More, More, More Monday

Post by bittersweet »

Wow! I can't believe the village is still sleeping!! I've been up for a while, and have gotten a couple of things done. Today, my goal is going to be to use my timer, and whenever I think I'm done with something, I'm going to allow myself 5 more minutes to work on it. SO much can be accomplished in that little bit of time! This is also a good way for me to indulge my perfectionist tendencies without them (hopefully!) getting out of control!

What will you do to add that "little bit more" to your daily routines - without stressing yourself out about it!

More, More, More indeed! The title today makes me smile because I was just thinking I need MORE of the momentum I've had to continue this week. I believe I've zeroed in on a Basic Weekly Plan that can stand the test of time around here.

I'm back from school run and ready for the Morning Daily Card. My ddad has had breakfast and I've brought him the paper.

Sunshine is streaming in the windows but it dropped in temp quite a bit last evening. Both dd and I had tickley throats and I think it was because the heat had to dry the house out more than usual. I may run the humidifier some even midday. I had to tell my ddad he needs to put off his walk until the very middle of the day today.

This is one of those sad winters when little buds start and then are hurt by frost and ice. I even saw a yellow crocus yesterday. Too bad.

Good Morning!

I love my timer too!! I don't use my favorite free standing countdown timer as frequently as I used to because I use my watch since it is always with me. However there are somethings that the free-standing timer is always used for - mostly with LO so he can see the numbers. We always use the free standing timer as we practice music daily.

We are STILL not feeling our best. I gave up last night as I felt my chest tightening up and took myself to ER. My main concern was making sure I am doing everything possible to not get pneumonia again. The doctor gave me a couple of prescriptions (steroids and antibodies) but said the only thing that cures a virus is time. Just continue to drink as much as possible and take it easy.

Know those buds are starting up home (western NY State), Harriet. Know there will be temps to thwart them however. The big worry up there is the fruit trees budding too early and then being frosted. See they had a little snow last night, but temps are back up to about 47 tomorrow. Roller coaster winter for sure!

Know I promised not to gripe about Med Co any more but it's gone from bad to ridiculous! Now companies tell me I have NO coverage for prescriptions at all. Funny how the card's in front of me and they're taking the money each month for same! Anyone have a "Philadelphia Lawyer"? I'm almost past being able to deal with it. DH is threatening an actual lawyer at this point. Hate to even think of going that route. :|

Had a lovely time at Disney on Saturday with dh and dd. Nice to leave dgd behind. DD is investigating a school in GA that's she's heard about recently. Could be the answer (she says hopefully).

Went to church yesterday afternoon, lunch with dd & dh, took a nap and then dd and I went to Wally world for some groceries. DSIL became sicker and sicker as the day went on and is home today. My guess is -the flu. None of them get flu shots.

DH wants to go for a walk so will join him shortly. Have a good day.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Our bulbs under our palm trees are blooming like crazy right now. They usually wait until March. If we get a cold snap they will all be lost.

I've been busy printing off 2012 payroll information. I'd checked before and it wasn't available. It's time to submit Jan taxes and I didn't have the info to figure.

I've added my big project to my daily schedule and that's changed things a lot. I have to keep a firm grip on myself not to slip back into rest-in-front-of-the-tv mode instead. I don't miss the tv as much as I miss the rest. It's mental rest, not physical mostly. I find I'm mentally exhausted at the end of the day now, but also I find myself sleeping deeper. It's just the same as if I'd physically exercised. I find that interesting.

Ok, back to my desk chores.

OKay, I'm glad you got checked out and got some meds. Maybe now you'll get better.
Dee, I'd say at the very least you should send some sort of threatening, legal-sounding letter announcing future lawyer, etc., with documentation of moneys being taken out and copy of card, etc. Mail to someone high enough with authority to do some good.

Dh is feeling better. Not 100% but able to go to work. When he had went to the dr. earlier in the month, his bs was up. The dr. told him to come back in April for a recheck. I had intended to take it after his last bout with this virus and hadn't. I was beginning to think he is diabetic and that is why he can't recover. So I took it this morning and it was 97. So thankful to see that number. I had recently read that in some people, diabetes is brought on by a virus. Anyway, I hope he is on the road to a full recovery after 3 bouts of this.

