It's been gloomy here all day and we just had a rain shower. Temp. has been falling all day and is now at 64*F. I'm not complaining; I didn't have to go out today and we needed the rain!

Interesting topics here today about the internet, cruise ships and P Deen. All the info on these subjects is appreciated. *** I would think that cruise lines should be reviewing their safety plans to ensure crew and passengers follow safety guidelines. *** As far as copyrighted material goes I have never downloaded music or printed material etc. that is copyrighted. Most websites I've perused have that material blocked somehow so one cannot copy/download without paying first. *** P. Deen ----- Maybe this issue wasn't mentioned previously because she had a contract with The Food Network that either she could not break or that it would affect the channel negatively. Also they would have needed time to put together a season (or longer) of programming for her son's program. I always did think that her style of cooking was far too rich for my blood and my pocketbook!

Nothing new going on with me. I've been doing my regular routines and picking away at decluttering, etc. We still have to go through those dvds and vcr tapes, and in thinking about this have decided that since the two end sections are open shelving we needed some kind of boxes or containers to store the dvds in, otherwise I'd be spending a lot of time dusting lots of items instead of one containter per shelf!

Another project I want to work on is to reorganize my control journal. I started to do this many months ago, but had to suspend this activity due to other important matters.

Time to think about dinner...hot turkey sandwiches and salad. Ddogs are indicating that they are hungry also!

Get ready for round two it's starting to snow a few flakes again.

I got the mail and fetched mail for neighbor while I was there and shoveled a trail to her
doorway and behind her car so she could get out when roads are better. The snow plow has not been by and they have not graveled yet either on our stree.

H. just got a call for jury duty next Tues.

Alas... I am not very interesting or intelligent right now. Just tired. Just realized my throat sorta hurts, too...

We're taking ds & ddil out to eat tonight -- told her we'd celebrate her new job.

I have finished my document review and made CDs for it. I have also converted all the scripts. I have no idea what I will be doing at payroll tomorrow. Right now I am waiting for some pictures of dogwood flowers to print. I am going to use them as subjects for my next project at art class.

Tonight I am having company for dinner so I must get a move on and make sure there is dinner! No worries, it's just heat then eat: ham, black eyed peas, and rice. The first and last are in the freezer and the middle is in the fridge.

Wading in where I probably shouldn't.

Paula Deen, nor ANYONE else didn't get diabetes because of what she ate. She became diabetic because of her DNA or from some stessor that she experienced. What she ate might have caused complications - just like what I eat causes complication. But FOOD DOES NOT GIVE YOU DIABETES!!!

One of the ways to keep it under control is to watch your food intake. Fats raise my blood sugar much faster than sugar. That is just my body's way of doing things. For my daughter, it is carbs - she does not tolerate any carbs - but can eat fats. Go figure. My diabetes has been under control for the last 15 years with the minimum amount of oral meds. DD#1 has been under control for 4 years with diet and exercise.

We both were pretty sure we were going to become diabetic as my father and his mother both were diabetic (full blown on insulin). My other daughter and my son have not shown any signs of diabetes.

We have had a super great day in the desert. We think there were about 300 people here today. Everything went very well. Made new friends and were glad to see the old.

Today has been almost non-stop care for elders and youngsters. LO was sick all through the night. I lost count how many times I was up with him. I remember at one point not returning to bed, but just rocking him in the chair while we both dozed. The whole night is kinda a blur.

The morning started off with me getting out the door first thing to take Dmom to follow up mammogram. The one from last week was "abnormal" so they wanted a redo. We are counting our blessings because after they did several views today, they said all is well. YIPPPEEEE!!

This afternoon the pediatrician worked LO in which meant we sat in the waiting room for over an hour before he could be seen. The nurse suspected strep so did that test before we saw the doctor. Thankfully it came back negative. Doc said the symptoms and fever appears to be viral in nature but LO does have a little bit of red in one ear so we came home with antibodies to take for a few day.

By the time we got out of the doctor office, we were late to pick up the older DGS's and Gf. Since LO has a virus and we don't know how contagious it is, we ended up taking older DGS's some $$ for them to take themselves out to eat supper. It was the best I could do on a short notice. They were appreciative of the effort, even though we missed spending our evening together.

I expect tonight will be another long one spent holding LO through most of it, but hopefully tomorrow he will start improving and feeling better.

Do y'all think perhaps P. Deen was concerned if she came out with her information people would quit watching her show; she would no longer be popular and have a following; and she could face cancellation. Who knows? DH and I call her "the butter lady". It's funny to watch her, Oh, there goes the butter again!

All I know is I wish they'd find a cure or a preventative. The numbers of people coming down with this disease are rising.

We were cloudy here today too, with a very light sprinkle this afternoon. Most of the heavier rain was north of us. It was not enough and I went out and watered the veggies and some of the grass. Everything is very brown around here, we are very dry. Wow, saw the Washington State snow. I wonder how Lurkylou is making out?

I have many many outside chores needing done. I have a list in my head for the next sev. days at least. Wash is in now. Dinner is done. I'm getting through all the stuff in the freezer, it's been a joy to have all these good meals from there that I didn't have to do anything but thaw and heat!

OKay, happy to read your DMom had a good test; I hope LO feels better soon and you both get a good night's sleep.

How would you carry your passport on your body, Kathryn? Also was wondering how people scan their passport to retrieve on any computer without id theft? Obviously I'm still green -even after cruising once. We are considering a cruise this coming winter -Nov or Dec. DD has never gone and wants to try it. Depends on her vacation schedule (school).

Keep losing internet unfortunately.

Found out tonight that I have to usher Sunday (it's 'womens' Sun) and they've also asked me to do the bulletin for the following Sunday. Hope I can remember the instructions and the program. I've only used Publisher once -when I last did the bulletin. The pastor helped quite a bit and unfortunately he's no longer there. They're also having a reception following church for new 'members' -which includes us. I have to get right back after church to be here for our Annual Meeting up home via Skype, so not sure I can stay. Sure it'll all come together.

Agree, MT -diabetes 2 is different for every family. As I said DD SHOULD have had it and never did, skinniest DS is borderline, oldest son had it, DD-Shelley who passed away had it until she had gastric bypass, youngest DS-A -been my fear that he'll end up with it because of his size. So we'll see.

I'm done with dinner had a new recipe I tried coating chicken breasts with oat flour and corn flakes with seasoning and a sprinkling of parm. cheese baked it yum. Smelt great when I came in from my latest round of snow removal at the neighbors. [Love that for bs control!] It's great therapy too tossing snow at the realtor's sign! LOL! 12" + are expected north of us in the next 24 hrs. then the white stuff is heading East get ready folks!

Sorry to hear Lo has been ill, dson's boss's kids are ill with a bug too.

as I heard it re internet proposals - any complaint could see a site closed without any right to defend itself.
Here proposals to control content on internet had for example - a dentist, also garfiel comic site - banned

info on carrying id etc probably has lots of parallels - all sorts of places. The few identified in Indonesian tragedy are mainly being id'd by whats in their pockets .

re cooking show. contracts can be wierd beasts. as is the variety of results from eating same food in different people.

re sweeteners how much is surely a factor, as in how much fat. as is how much of what sort of carbs - for those who do not believe all carbs are created equal. or fats, or sweeteners for that matter.

The info re cruising is interesting. Not that that is a plan of mine. Possibly it has other parallels in terms of size and safety and surroundings.
