Sadie - BTDT on doing the right thing but not having the results turn out correctly. But there have also been those times when I thought things didn't turn out right, only to discover much later how well they did turn out. Not sure that makes sense..... Just sending you encouragement to hang in there especially when things are bumpy. (((Sadie)))

C2C - How are your children doing? Hum.....thinking.....they probably aren't the same age as they were the last time I saw them. The older ones might not be classified as children now. GULP! Time passes fast! Are you homeschooling them again? I seem to remember them attending a private school for a while. I'm doing about an hour a day with LO where we sit at the table and do our "school" together. It's more about having fun than learning at this stage (3 years old), but I have been amazed how much he has learned in a short time.

Funeral and luncheon is done. I just had to drop off food, not serve or clean up. The funeral went fine. That church is without a custodian at this point and the downstairs bathroom had little toilet paper, no-one had gone over this morning to turn on the heat and other little things needed attention.

The minister turned the heat on when she got there, I knew where toilet paper was so took care of that and handled the little things as they came up - like telling the ushers we needed chairs put into the sanctuary because all the seats were full (they were greeting but not ushering) and running off 40 extra bulletins because we ran out 15 minutes before the funeral was to begin. I was doing all that running around in a choir gown so got quite warm and made quite a sight.

I made sure to point out to board members that something has to be done about the custodian situation, expecting volunteers to fill in is fine but there has to be someone overseeing it all. And that someone won't be me, it isn't my church. (Although I got in trouble for saying that today - but it isn't my church, I'm not a member and I don't attend services.)

Visiting at the luncheon went very well, it was a delightful time. I just didn't get enough to eat. So I'm having 'snacks' now. As is dh which is weird because he doesn't usually eat lunch.

Dh's smart phone works at the church (I got him hooked into the wifi system there) and he found out while waiting for the service to begin that he landed a job in Virginia in March. So 10 days after we get home from our cruise, he will be heading out again. I'd love to go with him because the work is in the Blue Ridge Mountains but I have too much on at church at that time. Actually, dh will be in trouble because he'll miss Memorial Hymn Sing Sunday.

Dinner tonight is unplanned at this point. I had thought of going to the pub but I don't want to spend time away from home since we were gone until 3 today.

Better late than never -getting here. I've been so wrapped up in trying to unwind the Med Co fiasco that I've done little else. That and the fact I started getting ill Monday night. Appears to be a kidney infection. I'm on sulfa and aceteminophen and just not feeling too perky.

I think, I THINK we may have worked out the Med Co problem. The supervisor I've spoken with knows me by first name now, we've talked so much. Ended up contacting dh's company from which he retired. Think we have it ironed out. My main concern was having enough of my diabetic meds -have enough for about a week. She's expediting those. Everything has been transferred back to our old prescription ID number -so hope that goes well. We will see.

DD's making chicken wing dip for dinner. Sounds good to me. Also have salad to go with it. She's planning to take dgd to youth group at a nearby church tonight.

DS-R called last night to ask what he could use to 'grease' a pan. Seems they were going to his in-laws tonight for a birthday and ddil was to make brownies. She had Honor Guard detail at a funeral after work and so he was trying to get them made so she wouldn't have to. How sweet he is!

I've got dgd napping now she fell asleep while I rocked her watching daffy duck , took advantage of that and was going to walk but my foot was hurting so claimed the cave - basement long enough to get on the exercise bike. It's still raining out so I did not mind doing indoor exercise today.

Lunch is done. We are having pigs in a blanket for dinner did not get that done for lunch like I'd planned but granny duty had me a bit busy.

Found discovery channel TV on line and world's toughest trucker h. watched that on my pc when he got up it's not aired here yet so he was happy as a clam!

I did calendar work. First I changed all the calendars to this month (I have a lot of calendars in the house - almost a dozen.) Then I worked on the menu plan for Feb and March (since I have 2 half months. That took me to the basement to confirm the freezer contents. The freezer is getting quite empty, which is a good thing. We are doing better about eating our way through things.

Dh is getting the pizza now so I'll get the kitchen computer up and running so we can watch something while we eat.

I think dh is going out tonight to visit his friend. This friend broke his knee in December but it took 6 weeks for a diagnosis and since it had been knitting itself together all that time, it was decided not to do anything. Then 3 days ago, he fell on ice outside the bank and broke the same knee again. This time the system will operate. They offered to admit him to the hospital to wait for surgery but he chose to go home. We think that was a mistake (out of sight, out of mind) but we'll see. Anyway, he can't drive for at least six weeks after surgery and we're annoyed we'll be away so we can't help. At least his wife works at home so she can drive him into work each day but since I go into the city once a week, I could take 1/5th of the turns and not burn much more gas.

Now -- must flip the laundry and get back to work on school stuff. DH & ds are at basketball game.

Tonight was a good time together with DGS16, GF, DGS14, LO, DH and myself. I'm always wishful to do more.

DDIL called and said their offer was accepted on new-to-them home. They will be moving 2 doors down from where they currently live. They are thrilled because the floor plan is better for their life style and it is bigger than their current home (I think about 2000 sq ft bigger). They love their neighborhood and had no plans of moving until this house went into a short sale status. The greatly reduced price and floor plan was enough incentives to go through the hassle of moving. They offered to sell us their home at about 1/2 of what it is worth. Maybe some day we will move near them, but it's not possible now.

We have a lot of calendars, too, Kathryn. Not a dozen... maybe 4... plus the one I keep in my purse, and the one dh keeps in his nightstand... so 6 altogether, I think.
WTG on the menu planning. Maybe someday... when I retire... but not likely (partly b/c dh is just not a "plan what you eat" type person... which explains a LOT of things around here, actually.)

Hope all goes well w/dh's meeting, Harriet. IKWYM re: being "antsy" when spouse is facing frustrating times/unknown agendas.
Sounds like you had a very good doctor's visit. Nice to have everyone on the same page and all doing so well to keep you OUT of surgery if at all possible. (Since dmom's experiences, I am VERY wary of surgery.)

I've got to get busy w/school stuff. Second load of laundry in. I hear it thundering a bit.
We will be gone all afternoon/night tomorrow... then a 7:15 a.m. faculty meeting Friday morning! Ugh. I think ddil has decided to make the trip after all, and I am very glad of that -- partly b/c I do enjoy her company, and partly b/c I was so concerned that I hurt her feelings. So I think that is going to work out okay.
