Gallivanting Thursday

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

In honor of Lucylee who is off gallivanting today.

If you are off gallivanting, you can add your name to the list.

Although, if one is gallivanting, by definition, they won't be here to add their names to the list!

I'm up and on the treadmill. I'm typing at 3.5 mph which introduces far more typos (both finger and brain slips) than at 3.1 mph.

There, the song was over, so I've slowed down a bit.

Today I'll be struggling not to gallivant. I want to be focused. Don't know what magical method I need to use to stay on task.

First I need to get through my morning routine efficiently - exercise, make bed, tidy room, s2s, breakfast, devotions, light therapy. Then out the door at 9:30.

When I get home, which I hope will be by 11:30 if I'm focused in the church office, I'll need to get to work on my paperwork.

Edited to add first distraction: the toner is out at the church office and apparently there isn't another one in the cupboard. That means I'll have to mess with the cartridges to see if I can get them to print a few more copies by covering over the indicator with black tape, or drive to the nearest Staples (10 miles away) and pay 2x as much. I will charge the church for mileage if I have to drive because I have no personal errands to run and no time to run errands even if I did go.

I didn't see Kathryn's topic until just now. I think we were posting at the same time!! My title for today was "Thirsty Thursday," although I will be gallivanting about today.

Thirsty Thursday is not a very creative subject title, but it IS Thursday, and I woke up very thirsty today! :) Are you drinking enough water? I have a hard time doing that. For some reason, my body doesn't feel thirst very readily. Maybe you're thirsty for something else, like rest or a better ordered home. I know we are not in complete control of what comes into our lives, but what can you do today to quench your thirst, whether a physical or a metaphorical thirst?

I thought about you ladies last night but couldn't get back here. Dh and I took the girls to church youth group, went out for coffee, and then picked them up. Once home, I needed to drop off a commentary at a friend's house. He is going to lead our small group this Saturday. It was almost 10 by the time I got back home, and I needed to deal with a couple emails re: moms group business.

I echo MT's sentiments and wish you all were just around the block. I still hold out a small hope of an IRL "reunion" scenario someday for the women on this thread, but I don't think that is highly realistic.

Dh took the older 2 to school and is heading on to his office afterward; their school is close to north campus here. I'm going to take dd13 soon. D (not dear) Pepper made a mess last night. Grrr...... She was fed too late last night. SO, I need to clean that up and s2s before heading out the door with dd13. Moms gorup is this a.m. Dinner crew + book club are tonight. Picking up ds and dd16 at 2:40, picking up dd13 at 4 and taking her to her oboe lesson at 4:30 to be home finally around 5:35 are happening this afternoon. I should have an hour or two somewhere this afternoon to work on household chores.

I hope you all have a great day!

PS Dh's nerve-wracking meeting yesterday had a positive outcome! We are thankful; it had become a matter of prayer.

I hope HRH's meeting likewise went well.

A friend told me yesterday in an email that she thinks I have the gift of encouragement! Apparently, I have encouraged her in many ways at the moms group - without my even knowing it. That was a very uplifting email! I never thought of myself as having that gift.

Helia, that is wonderful news about the positive outcome from your dhs meeting.

MT, I can understand your feeling of wanting to get back to your house and leave the lot in your rearview mirror. That's how I feel about the other house.

Kathryn, I am looking forward to your cruise commentary. How soon do you leave?

Guess I better get busy so that I can run errands, buy groceries, get my hair trimmed and work at the other house.

Well... I feel very honored to have inspired our topic title today.
I can't gallivant until after lunch. I'm working until 11:30, then have to go to post office & bank, then home & we'll leave shortly afterwards.

Helia, I'm so glad your dh's meeting went well, and likewise -- hoping for good report from HRH's situation, too!

Good morning to Lilac & Kathryn & all to come later!

It's going to be a long next 72 hours. I was up until almost 2:00 a.m. (b/c dh didn't get in until after 1:00 a.m. -- I think I told y'all he & ds went to college basketball game). Tonight will be another late one, then tomorrow morning -- 7:15 a.m. faculty meeting.  Saturday I really MUST spend some time w/dparents, so will not be able to lie around and sleep all day then... and Sunday morning begins our new 9:00 a.m. traditional service. * Whew * I will sleep after that, though!!!
(Of course, I sleep extremely well in the car, so it's not like I'm going to be at some terrible hardship while en route this evening. ;) )
See y'all later!
Tomorrow is another day.

Elizabeth is gallivanting - I'll add her name to the list. She said she would see us again Friday.

I am happy to say I'm NOT. :D I did that yesterday and I'm quite through with overpasses and freeways thankyouverymuch. I was away a full 3.5 hours for that one appt so distant, and that's why some things about yesterday's bedroom weekly may be tidied up today - I just ran out of time at home.

It's Desk Day here - changed about because last week on Friday Desk Day, DPC-return calls were having to wait over the weekend, which prolonged the misery, LOL. So bathrooms are pushed back a day and we'll see how this tweak works out. I remember years ago Thursdays being suggested for our Desk Days because Thursday newspapers used to have so many food coupons. I'm not sure that's even true any more, and really I don't clip any more either - not regularly.

I liked helia's topic about water, too, of course. Enjoyed this photo-article Surprising Reasons to Drink Water with info from Duke University Integrative Medicine. Several things I hadn't known.

Well, maybe I'll gallivant through some tax returns today, my "inventory" of work is increasing. We actually start our longer hours next week.

OMM for today:
gallivant through Walmart for some groceries after work
gas up my car for trip to K-town tomorrow
at home, clear the "stuff" off the treadmill so it could be used
Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better [wo]man. Ben Franklin

Good morning, villagers ~
No gallivanting for me today!

I have a huge stack of mail to process and a few DPCs to make. :P
Also want to finish laundry, clean the kitchen, and do pantry and freezer inventory.

I'm not sure which is worse -- Lucylee's early morning faculty meeting or my Friday evening staff meeting. Well, yes, I do know. At least Lucylee can get hers over with first thing and then enjoy the rest of the day. I have to spend all day tomorrow dreading the meeting, which doesn't start until 5:45 and sounds like it will last a couple of hours.

I finally asked last week what was on the agenda, since the only communication I'd had about the meeting was seeing a note by the time clock that said "Mandatory Meeting Feb 3 at 5:45." (Nice communication methods, eh? ) Apparently there will be major announcements about changing staff schedules and duties, as well as finally telling us plans for the building expansion.

Then I can spend the weekend thinking about whether or not it's time to retire from this job.

Oops, the dryer is buzzing, time to move!
