursday has been denied. He has let his supervisor know he is desperate for a day off and while the others on the IT project that has him working over 75 hours this week had between Christmas and New Years off, he didn't because he had to work his regular job at the hospital.

He was supposed to take a 4 day weekend next weekend and go away but now even a 3 day weekend may be denied. He is very, very, discouraged as a result.

I'm meeting him for lunch tomorrow (he's working in the morning and figured if he had a lunch date with his mom, they'd have to let him go at lunch time.) This project is at crunch time, they are to start delivering it next week so that's why the sudden crush of hours for him. This is supposed to be a half-time position for ds so that's why he was working as many hours as he could get at the hospital as well. But for the next 4 weeks it will be full time so he's been removed from the hospital schedule and all the overtime he needs to work has been authorized.

On the bright side, this means he stands a chance of paying me off as scheduled this month, despite the increase in his debt to me.
