I know what is for dinner tonight. I am eating at the church and will be having ham steak, green beans, and rolls. There is also cheesy potatoes, but I cannot eat cheese. Tonight I need to go to the grocery store and get empanadas materials, bring in trash, check mail, update Quicken, clear off a counter, and stock my work bag with peanut butter crackers for tomorrow. I also at some time need to get a check to XDH, I wish I had remembered yesterday. I am looking forward to my clean house, courtesy of the maids. I know FlyLady says you don't really need maids, but I do. Perhaps if I were better at following her program I wouldn't, but I don't like to clean toilets. See everyone tomorrow!

Elizabeth, I don't need a maid anymore (remember, I don't work outside the home) but I had one when *I* was a mess emotionally, and it really helped me not sink deeper into depression. When one is already floundering, one doesn't need additional, visual, reminders of what one isn't doing well.

Dinner is done. Not a success from the timing point of view because I forgot to start potatoes so the meat spent 15 minutes in the warming oven. But it tasted good. I also got a dozen muffins made (to use up the last egg - we'll take a couple on the drive with us and the rest we'll freeze.) While waiting for the potatoes to finish, I washed up all the dishes I had used so there is less for dh to wash up now.

After dinner, I cleaned out the fridge. The crisper drawers needed washing out so that is done. I have carrots and potatoes to go in there while we are away but other than that, we are now out of fresh veggies. I have cheese and bacon to freeze and then the meat drawer will be empty too. We opened the last quart of milk to top up my glass at dinner so that leaves enough for breakfast. I still have an apple to have either tonight or tomorrow.

Dh has started to pack. That makes me want to pack too but I'm really touchy so probably shouldn't go near him right now.

I just finished backing up my computer. I hated to do it before I finished the data entry but the odds aren't great I'll get it done tonight. I still have to write up the house-leaving plan to leave for the person checking the house daily. And send all the contact numbers to dd and ds.

group hug to all under the drum with lots going on.

Sending best wishes to Kathryn and Ken heading off soon. Glad you found some shoes.

a note about knees from a friend back in my younger days - not to sit on lower legs- tucked under.
Guessing thats not the deal for Mr Harmony but it may be something for Harriets dd.
a note to me re my elbow - not to twist about and lean on it.

Elizabeth -I totally understand needing a maid while you are busy.
Just begin.

LOL! Yes, I knew that fact but since it isn't something I would ever do, forgot it.

Packing is progressing, not particularly well, but progressing. I'm feeling unbelievably sick - sweaty, tummy upset, room spinning. This is all the norm for me when going away but I hate it with a passion.

Dh set up a camp table in the exercise room so that made room for the third suitcase to be packed at waist height. That was very helpful. We have split the clothes three ways so can survive even if 2 out of 3 suitcases don't arrive. Not perfectly, but there is a casual, semi-formal, and formal outfit in each suitcase. My dress sandals are in my carry-on so no matter what outfit I end up with, I'll have shoes. On the SilverSea cruise discussion board there was the case where someone going to South America didn't embark with their suitcase. It was a man and the crew found him formal wear but he only had his hiking boots to wear for the whole trip (the suitcase didn't catch up to him until their last port and, unbelievably, was lost on the way home as well!)

I'm down to packing the finicky stuff (meds, electronics, books.) I really want to take my study bible but don't think I'll have the room and it is too heavy for my carry-on bag. I have a travel bible and study notes on my computer, so I don't need it, I just like the notes it has better than my e-bible ones.

Just realized I haven't posted all day.

DH went to breakfast and then for a Rhino ride in the desert all day. It seemed strange to be home alone - but nice.

Got a lot more cacti dug, kitchen spiffed and footsteps erased in the living room.

Don't know how many people will be here tomorrow - but I'm almost ready.

Pastor will be here in the morning (around 10) so I have to work that in my schedule.

Headed to bed now. Niters.

Thank you, Lynlee, that fact about knees does affect DH. He does some stretches and range-of-motion things every day to ease morning stiffness, and he does sit on his legs that way sometimes. I don't think half the things he does is healthy for him, but he won't listen to me. Now I must find something on the net to validate the knee thing so maybe he'll take heed.

Harmony, if you read earlier my carefully spelled explanation :) , the upshot of that is that her knee hurts from the side of the knee that would touch the other leg into the interior of the knee because of the twisting/bending-backwards action of the injury. Don't know if that is similar or completely different for Mr. Harmony. Because you bring up Mr. Harmony, I remember dr saying today that men recover more quickly from hurting this particular ligament, simply because men have larger thigh muscles on that side of the knee.

Smiled at Elizabeth's potential thread title from her dream! Gee, I'd read that.

Norma and Cowinkie should be planning a get-together by now. Very cool. Tell each other "hello" from the village.

All best travel wishes, Kathryn and Ken.

Hi, sherinjoy!

I saw LisaB popping in earlier - hope she is just busy, what with lots going on in her life, and can post later. I remember once she had trouble posting and hope that's not going on any more!

Harmony - yoga has us sitting on our calves ( ) a little. But never leaves us sitting on our lower legs with a twist out to one side. I used often sit like that but try not to. instructor often says to tighten certain muscles (thigh muscles I think) to protect our knees when doing certain exercises. Remembering from tia chi ?sp) that soft knees are better than locked knees.
Also remembering the people who lose their legs from falling asleep or unconscious wrong on top of them and cutting the blood supply in a crush injury. Sometimes in the news. Happened to someone known to me.
Another reason not to sit in a heap like that - msg to me.
Shoes with souls that give help my heels and shins, and I believe they help knees as well.

I hope both sets of knees recover quickly. (((Harriets dd & Harmony's DH)))

Kathryn - that sounds really sensible packing you and Ken do. I know when I used travel I'd stow some things in carry on bag just in case ... and always meds in there.
Just begin.
