TUESDAY TREND

Post by DeeClutter »

What trend are your trying to build? For me, I'm trying to get up and at 'em earlier. Did well today after a pretty good night (for a change).

Yes, things go on with dgd, Harmony. Her counselor was here yesterday and dd told her (counselor), "I just can't do this any more". Of course she is, but she's worn down and dgd has only been home 12 weeks yesterday. I just finished re-doing the dishes that she did last night. They were done in such a manner that I'm not sure any of us wanted to eat off them right away. But at least she did them -FINALLY, albeit in cold water, etc, etc. She decided that everyone should wash only what they dirtied. Wonder how that works? :? I'm rather dreading the 5 days that dh and dd will be away. (Feb 22-26). But I'll survive.

Today I will make a very DPC. I'm waiting until 11am to see if anything at all changes online on the Med Co site. Then I'll call the supervisor and have her look at her end of things. I'm beginning to think we have lost all prescription coverage -then why are we paying several hundred a month, asks I?

I'm whining aren't I. Sorry. I'm just so horribly frustrated!

DH went for his walk, but I stayed so I could do dishes and a few other things. Have to have him to school for a meeting at 1:30 and then I'll go pick up dgd13. (DD said last night how she wished dgd was anything like Harriet's dd). That's a compliment, Harriet.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Dee You aren't whining, you are bringing us up to date with what is going on and how you are feeling about all that is happening. You reported the facts and how they make you feel and, I in particular, am always interested in updates about your dgd.

The trend for me today is towards panic!

I'm up. Back is out so I'm limping badly. I think it might be the walk to the store yesterday - my boots aren't the best for walking long distances in so that might have pulled my back and left me sore.

I had to stop the treadmill because I refuse to work out while limping (I'm afraid I'll pull something else when overcompensating) so I spent that time going through the medicine cabinet and tossing expired meds. Long list of things to buy today, including motion sickness meds. I'm not leaving without at least 1 pill for every day of the cruise! I also have to get a script filled for Cipro in case we get a bad case of traveler's diarrhea (and buy more Imodium in case we have a minor case.)

I've started dinner in the crock pot and have done two loads of laundry. We leave in an hour so I'll put on a third load. Today, I'm not time-shifting our electrical usage - it will be low enough while we are away that I don't need to save the 50 cents or so by doing the laundry at night.

Good Morning all!!

I'm S2moccasins and have had breakfast and meds. First load of laundry is whirling. Bathroom is spiffed.

Next up is kitchen: Dishes, wipe counters, sweep and mop floor, shake rugs.

DEN PROGRESS: Table up, day bed cleaned off, 2 baskets emptied. A very long way to go.

We are waiting for it to warm up a little bit before we work outside so in the meantime I will go do the kitchen.

DEE: Is there anyone at DH's work that will go to bat for you with Medco? Since my DH's health insurance is from his previous employer, they have an advocate to work with retirees on matters like this. Don't fight the battles you don't have to. I would also tell any and all that you talk to that if you don't get your diabetes meds soon - you will think seriously about taking legal steps as they are jeopardizing your life - which they are. Oh! I wish I were closer to you so I could whisper in your ear while you are talking to them.

Good Morning!

I am up and packed for an overnight stay to have Special Time with DGS5 (and his family). LO will stay here with DH and be his "helper"....said in a bight optimistic tone. :) I told LO that I was going to do something and I would be back on Wednesday. I didn't tell him where I was going because it would break his little heart to not go play with DGS5. If LO ask me directly, I won't lie to him....but I don't want him to be upset while he is not feeling good if it isn't necessary.

Last night I took DGS16 and DGS14 bedroom apart. I'm giving them the curtains, comforter, bed skirt, sheets, pillow cases and shams to use at their home. There are items that they selected for their beds in our home, but they need them more at their home. I am going to redecorate that room and this is a good time to make a change. LO is quickly outgrowing his toddler bed so he will be moved up to a twin size bed during this redecorate effort.

