Re: Shrove Tuesday PWYC
Oh boy, wouldn't our homes and lives be greatly changed if we could give that up (procrastination), Lilac!
DH and I went to the casino yesterday for a few hours, had lunch and came home ($200 richer). He was supposed to go deep sea fishing but it was a little rough.
DH and DD leave tomorrow to go to the state TSA competition at Amelia Island (near Jacksonsville, FL). Leaves me home to tend to gd and dsil. Think I'll be tired and hopefully NOT drained by Sunday. Have to do a little shopping for them today before I pick up gd from school. Guess she and dd had a really good day (off) yesterday. DD needed a break. GD got in a lot of trouble at school last week so hopefully things will go more smoothly there now.
Have a load of laundry going and want to get it in the dryer before I take dh to walk.
Need to cuop from this weekend -perhaps while dh walks. Well, I walk a little but not the 3 miles he does.
BBL
A good thing for me to give up would probably be snacks of cheese.

Re: Shrove Tuesday PWYC
I was ready to start PWYC but didn't have a theme so I'm glad that Bittersweet is aware of what's going on around us!
I'm at work - doing well with the plan of getting to work earlier. Today I have to leave to meet regarding the house interior at three, and then get to the vet by six to pick up Moses. I'm thinking I'll set up our X-pen in the kitchen for him for a few days to segregate him from Macs and keep him on bedrest.
Vet mentioned that because it was a large tumor he will probably develop seroma, or a serum pocket, and she wants to have him on Acepromazine to keep him quiet and happy.
This morning on the radio someone mentioned the concept of adding something for Lent - for example doing a RAK (Random act of Kindness) daily for Lent. Altho I don't celebrate Lent, I thought this was also a great concept: http://goo.gl/SGxtM
One could establish a new habit through a Lenten "don't break the chain" habit?
On to work - I currently have 21 "tasks" or jobs assigned to me in various states of completion; some waiting for more info, some in prep, some that I need to get back to the reviewer with changes, and some that I'm procrastinating on! (Not really, they all have to be done but I am prioritizing according to due dates.)
Ooooooh. I need to bring some milk to the office for coffee - hate this dry "creamer" stuff.

Re: Shrove Tuesday PWYC
Good morning! Workers came - and then left again for another meeting or something. They'll be back.
I am up, s2s-ed, bed made, and kitchen reclaimed.
I didn't get as much done yesterday as I would have liked. Between the groc. shopping trip and prepping and bringing meal to dfriend, there didn't seem to be much left of my day. SO, today will be forging forward into Hebrew and teaching prep - and washing towels and hopefully working in dd16's room. Dinner will be leftovers, so I don't need to cook.
Lent: I've heard of it being done different ways: giving up something pleasurable or adding something good and/or giving up some bad habit. At this point in my theological life, I personally prefer giving up something pleasurable, though I think good theological arguments could be made for all options - and the lines between those approaches are blurred in many situations anyway.
I think the main point is to set up a physical reminder to cause you to remember/think certain thoughts throughout your everyday life. I'm not sure what I will do this year. I may give up chocolate. I may give up cheese - but that would be VERY difficult for me. I make a lot of meals with cheese. I may give up playing on the computer - that one is a blend of giving up something pleasurable and giving up a bad habit.
OK - it is 9:30. I need to finish my a.m. routine and get this day going for real. Kids are still in bed. I think my cold may be a tad better - or I'm just getting used to it. Wondering if it would be harmful if I went to the gym today?

Re: Shrove Tuesday PWYC
Morning everyone. MMMMMM pancakes! Is Shrove the same as Fat Tuesday? I'd heard it called that on the news today.
I hit the ground running today. Bedroom picked up again. I did some sewing. Had breakfast. I'm out the door to the bank with the stuff I took yesterday when they were closed. Been working in the office on some filing too. Got about half of that done so far.
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. At least here. I was hoping to see OKay to make sure she got through that awful weather yesterday.

Waiting for the kiddos to get here.
Tuesdays and Thursdays are my cleaning days, hope to accomplish alot today so Thursday I can work in the soon to be guest bedroom(Dson's old bedroom)
For lent I hope to give up snacking, hopefully a few pounds will be shed by doing so.
Twin...So happy Moses is doing well, and I am with you I dont like powder'd creamers, for that matter I dont like flavored creamers either.
DeeClutter..Where is a casino in FL? We enjoy a occasional trip to the ones here in St Louis, Dd never mentioned any being in Fl.
Off to erase the morning footsteps.
Have a good day.
Keep Smiling

Re: Shrove Tuesday PWYC
Good morning! A robin was perched in the tree outside my window this morning, the first one I've seen this year. Could it be spring???? Actually I think we have robins here the year round, but the first sighting is always fun.
It is going to be a nice day. I have errands to run so that is good. Also the laundry I didn't do yesterday is still waiting.....
Bernice, I don't like coffee creamers at all, especially in the morning. Coffee needs to be black and strong to get me going! Flavored coffee and creamers are OK in the afternoon, preferable with something sweet to eat.
Harmony, you are busy already. Are you a morning person?
Helia, hope your workers come back soon. Bathroom remodel, right? Exciting! (I love home improvement/remodeling.)
Twins' Mom, I hope you can keep Moses quiet while he heals. Easier said than done I'm sure.
Deeclutter, hope your weekend goes smoothly.
Bittersweet, can one give up procrastination permanently? That is at the root of my organizational struggles.
Need to eat something, too late to call it breakfast.

Re: Shrove Tuesday PWYC
It is going to be a sunny day here again. The sky is that wonderful AZ blue.
DH has the Rhino trailer all packed with branches and agave swords and tied down ready for a trip to the transfer station. I suppose I will have to go with him (ugh - want to stay home and play outside) I will try to get a picture before he leaves.
I did get one tote out of the den yesterday but not much was put away. I also was able to find an old sheet and take out all of the hems to use instead of canvas for the painting that is in my head. DH said he would make some stretchers for me out of some leftovers from making the bed.
Next up is breakfast - DH and I were up by 8 and both have S2BF.

Re: Shrove Tuesday PWYC
EN our weather is just the opposite here!
Coffee maker is on the fritz seriously considering giving up coffee or at least cutting way back on it here need to confer w/ h. about this.
Just thought of this
that would include creamer as well.
Trash day here I rounded the trash up and dumped it yesterday h. got it finished up and ready to go to the curb last night I took it out this morning in the rain. We have wind advisory later today and tonight here in our area.
I've loaded dishes in the dishwasher need to spiff the counters a bit more and mop the laminate and vinyl. Store run and pick up dgd from preschool later on today. Look for a coffee maker I want a smaller one or replacement pot for the one I have.

Re: Shrove Tuesday PWYC
HAPPY MARDI GRAS everyone!!! Yesterday I had really good intentions and did get a lot done, but I slept way too much, napping from about 10 to 2! I got my taxes nearly done, need a bit more info. I did a ton of cooking so I can start bringing my lunch to work (new austerity measure). I did minor cleanup and started removing the sealer on a bathtub in preparation for resealing it. I also had dinner out with a friend. Today at payroll, more flowcharts. I would love to finish the 38 pager. It is also Girls' Night Out with DD10. I need to pay some bills but I don't know if there will be time for that.
