Re: Thinkin' Thursday
We've seen the first cars go by until this afternoon it's been all trucks going by very slowly now it's slushy out with the rains we been having today. I shoveled out to the road for my exercise only took 20 min. but I was bushed!
Speaking of feeding the birds I crushed up corn flakes and put out a bit of oat meal smaller birds have been coming up on the deck to eat. With the gravel exposed now they will be heading for that too I suppose.

Re: Thinkin' Thursday
Nap is done. Didn't do any good so I've taken an advil for my headache.
Snow squalls are moving in so dh wants to get me back home as soon as possible, thus is trying to get us out the door to the restaurant. But he wanted ds to join us.
Ds is currently on a border run and says the squalls are where he is but not to worry because he has snow tires now. He does, but they are in the back seat of the car!
Once he crosses the border he'll call again and we'll decide if we'll do dinner together. He can meet us at the restaurant on his way home (he'll be 30 minutes behind us.)
Dh's flight is on time because it doesn't leave until later tonight but with the storm coming he's thinking that will change.

Re: Thinkin' Thursday
That's what I'm talking about, Harriet -- and others who expressed similar thoughts. I'm not stalking ddil! I just don't want to go to school and have 10 kids tell me, "Hey, Mrs. Lucylee, I saw that your son & his wife are having a boy/girl!" Or my cousin to be calling me before ddil has a chance to. Oh my goodness... this FB generation is unreal. But like you said, too, Harmony -- I realize that is how this younger generation lives. However, I can also definitely relate to the idea of how one might share TMI during labor that might go on and on and on. * sigh * I will have to suggest -- at least to ds, but I think I will tell both of them -- and put it off to DH's sensitive nature... must still report that it truly hurt my feelings when HRH and I called my dear, close cousin Mary to let her be the first person we told precious news, and she stammered that her daughter had already read it on FB the night before and told her all about it then.
I can't stay long -- we are expected @ dinlaws' for "going away" party for dnephew! He is leaving this weekend for internship all the way across the country! Dmil is very sad... but understands. She took a similar trip, alone, by train, when she was even younger -- to accompany dfil to San Francisco, where he was stationed w/the Navy. Dnephew is almost 22, and will graduate in August. So... BBL.
Tomorrow is another day.

Re: Thinkin' Thursday
Dh is at the airport now and I tucked into home. No snow on my drive home but only 15 minutes later, it started here (still isn't hitting the city yet.) Correction, dh said it just started there (I'm IMing with him in another window.)
Ds took too long at the border so couldn't meet us for supper.
No other news here. I think I'll go watch a movie.

Re: Thinkin' Thursday
Kathryn, I hope your DH's flight got off ok with snow coming in and all.
I'm so glad I don't have to drive in bad weather or travel in it. Course, the down side to that is we never get to go anywhere!
I went out and got groceries this afternoon. Just reading everybody's posts about their weather had me wanting to make a big pot of chilli. And I got other stuff we were out of.
Not much else done, but a couple checks written, 1 helper came in for his paycheck too. It looks so much better around here since I cleaned up all the lights. DH drove a truck into the back yard and rode over and smashed a perfectly good fan hose nozzle. That's what I get for not coiling it up on the holder, I guess.
I've been sewing in between things also. I had to give up some computer time, some tv time and all of my reading time to have time for this. It's different, but I'm getting used to it.

Re: Thinkin' Thursday
We stayed really late at dinlaws'. Had a nice time, though. Of course, dfil slept through the whole thing, and dnephew & family all left a good bit earlier than we did, but we just continued sitting around talking w/ds, ddil, and dmil.
Wondering if someone will give ddil a shower... you know, b/c she hasn't really gotten to know a lot of people, even though she's lived here a while...
And y'all will be sooo proud of me!!! I didn't even MENTION how/when I thought it would be appropriate to announce baby's gender!
I thought, maybe I will just quietly mention that to ds... so HE will know to CALL US as soon as they know -- so if she's on her phone announcing to the world, at least he can be on his phone announcing to US!
We are going to a chili supper tomorrow night. Weather is kinda warming up again here for the weekend, but chili will probably be good. I hope so, at least. It's at a fund-raiser thing where ds and some friends are going to be playing.
What are you sewing, Harmony? That's too bad about dh's mishap w/the truck & the hose nozzle... hope tempers didn't flare for too long!
Hope dh has a good trip, Kathryn. Hope your headache is gone by now!
WTG on all that shoveling, Nancy!
(((Helia))) & (((Dfriend & family))) Hope Mr. Helia has good travel, too!
Waving to Elizabeth... Sadie... and EVERYONE else!!!
(I feel sorta out of sync, too. Seems like I get here so late I cannot keep up with posting to everyone, and I feel like I'm ignoring everyone... so I hope y'all will accept my apologies and know that I am thinking of you ALL!)

Re: Thinkin' Thursday
Dove, I know exactly what you mean, about cards/pad/pen being calming. Yes. I don't think I could ever manage a digital list/planner.
Hmmmmm... I hope ddil isn't stalking ME here in the PWYC village. Y'all know that's one reason why I'm so paranoid. Sooo afraid I'll post something here, be "discovered" and sound sooo stupid... and be sooo embarrassed... or worse... hurt someone's feelings.
* sigh * But -- no offense to any of you -- but I don't think a "homemakers' board" of mostly women our age would sound very interesting to her even if I invited her in! LOL. So I think I can keep this my little private safe-place... whereas, when people have 500 friends on FB, including some of my IRL friends... and family members... and my students... well, surely people realize there is nothing private or "safe" about it!
However, I fussed at ds & ddil one time when an IRL friend told me, "Oh, I saw where ds/ddil are on their way to Out of Town Somewhere" -- and they did NOT appreciate it. (I thought it was not smart to post, in effect, "Our house is empty; come rob us." But... considering that... if they want to tell the world all at once, when they finally do know if we're getting a boy or a girl... well... so be it. I'll just ask ds to PLEASE make that real voice phone call at the same time for his dad's sake.
