Honey-Do, Job Jar and Delegating Saturday

I used to hate that I did not have any one to delegate to when h. was working umpteen hours the kids were gone there was not any one to delegate to! But these days it's better, like when h. cleaned the gutters earlier in the month, and today he is cooking his own breakfast, & cleans up his dishes, makes the bed. H. will start or transfer a load of laundry over for me also. I'm considering sending him to the dgson bb game alone not sure yet on that.

My pre-breakfast bs reading was down today so that helps still up but not as much as the other day yea!

I'm generally not comfortable with delegating chores. I also like to give DH a break most of the time since he works so hard. That does leave a lot on my shoulders, though.

I've been trying to do a quick clean around here. Sweeper has been run, ready for mopping next. Throw rugs vacuumed and shook too. LOL ready to hang out.

Just having a laid-back day, quiet, here. Tenant came by to pay his water bill. DH back resting again and I guess I'll make some lunch. We went back to bed this morning. I was really wiped out from all the excitement yesterday.

Dh and I used Saturdays for projects as we called them.

Now I have a "honey-do, job jar and delegating". The response is immediate. Now I have my project put into the work order book and it is taken care of the same day or the next day.

My tasks range from hanging pictures to adjusting the automatic closure on my door. Everyone is wonderful.

Indiana & Lilac - I'm so glad your new homes are such a blessing to you! I just love hearing how the change has been positive and is working out well.

My plans for today were changed after receiving a phone call from DGS16 early this morning. We had made plans to go on a road trip together today, however he is sick. So we will put those plans on hold until he feels better. maybe we can do it next weekend.

We are continuing to enjoy beautiful sunshine and almost no wind. I want to stay outside as much as possible when the weather is like this.

I've cooked a pot of beans (pressure cooker) this morning and LO begged to have a bowl of them as soon as the pot cooked enough to get the lid off. That fella sure does like beans!

need to update my cards for today. I've been busy but haven't marked them completed to know how many I've accomplished.

So much for the special ordered sink fitting! Dh is now off to HD hoping to find a LARGE round, square or rectangle sink that he can cut the opening to fit.

He had sent me to the store to buy steaks since they were on sale. It has been several months since we grilled steak and it sounds really good.

Better go find something productive to do, either here or at the other house.

We are sitting in the desert with our friends - however they don't know we are here yet. They are off somewhere having lunch. We don't care - we parked and are now set up and on-line.

It is noisy here next to I-10 but it will turn into white noise after just a little while and we won't here it.

Off to put the pillow cases on and clean off the bed a bit more. Also need to find a place for my tote of HOA stuff that I brought along to do.

I am back from my walk first day that I've been able to do a full walk in a week it was cold and my back was out last week so I'm glad I was able to do that today.

I have turkey sausage & chili thawing to cook up and put in the crock pot to have tomorrow.
Glad I thought of that on my walk.

I'm having tea warming up from my walk it's 40* outside but still cold to me.

I've been reading about the Paula Deen announcement that she has type 2 diab. not surprised at all by this, her son is doing healthier meals on a new show on the food channel it's about time! Duh; love her show but looks like she can't eat that either now. My realitives who live in the south that eat like that all have type 2 also.

I'm back - a little earlier than I had thought, so that is very good. I've had 1/2 cup cottage cheese and a banana for lunch; my tummy is feeling a little off.

Interesting comments re: delegating and busy dhs. Dh here is another extremely hard worker, and he knows he needs to work on that a bit. He never decouples from his (payroll) work, will work until the wee hours of the morning when needed, works as much as possible on "vacations" - he even worked Cmas day. But he also has an amazing amount of energy. He is like his mother that way. I am NOT that way! (Maybe that is why we married each other.) I think he enjoys the physical labor around the house as a break from his payroll job - although, at payroll, he is not purely theoretical as he actually produces something physical. Not all profs do that. He likes working with his hands, thus his woodworking and ceramics hobbies -- although, he hasn't had much time in years for woodworking. He has enforced his ceramics by taking a weekly class; even so, he is usually quite late. If he's in a crunch, payroll work definitely gets the priority over work around the house.

Ds got a 1 rating, so he is happy and his teacher will be happy. He played a Gershwin piece arranged for clarinet and piano, so it was a bit challenging for him and his accompanist. It wasn't their best rendition, apparently, but it was good enough!

Alright, I need to finish prep for tonight: make bread sticks, tidy play room, s/s bathroom downstairs, and perhaps do dd13's vacuuming chore since she is at the retreat.
