Re: Tuesday Extraordinary Perseverance
I persevered running errands today after a routine dental appointment. Always glad to get out of there with an AOK--see you in 6 months report
. T arget refunded the difference in sale price on the cloth baskets & brown cubby I bought. The white one wasn't on sale. But every little bit helps, especially since my next stop was the gas station (
) to fill up. Ran into grocery store for some bananas & the rye bread dh likes, & made one more stop for cat food before heading home. After lunch I helped dh with some computer stuff & tried to motivate myself into going for a walk. No luck there.
Cats!! It was so nice to see you here yesterday
.
Thanks for starting us off today, Twins. The purple tulips sound so pretty. I've used Harriet's idea of tape at the top of a vase, but not for tulips. I wonder if tying a ribbon near the top of the stems would work?
Hi Bittersweet -- hope you are having a good day at work.
Hi Elizabeth -- good job on your sewing room progress!
Hi Harmony -- You work so hard most days it is nice that you had a quiet day today & also got to enjoy lots of time sewing
.
Hi Kally -- I've had good luck wrapping cats in a towel with just their head showing. Then you can either tuck him under your arm or hold him with your legs so your hands are free to give him the medicine. Good luck!
Hi Sadie -- I was hoping to see an update from OKay, too. Hopefully no news is good news, or just that there is no news yet.
Hi Sunny -- great idea to use the popcorn bin for dog food storage.
Hi Harriet -- if I bring garlic bread & a big salad can I stop by for some lasagna
? Glad you are having a calmer eldercare day today.
Dh is going out so I only have to make dinner for myself tonight. I'm thinking black bean soup or maybe just a bagel & cheese. I have a good 45 minutes of sunlight time left so I'm off to process the stack of mail here on the table.
Have a good evening, everyone!

Re: Tuesday Extraordinary Perseverance
Quick CI w / dgd in my lap.
Realtor tour is done.
H> is fishing.
I have granny duty and dgson might be here after school today for home work help we will see.
Errand day today back from today more later.
I have un-staged part of the deck b/c it was just too windy to leave stuff out there. Sigh not a good day for a walk shopping was it for today I think.
H. had a difficult afternoon the truck quiet on him would not restart w/out some working on it but he did get home some corrision, he was not a happy camper when he got home. ~Sigh~ He missed dgson being here.
But it went well dgson said it's fun to do home work here music to my ears as one of my goals is to make learning fun.

Re: Tuesday Extraordinary Perseverance
No writing from me today. No nap either.
Had an interesting but not amazing tour of Casablanca and then a quiet afternoon on the ship. Did get exercising in but we did it on board on the walking deck, rather than in town because it was too busy and too confusing there.
We lose an hour overnight (changing to European time) so get an hour less sleep. On the bright side, no tour tomorrow, just a lazy day to do what we want in Cadiz.
I'll write more tomorrow.

Re: Tuesday Extraordinary Perseverance
(OKay) I hope you enjoy your visit away. You need a break, I think.
Well, I took off for groceries and decided to look at the shoes first. Ended up all through the mall and one other store. This time they have all the spring shoes out, except for one store which seems overloaded with left-over boots. What were they thinking, this is Florida and it doesn't snow here and people do not wear boots!
Anyway, I didn't find any still. I'm looking for something that doesn't exist I guess. Something without 6" heels, dressy, flat or very small heels, no open toes (or just a little tiny peep hole there) and comfortable. Oh, and none of those new shoes with a tiny tiny bit on the top of the toes (are they trying to save material or what?) because those do not stay on my feet with my high arches. I wish T-straps would come back into style.
So after hours of trying on shoes, which always makes my feet extra sore, I came home with my groceries but no shoes. Sigh...... I'll never get to wear that skirt or 2 dresses I bought if I can't find shoes.
Meeting at church went well tonight. I have to laugh, when I read my minutes the ladies all murmur their approval and 'how do you do that, I could never do that' comments, ha ha. I guess I do have a talent for organizing a page of notes. I stopped at H-D on the way home with DH's returns he loaded into the car. I typed up tonight's minutes while everything was fresh in my mind and emailed a copy to our leader.
Dishes cleaned up, and I'm sure ready for bed now!

