To undertake resourseful washday monday
fill the copper with water, light the fire under it and tend that all day (Or did dm use hot water heated via wood stove system?)
keep little ones out of harm - while managing all else..
Beds would be stripped - in our house - top sheet to bottom, bottom sheet and pillowcases to wash
all washing gathered and washed in order - Now I guess whites would be first. dirtiest things went last.
boiler stick for fetching things out of the copper. Forgetting if they were put into a bucket to be carried to the laundry tubs all filled in a row for rinses. the hand turned rubber coated ringer attached to the last tub. Prior to that each item wrung by hand.
there would be "blue" added to the final rinse. ironing dipped in the basin of starch then drip dried
From the days mothers didn't need a gym for a workout.
We got electricity and a ringer washer when I was 7.
Laundry "blue" also used on bee and wasp stings added a little colour.

Today there is still high cloud, least no rain today. I need get onto washing.
Also just noticed the 2 weeks till easter - and possible visit from dgd for a few days during that break - so I will need get busy. Everything in that room washed, vacuumed and remade is my aim. curtains bedding to wash, vac all inc top of wardrobe not touched in years. And dust off the toys in there and the rest. The boxes will still be in their pile. I need to ring dd today to see if its still in the offering.
just turned on tv to see result ofPM tustle. Current PM by 2/3 of corcus vote. I'd often wondered if some of the leadup to this wasn't opposition posturing as timing was very off. I think this was about calling off the media beatup of continual stirring the pot. Maybe "it was things than needed to be said" and for more self - I do not know how much inhouse pot stirring was for real - or a beatup, or a degree of personal venting - "it did me wrong when I was dumped". Personally - I think he was getting past it from a few of his comments. Which party gets elected at next election is anyones guess. Statewise writing may be on the wall for our state govt. Just "the its time momentum" after years of this party being leaders - coming after too many years of the other mob.
Commentator just suggesting losers speech will be worthy of an oscar - best supporting actor in non leading role. We can laught at our selves. Listening - Its a good speech. But leadership is more than that. A concillaratry speech He does cover what hes done as (now resigned) foreign minester. Lots of thanks to that dept etc etc. family. But not person who had been agitating on his behalf. That says something to me. "done and dusted" says member. I think this will put the stirring to bed.