Boodsaver - the humidifier is a great idea to use. Thank you for reminding me! I sometimes forget to do the simple things - DGS16 GF recently reminded me that LO should be taking extra Vit C while he is sick. BONK!! I hadn't thought of that so I picked up some EsterC Vit C gummy bears for him to take. I have been running the humidifer non stop since the first part of January. Wonder if I' am forgetting to do something else to help LO get over this? hum....

Good morning everyone! I finished everything on last night's list except for put away some things so the maids don't lose them. Guess that will have to be tonight, which is also Girls' Night Out with DD9. It will probably be Girls' Night In again, as there are more things she wants to paint. Today I need to do more flowcharts, fax the financial info, and call DD's school.

OKay, put a happy card in the snail mail to LO as you leave so that it comes to the actual mailbox and alert dh to let LO help get the mail. That is an idea I have used in the past with encouraging results. I think it would be fine to characterize this visit as "helping Uncle ___", which is exactly what you are doing. Also, impress upon LO how much it means to dh to get to have extra time with him.

Dee, of course I know what DD is saying but of course I KNOW, because she is a teacher of similarly aged children, that she's aware the thirteen year old here would have faults one could enumerate down an arm-long list. She deserves the ordinary as a parent, but she is continually pressed to deal with the difficult. Any one given day she could do it with one hand tied behind her back, because she's not only a great mom, she's a great professional teacher with smarts under her belt. It's just that she doesn't get any ordinary times as breaks, bless her heart - it's 24-7 worry, I'm sure, interspersed with big-time upsets.

A lot of the good-old-ordinary parenting style has to do with being able to instantly switch over to an ultimatum, or a nag, or a guilt-ridden monologue :) , whatever reinforcement is needed, while still remaining the loving parent in the (very put-upon, possibly pouting) child's eyes. And yet, while the rest of us can do that without pondering too hard, DD has to pull her punches, always having the much bigger picture in mind, like a chess game, making sure she doesn't trigger worse behavior, or cause her daughter to have a harder life. I think she's AMAZING to have been able to give her child all that she has. Your dsonil, too, who has probably been a God-send to dgd, to have a stabilizing father's presence in the home.

We are back from the MRI, which was tougher than I thought. To say it was noisy is to say a hurricane is blustery! LOL! If it WERE a wind, it would knock you down! Dd barely moved her head (MRI is of the knee) and caused the technician to stop everything and start over. Sigh. It's a surprise to me how absolutely still you must remain. She was stiff and nervous with a flighty stomach afterwards - I wonder if she was scared to breathe and held her breath too much. They gave us a return-to-school slip, much appreciated, so that she will be excused. Rushed back home to help HRH, who has never handled my ddad's early mornings by himself. He did fine, but had no breakfast himself, forget to let the hens out, etc. LOL. He needed a bit of rescue, but everything's fine.

The Realtor called yesterday said she was going to get a key made so h. has a door key again.
That lock box is still on the rail I asked for it to be moved down out of the way. I told her where to put it in case we were gone.

I'm hoping the trend for me to get back on the cleaning wagon again continues now that I've started to feel some what better now my ear was draining yesterday; also h. did some shredding and made more progress on that. Trash day here got that out to the curb.

Granny duty today picking up dgd from pre-school and returning pens to exchange for a pack of them that are all good hopefully today later on.

I just made a yummy dinner baked acorn squash it’s been around here long enough to turn yellow with frozen veggie mix and turkey sausage made in to meat balls it was yummy and a nice change. Our dear grand daughter helped me to clean the seeds out of it She really likes to do that she’s such a helper.

I have a new book going called Homestead by Jane Kirkpatrick it is About when they build a home in the 1970’s along the John Day River There was no power water and barely a road in to the land they got. Adventures with a plane, dump truck back hoe and other equipment while building Makes this a great book for anyone! I’m enjoying this read.

