New Deal Sunday

[bittersweet]

On March 4, 1933, at the height of the Great Depression, Franklin Delano Roosevelt is inaugurated as the 32nd president of the United States. In his famous inaugural address, delivered outside the east wing of the U.S. Capitol, Roosevelt outlined his "New Deal"--an expansion of the federal government as an instrument of employment opportunity and welfare--and told Americans that "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Although it was a rainy day in Washington, and gusts of rain blew over Roosevelt as he spoke, he delivered a speech that radiated optimism and competence, and a broad majority of Americans united behind their new president and his radical economic proposals to lead the nation out of the Great Depression.

I think that's what I need...a New Deal! Some sort of plan to get myself out of this utterly depressing mess my house has become. Step one is underway....to get the kittens out of here and up for adoption! Francis, Molly, and Sebastian left yesterday. Today, I'll contact the other rescue and see if they have any idea when a spot might be available (or if they might possibly have another foster who could take them in). I have GOT to have a break from all these kittens!!!

Right now, I'm going to finish this cup of coffee, then do the dishes so I can mix up a batch of chocolate chip banana bread. yes, it's ridiculously early, but I haven't been sleeping well on my days off, so I might as well make use of the time.

I visited my colorist 1st thing this morning. Having an hour to focus on coloring hair means doing it before LO wakes up.

DMIL has been taken to ER this morning. We are on stand-by. Should know something in the next hour or so.

Harmony, as I understand the path of the storm near your northern family, all was well for them and I'm so glad. However, the headlines about the poor family not all that far away, whose children were sucked out of the upstairs of their home is sobering. Little boy carried 350 feet and dropped into the middle of a multi-MULTI-lane highway. He is okay, but 2 little sisters, one also thrown far in a different direction and one found under debris, both still in hospital, many prayers for these little ones happening today. That poor mother and father.

Thank you, lucylee, for letting us know you are safe. I know that with the burdens on your family right now you truly didn't need weather fears as well.

Dd32's family has gone on a little earlier than usual, hoping to tour the zoo on their way home. DangerBoy surprised me with lots of reading - he is doing so well. All of them were showing off their Epcot/Disney shirts from their mother's seminar in Orlando. Little britches (20 mos) is a 24/7 handful. His ddad says, "He's a Ninja." Slippery, fast, gone. In trouble almost every waking moment. I did very well as the baby-sitter for all when dd and dsil went out to get us take-out dinner last evening, brushing up on my diapering-an-escape-artist skills!

Yesterday dd13 and I took the two older boys to see "The Lorax", which is an okay movie, far from the book, yet vivid and action-packed. I couldn't believe it, but the first matinee was completely sold out before we reached the ticket window, and the next matinee, for which we were in time for tickets, was almost a packed house before we were seated. I felt very sorry for folks milling around trying to find seats together with their children. So it is a very popular movie, I'd have to say.

In our little space of time to wait, we went across the "street" (it's a pretend mini-town that planning board calls a "multi-use development", retail below and lofts above) and had ice cream. The boys were very good listeners and hand-holders for the whole outing, and we had a great time. We used the facilities at the ice cream shop, so that the boys didn't have to be embarrassed going into a "ladies" bathroom! With so many little girls at the theater, that would have been very unhappy!

Up and about here, have read paper and lounged and had coffee. So glad for a quiet day today - may go see the house footings which were poured this week and will do some laundry and catch up here at home. Also a w-a-l-k for me and ddogs - must be spelled so we don't start a riot too early, lol. Also we need groceries....

Morning y'all

Enjoying my coffee while visiting the village. Have lol in washer and dryer. They should be ready for me in a while.

My day includes a trip to what Norma and I call our favorite girlie store (ultra) to get a hair cut. Then iwill drift over to Wally world to pick up some needs items. The. I will come home and do the Lucylee thing...grade papers. I have one mor week till spring break. Yippie!!! Then if the Gods see fit I will begin my retirement count down.

I bought plants and flowers last week, some which need to be planted, but I think I'll wait till next week to do it. They will stay happy as long as I keep watering them. Spring has arrived and the desert is beginning to bloom. I t is a beautiful day with temps are in the 70s

Norma and her dh joined us again last night for food and fun. We went to Sonic drive to enjoy a car show. Unfortunitly they will be heading home soon. I'm gonna hate that because we enjoy each others company so much.just imagine without this village our paths would never have crossed. Her dh and Sweetie have become best of friends and it is fun to watch the two of them

I think it's really cool that you and Norma and the dhs hang out together, Cowinkie. Makes me wish I could cross paths with more of our villagers more often, or even live closer.

Done with that round; dh had started laundry so I made the bed instead. Here's hoping there aren't any dark delicates in there.

We will head out in about 30 minutes, I think. I'm aiming for another round:
-start another lol
-refill meds containers
-"hot" kitchen counter
-grocery list
-figure out something for supper, and get needed ingredients onto list.

Church was w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l this morning. I had expressed my sorrow to DH a few days ago about the changes to the songs and how it has affected my worship. I was surprised this morning with the music portion of the service and said something to DH about it on the way home. It was then that DH told me that he had talked to pastor about the changes. I am sooo very thankful and appreciate the effort made.

LO is napping so I'm going to put my feet up and rest a bit before getting started again.

I was surprised that I just HAD to nap today. I thought I got enough sleep last evening to make up for several fast-moving days, but I guess not.

The dishes are washed up from today, the house is almost back to normal from the weekend, and I hate to say it but... ... we needs errands done. So dd13 and I will dash out. I'm a little worried about whether she has had time for school work, so that will need to be a priority when we return, along with one more for-school load of laundry.

Amused at Twins Mom spelling in front of dear dogs. ...To us. ... But then, they are VERY smart.

I need to get rolling. Dh and I went to new house - spent quite awhile there with some friends who met us there, then got quick Sonic lunch and groceries and finally home. I got in a nap. In a weak moment this morning, I also agreed that we would invite dneighbor for chili supper tonight, so I need to get moving...need to spiff up house a bit more also.

-get chili started
-start another load of laundry?
-take dMacs out and brush him since the poor baby won't get the w-a-l-k
-get two returns ready to go tomorrow

So far, I've done a LOT of napping today...not sure why...but apparently I needed the sleep. Other than that, I've done some knitting, and vacuumed about 80% of the foster room (that was supposed to have been done yesterday). Supper is planned, and I've done some work on the seed donation project. Now I'm taking a short break, and will knit for 15 minutes while I listen to my audio book. Then it's back upstairs to finish vacuuming the kitten room, clean off DH's desk, finish wiping the spatters on the wall near the litter boxes (gee, I just *love* having kittens some days!! ), and hopefully even finish the bathroom.

My ddogs could also use a w-a-l-k...with the winter weather here, they don't get out much while there's snow on the ground. However...the sidewalks are well clear enough now that I could take them out. I think I'll do that for my next break.
