Good morning, SHEville!

It is time to take stock and see what you can do to feel productive today.

After my meeting last night I had one of those spurts and got the Tuesday chores done and a desperately needed load of laundry washed. Dh hung it up for me. This morning, when I went to reach for a silky undershirt and realized I was down to my last one, I was pleased to think the remainder are waiting on the drying rack.

So even a short burst of productivity can bless you and your home.

Remember, One Card At a Time was one of P&P's tricks to making progress. It doesn't (and can't really) all get done at once, but we can continue to move forward.

I assured the little boy that was here last night that today would be a 'snow day' (school buses don't run but the school remains open.) His mom scoffed (mainly because she can't manage to have him home with her job) but they are canceled near his place (not exactly sure which school board he belongs to.)

Around here, the buses are running but it is slippery. It was another night of freezing rain. It will warm up today and we're due for rain, hopefully after it warms up so there will be no more freezing rain. At least we only have to go as far as the next village but we have a lot of running around to do there.

Yesterday, if you had told me someone had jacked up my car and swapped bald summer tires for my winter tires, I would have believed you. It was a tough drive home from the city. Stopping/slowing was almost always okay but pulling away from lights was fishtailing and going around corners was really spooky.

I did go through one red light right after it changed because I didn't think I could stop, but that wasn't dangerous because no-one was pulling away fast in the other direction because they couldn't. The cars in front had slowed down dramatically going through light and so I was concentrating slowing myself and didn't notice the walk signal stop flashing (our clue that the amber is about to come) so wasn't prepared for the amber, therefore couldn't stop but was going slow enough that I couldn't clear the intersection before it turned red (and may have entered on the red, I'm not sure because at that point all traffic on the opposite side of the intersection had come to a complete stop and I was worried since I had just given a boost of gas because of the amber and now wondered if I had to come to a complete stop.) Still not sure why the traffic stopped on the other side of the intersection, that was a 5 mile stretch of open highway with no buildings along it so no reason for traffic to stop after getting through the light.

Anyway, I don't have to drive today, it is dh's turn.

Before 9:45 I have to:

breakfast
devotions
print off a document
make a loaf of sandwiches
practice a couple of songs

I'm moving slower on the treadmill today for some reason but at least I'm on it.

Now to get my morning blog reading out of the way before it is time to get off because I have to hit the ground running after my time is up on here.

No snow in sight here. We are supposed to get into the 40s today and tomorrow. Yesterday, we got up to 54! I'm loving this - but wondering when/how we'll pay for it. Averages, you know. . . .

Warning - mommy brags: End of semester gradese are in, and kids continue to be awesome little scholars. Dd13 has 4 classes with semester percentages at 100% - 104%, including core classes of physical science, algebra, and English! It is just middle school, but we are still very proud of her! She aced the math final without studying too much. Ds and dd16 are also maintaining stellar GPAs, though by the skin of their teeth; both got an A- this semester, but in opposite areas. LOL! Ds' is in his college level humanities course, dd16 in her math course. --Thank you for letting me share. You don't have to read if you don't want, I'm just tickled and wanted to tell someone. This is not the kind of stuff I can share with just anyone, but this seems like a safe place.

TOday, is Hebrew class. I'm going to take the bus since my van is still in the shop. I checked the dates on the schedule this time.

Post and run.....Decent day at work yesterday, got time entered for the last week and a half and I'm a little ahead of last year on hours, which is good. Also emailed dmom's doc with info about one of her meds and w form for disability tag for car for when someone else drives her.

On delegation: I've asked dh the last couple of days if he was heading anywhere near the mall so he could drop off our vacuum cleaner to see if it can be revived....finally he said he would take it today. He ends up all over with appointments so it would be a lot easier for him to drop it off than for me to make a special trip. Also delegated to him to get me more Starbucks instant iced coffee - it's really very good and works well to have at work now and then as a treat. Starbucks is across the street from his office and he ends up going in many days.

I ate well yesterday w/o overdoing - cereal and banana breakfast, Sweet Peppers deli BBQ shrimp wrap (520 calories) and a fruit salad, snacks at work of 12 almonds and a boiled egg, and dinner last night take out - not the healthiest choices but dh picked up, and I had smallish portions of veggie lasagne and broccoli casserole. No fast food, no pizza, so I'm feelin' good about that.

Today is work again and lunch out for two tax dept birthdays. I need to add a sentiment to a card for one of the BD cards - just pulled some from my stock instead of making.

I was on my way home last night at 6:30 before I remembered the meeting last night that started at six. It wasn't obligatory and this committee kind of drives me crazy (and the chair does as well sometimes....) so I don't feel bad about missing.

More positive kind of morning. I won't be at work on time today; I'm trying to get in the habit of getting there earlier (closer to starting time of 8:30) so when I'm working longer hours I'll get an earlier start. So it's off to the races.....

Congrats Helia and kids - good for them and we all love to hear how well the village kinder are doing. You're entitled to a Mom brag!

Wow, Kathryn, it seems like you have had a lot of freezing rain lately. I just hate freezing rain. It is more dangerous than anything else.

Today I will be working at the other house. I wanted to clarify that the house wasn't filthy, I am just cleaning every surface, down to and including, cleaning the light bulbs. I want that place to sparkle. It is on a busy street, which is a negative, so I am hoping the cleanliness of the house, will help the right person overlook that.

Better go and get ready for the day. I make sure that I am cleaned up and ready to go, in case dd2 wants to get a cappacino after she drops the boys off. If she doesn't, then I can get on to my agenda for the day.

Be careful, Kathryn! Freezing rain/ice is scary. Here we are dodging big fat drops of rain (remember Forrest Gump?) Yeah...
Maybe we'll get a flash flood warning & come home early. (Talk about positive thinking... )

Helia, congratulations on being the mother of 3 scholars. We are glad that you can share this with us.

Lilac, you are right, we've had a lot of freezing rain. On the plus side, you don't shovel it. But that is too small a plus side for all the downsides (dangerous driving, walking, no snow for skiing or snowshoeing, and it is hard on the trees.)

I'm not dressed and I have practiced singing yet but the rest of the list is done. It cost me $14 to make 8 ham and cheese sandwiches. Not including the butter. I can make two large veggie platters with dip for the same amount of money so I won't complain about doing that ever again. My church knows I don't 'do' sandwiches - the second church hasn't learned that from me and I could have kept my mouth shut and just attended the funeral but I wanted to do something. Besides, now there are ham and cheese sandwiches for dh to enjoy at the lunch after.

Dd2 didn't need me to go with her to get a cappacino. The 2 little ones are home with dad. But could I watch them at 11, so that she can go eat lunch with dgs6? The boys will go home with their stepmom after school, so they can go to church tonight. So I won't have to be home at 3:30 to be here when dd2 comes to get them. So there went my uninterrupted time to clean. Oh well. I guess I better head over there, because I need to be back here in 2 hours.

Thanks for your kind words and indulging me in my proud moment. I know there are many scholars among us. This board is rife with brilliant minds, directly posting here and in our families. And I know there are those other moments too. One woman once described it as, "One moment my child is Einstein, the next Daffy Duck." So true. . . .

I've gotten 15 more lines of Hebrew done. We have never gotten more than 8 done in a class this semester, but you never know. . . If the prof stopped going off on tangents (very interesting ones too!) we would get through a lot more. So, I want to get a few more lines done just to be safe.

Dh has a nerve-wracking meeting re: one of his students at noon. I hope it goes well for him. . . .

I'm going to take a break from Hebrew now and brush my teeth and make my lunch. Then, I'll squeeze in another line before heading to the bus stop at 10:40.