Hello all! I'm sorry - I haven't properly cuops but thought I'd pop in. ((Harriet's dd13)) I hope it is nothing too serious. We have several friends (young people our kids' ages) who have torn their ACL through participation in a variety of sports - gymnastics, soccer, basketball. That seems to be a common sports ailment, but I don't know if that is what is going on with your dd13.

My trend. . . running around town, it seems.

I had a haircut appt. at 10. Then, I picked up more chicken feed since there is a store not too far from the hair studio. I'm home now until 2:30, when I'll pick up ds and dd16 from school. Then, ds and I will head over to the neighboring village to pick up the van. That will take about an hour. I should be home in time to pick up dd13 from synchro. swimming practice at 4:30; they're practicing a little longer to prep for the upcoming show - which I will have to miss b/c they rescheduled it right during my Hebrew class next week. :x At some point, I need to get to Walgreens to pick up a refill of dd16's script and to Whole Foods for sturdy bread for dinner tonight. We will hopefully eat early so dh and dd13 can go to ceramics. Dd13 decided on the ceramics class over the painting class. She visited both last week.

I would like to get through 20 lines of Hebrew before class tomorrow. The prof will be out of town and will have one of his grad students teaching us, a woman. I'm guessing (but I could be wrong!) that she may be less easily led into tangential discussions, and we will get more done. 20 lines is my estimate as to how much we could get done if we actually spent the full 3 hours translating. 8 lines is more typical . . . Anyhow, I've gotten 5 done - 15 more to go. I'll see what I can get done between now and 2:30, though I'll be keeping laundry going too, but I suspect I'll be doing most of the translation work tonight.

I've got a pork roast in the crock pot cooking in. .. . . . root beer. It feels rather odd, to be honest. I have a friend who did this for bbq shredded pork sandwiches, and she swears by it. I found a "recipe" online and decided to experiment. Tonight's dinner will be fun - but not low cal: bbq pork sandwiches, sweet potato fries, salad. I'll need to be careful, trying to keep to my WW program. I need to get Whole Foods bread b/c the breads at the groc. store I went to yesterday are all too soft.

Hello Dear Ladies,

It a cloudy and dark day here, temps might reach into the 50's. I've got chicken in the oven and that takes the chill off. Like Okay, we've had a mild winter, and I think all of us keep waiting for a storm to hit sometime.

Sending hugs to ((harriet and miss harriet))

Congratulation by the way Harriet for the Kindle Fire. Welcome to the new age!

I've thought of getting a Kindle but am still using my Iphone for so many things, it is my constant companion. Helia I finally finished David Copperfield. I'm listening to Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. It seems so light compared to Dickens.

One of the problems we have had is that the yellow pages that are tied up with the telephone company didn't put our ad in this year. Some kind of computer problem that skipped us completely. DH was stressed as people will think he has gone out of business.

Am calling an alternative company today to get in their book. Actually two of their books. One is for our town and a nearby one. And the other is for an area that he has recently picked up some new business in.

The telephone company's yellow pages cover our town and a town in a different direction, it has our county offices there so DH got some business there. Alternative doesn't do a book for that area. Trouble is when elections come around and a new person steps in they start all over again contacting people for work and if he's not in the yellow pages, he might not get jobs. Think I will try to work off his customer list from over there and send some business post card, or business cards out.

We were also in a big city book too, which didn't get published either. And the alternative doesn't do the big city. I know there are other books for the area but the deadline has gone by for them.Think I will try sending cards out to that area, and maybe a newspaper ad too.

The alternative yellow page company sends out books to anyone with a mailing address. The telephone company only sends to people with land line phones so the alternative gets to more people in the area. Some people don't even have a land line so they wouldn't even see the ad from the telephone company.

So trying to stay positive for DH and I said who knows, this might be the best year yet.

Well that's one of the situations going on here.

Going to take a well deserved shower. Got my dailies done. :D
