On this day in 1790, President George Washington delivered the first ever State of the Union in New York City.
The State of the Union is (very simply put), takes a look at where things are now, and outlines a broad agenda for the coming year.
What goals do you have for this year?

Re: State of the Union Sunday
I have several goals this year, in several areas of my life.
1. Reduce the clutter in my house by at least 50%
2. Lose at least 40lbs
3. Take at least 3 courses at work to improve my skills
4. Spend at least two days/month with dMum (helping, visiting, whatever....)
5. Keep in touch with dbro/dsis/daunt at least once/month
6. Pay down debt by at least 50%
Now..of course...I have to make mini-goals and babysteps to lay out the path to achieving these goals, but that's a job for when I've had a little more coffee!
DH has just gotten home from work (last-minute alarm), so I'm going to spend a few minutes with him before getting started on my rounds.

Re: State of the Union Sunday
Happy Birthday Lynnlee!!
Thanks for the SOU information Bittersweet! You always have interesting tidbits of information to share.
This past week, I've been giving LO a stack of one dollar bills to sort & count. He is fascinated with counting anything so I tell him I need <insert any # under 10> dollars. This exercise has also taught him that George Washington is on money. Yesterday someone gave him a $5 dollar bill and LO instantly told them about George Washington picture but when he looked it wasn't George.
Thinking of Indiana and hoping today is a better day. (((Hugs)))

Okay, LO is so very blessed to be with you and your dh. He seems to be a sponge with all the learning opportunities that he is exposed to. You are doing great!
bittersweet, those are some great goals that you have made for yourself. The best part is, with babysteps and mini-goals you will succeed and we will be here cheering you on.

Wow, bittersweet, you are a force. I'm as proud as if I had something to do with it. Actually, I'm tickled because I think it means you'll be posting with us more often in forums here, too. Makes me remember it's time for a new "Paper Tamers' Tame By April" thread in Organization and Simplification Forum. Done
Yes, "where things are now". Gotta be honest when you face that one as much as where you're going - it's tough. Very often I am wearing rose-colored glasses when I assess where things really are as a stepping-off point.
A Ta-Da I meant to report - weekly of deep cleaning the front bathroom. My ddad is very hard on this room and it took a lot. It needs some thought as far as new towel bar(s). I wish I'd gotten it done before company surprised us yesterday, but I can only keep chasing. It's not that it was actually used by company anyway, but as P and P used to say, "Does this room need Pine-Sol?". (Paraphrasing there for sure - what was that from? One of the books?)
Hi back to sherinjoy. Is it nice to be home and not traveling so much?
LisaB , thinking of you with your new round of activity. Hope you're having fun.

Re: State of the Union Sunday
Good morning everyone; my bs is up a bit today.
take meds x
Church is in a bit I'm having a cup of tea now & just had a cookie for breakfast.
My back is slowly improving so I'm glad about that.
No snow or rain and it's warmer than normal here nice for my walks but skiing places are not open due to lack of the white stuff!

Re: State of the Union Sunday
I'm off to a good start. Exercised, s2s including shaving my legs and made it to church in good time (but not enough time to put up the hymn numbers.)
Nice church service and it didn't run as long as I thought it would.
Nice time after at coffee hour but we stayed there so long, I missed hearing an online church broadcast I was hoping to listen to. I'll try again next week. I'm hoping to find something I can listen to online while on the ship so need something that isn't broadcast in video as well as sound, but just sound.
Now I'm going to work on getting a menu plan for the month and a grocery list made up. I'm snacking on crackers to tie me over until lunch with ds.

Re: State of the Union Sunday
I think the state of our union when G. Washington was president was probably better than the state of our union today! I sure wish everything would pick up around here.
Lilac, furniture and rug sound very nice.
Harriet and DD, I sincerely hope that teacher is nice to you and listens and agrees with you when you speak to her.
(Indiana) hoping you are having a better day.
Twins, I'm enjoying all the house plan talk too.
Yesterday was weird. I got up at 5:00 am because things on my mind woke me. Was checking email for something important from dd and found other stuff from church there to deal with. Later, spent a couple hours at church helping put packets of information together. We have a building project in planning stages going on at our church. Lots of work. Nap in the afternoon killed sleepiness for nighttime so now I'm all backward again!
Today was church. I am hoping to do a few things around here this afternoon. One last box of Christmas decorations to go up in closet. Maybe look at my fabrics and do a little sewing...she says hopefully.

Re: State of the Union Sunday
It has been a strange 2 days with DH not feeling well. I'm heading off to the grocery store in a bit (as soon as my phone charges). Usually he wants to do that. He is chilled and dizzy. Don't know what it going on with that.
I'm feeling pretty good. I still get tired from trouble breathing but the cold is pretty much gone.
Hoping Indiana feels better soon. I worry about her and keep checking FB for news. Her niece said she would let me know via FB.

Bsweet that's a great q. for me it's get back on track with my quiet time daily reading did that today. Be a bit more giving so I took cake mixes to the church for the youth and gave 'em to the youth pastor this morning.
Stay on track with de-cluttering; got some progress with that this weekend the items I had in the trunk have been donated now. {Some last night and the rest today. While we were out and about town.}
I spiffed the kitchen before we left today as there is an add running for our house today in the local news paper.
I slept better than I thought I would last night so that is a bit of good news yea!