Today I am running a few errands. Then I will work at the other house. If at all possible, I want to be finished tomorrow. I would like to start Feb. with a clean slate, so that I can concentrate on this house 100%.

Yesterday dh painted the ceilings around the ceiling fan opening and then when they dried, he put the ceiling fans up. The first one went great. The second he had a terrible time with. The first time he put it up, it wasn't level. So down it came and that was corrected. The next time, he was putting the last screw in and he dropped it and it when in the fan opening at the top. He had to take it down again to get screw out. Once he was done, I told him to go home and rest. His frustration was driving me crazy.

After dh came home, there was a phone call from one of my classmates. He told her I would call her back. Our 40th class reunion is this year and she is in charge of updating everyones information. She said that she started on Saturday and after 3 hours, she had made 2 phone calls. She said she soon realized that she needs to make the calls briefer than that. After we hung up, I called and made our hotel reservations. The weekend of the reunion, there is a big event going on and so classes like to have their reunions then. Trouble is, there are only 4 hotels.

Well I better get to clicking!

I'm up and moving but slowly. I need to move More, More, More!

The kitchen is tidied up and I'm working on the Sunday chores now.

I'm waiting for chair of the church board to come and sign documents for me.

Got a late start today; kids don't have school so I slept in. S and R were at our home until 11:15 last night; i went to bed at 10:45. I was falling asleep in my chair! R didn't even get here until 10:15; he has been swamped at his work.

My a.m. routine is done. I'm working on a menu plan for the week + groc. list. I'll be heading to the groc. store soon. Dh and i are bringing the van in this afternoon to have the transmission rebuilt. We decided we would see if that would help the van to live another 2-3 years. Then, we'll look into purchasing a new vehicle. Dh would like to be able to do without a van; i think we'll still need the space, even in 2-3 years. I can't imagine car trips with 5 adults/teens in a smaller vehicle, especially since we like to go on trips that require lots of gear, like camping/backpacking trips. And we like to bring Pepper along when possible, so we'd need room for an extra canine body. Of course, it is possible the kids will vacation with us less as they get older. . . . Plus, wherever kids end up in college, I imagine we'll need space to haul their stuff to and from dorm rooms.

Anyhow, we'll be down to 2 cars for the remainder of the week, which will be tricky. it is helpful for ds to have a car to use b/c he has so many extracurricular activities, and I'm not keen on driving him around. We'll work it out.

There was another death in our church, this time a young man (24yo) died of an accidental drug overdose. Dh and I will try to go to the visitation this evening.

I also need to find out about dd16 and dd13 enrolling in an acrylics painting class; the info says for 10th grade and up, but we'll see if they'll take dd13 anyway.

Good morning! Last night I got all the stuff on my list done. The main things were Quicken update, grocery shop, and laundry. I also managed to get myself a real dinner instead of cereal - I went to Schlotskys and had a turkey bacon club and a cookie. I think all my tax info has come in, so I need to get an appointment. I hope I don't hit alternative minimum tax, my situation will be weird this year because of the divorce. The check for the house money went to XDH's address, so that is no longer a worry. I also need to figure out what to do with that money - put it into current house, invest somehow? Need an appointment with the financial advisor.

Today at payroll, I will be updating yet another document and looking at some data tables. Tonight I need to do more laundry and some sewing. Also, I need to make sure I eat. Strange world when feeding myself is listed as a major daily accomplishment. Living alone is hard.

Helia I agree that you'll need a van at least until you are down to one at home. And don't forget Christmas and holidays when the others will come back home, usually with a friend in tow. We had no choice but to rent a second car this Christmas because we don't all fit into one anymore. Taking two cars places seems extreme but it is actually better than owning a larger vehicle than we need 51 weeks of the year.

You are lucky to have three vehicles to start. We only ever had two. The culture for teens to have their own car isn't as strong here as it is at in the US. Even out here where there is not transit, not every family with teens has a third vehicle.

I got the papers signed and ready to be mailed.

I still haven't heard what is going on with music for the funeral. We've rebooked choir practice for Friday evening and if someone else is playing the music at the funeral, our church musician will sing in the choir with us. But she might end up playing.

Need to get my lunch done so I can concentrate on papers.