Re: Tuesday Extraordinary Perseverance
Harmony it truly must be spring shoe shopping days. Dd32 was amazed at the catalog footwear choices that were in my mail on Saturday when she checked it. There was the large Foo tSmart catalog (which I have never received before and don't know why I received then) and also in the Woman Within catalog this time there were 6 pages of shoes. The first part of the FS catalog is about 50 pages of shoes and the rest is a little bit of everything, both for feet and the rest of the body, including a bed back-wedge as you and I have discussed, made a little differently. You're right, there are not a lot of lower heel enclosed-toe dress-ish shoes being shown this season, but both catalogs had some. "Skimmers" (which I would call flats) are certainly out there this season.
Dove it would be cool to have you over for lasagne!
After dinner, though, I listened to Dr. Mark Hyman's PBS program on sugar as the culprit in 20 or more health problems, and mentally analyzed our meal and thought yikes, we ate pretty much like the program says not to eat! (He is counting white flour as sugar because he says it turns to sugar in the body.)
HRH needs to get up early in the morning, so I don't know why he is staying up so late!! I need to roust him out of the LR and off to bed.

Re: Tuesday Extraordinary Perseverance
Have a great "vacation," OKay! You and LO need some time away, I think. Some R&R and all that.
Casablanca sounds nice, too, Kathryn. I'm sorry I haven't been able to read every day as closely as I'd like to, but I can always go back and catch up later.
Harmony, I DESPISE buying shoes. Oh my goodness, I hate it. Good luck finding some! Summer shoes are the worst -- for all the reasons you mentioned.
Things are still about the same here -- dfil still having problem w/low blood pressure, and the pneumonia isn't all cleared up yet. He is breathing MUCH more easily, though, and is MUCH more alert. Doctor does not want to start trying to let him eat by mouth yet, for fear of aspiration, sooo... tomorrow, they are putting in a feeding tube through his nose.
I have never seen that done... and ooohhh... I do not think I could stand it, myself... but we shall see... * sigh *
My dddad is having a tough time throwing off his own case of pneumonia, and next round of chemo will be put off a week. I picked up rx cough syrup for him tonight and took it to him, and I could tell he is pretty down and out. The idea that he may be on chemo forever REALLY has him depressed. Doctor told him that only 1/3 of people with this disorder go into complete remission. I tried to tell him that doesn't mean that he will be on a 7-day-every-month schedule FOREVER... but you know, that's small comfort to him b/c he knows that I really don't know anything about it at all... so I'm just expressing wishful thinking, basically.
I know I'm being AWOL here a lot lately... but I am just running on fumes. After school today, 30 minute conversation w/disgruntled coworkers, who I strongly sympathize with and am very interested in finding out if they get satisfaction or not... then home, loaded up dh's clothes for ironing lady... dropped them off... stopped by hospital for a few minutes... back home... then ate with dh.
However, after we got our supper & I took the cough medicine to ddad, I stayed home, walked away the pounds 25 minutes, read the paper, and watched Dance Moms. I'm going to bed now.
Good night to all!

Re: Tuesday Extraordinary Perseverance
Harriet - some of those dietry issues are addressed in this months GINews
http://ginews.blogspot.com
It covers the super refined carbs and sugar thing. I think its more about daily totals than forbidding stuff. Or that may be just my impression. I think its trial and error finding what suits you as helpful nutrition.
Prayers for all storm effected in your country. We had a doozie here Monday night threatened to turn into a cyclone as it did cyclone like spin. Some places had a foot of rain basicly overnight. An elderly man living not far from dm lost his life when his car was washed away.
And today there is sunshine. sheets on the line. Some jobs are done. I'm trying to get persistant making token efforts in the PUPA/toss/clean departments. Thats the aim at least.
yoga and a mtg today.
Hugs and prayers continue for villagers dealing with "stuff" - thats people places and things. Illness and officialdom.

Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.
