Ahhhhhhh, Spring Break...I have a huge list of things I want to accomplish during the week. I was thinking about the other day's conversation concerning youth and the energy required to complete chores. Today while I worked I spent a great deal of time thinking back to when I ran a house with kids and stuff. Once I retire, I will no long use the services of the bi-monthly maids that I have employed. Two thoughts occurred to me.
When I was younger, I looked at running my house as my job. It took me a while to find P&P, but once I started working out of my box, my world changed. That thought got me to thinking about what I am doing different now than I what I did back then. I made some interesting discoveries. First, back then, I always got dressed as soon as I got out of bed. Maybe not the make-up and hair, but I was out of my PJ's. I don't do that anymore. Now a days, my week day starts at 4:45 so when the weekend comes around I reward myself with PJ's and coffee time which lasts well into the morning. Plus I usually check my email and stuff and you know how fast time can slip away with that. Second conclusion.....There WEREN't any computers back then to distract me. Duh-huh moment for me
This morning was an experiment. I did get up earlier than I usually do on the weekends, but I did stay in pj's and drank my coffee. However, I didn't lolligag around sitting on the couch. I gave myself an hour's time and then quickly changed into clothes. I had to go to a series of stores, WM being one of them. I stayed aware of my time and zoomed through those errands as apposed to meandering around. I got home and spent 4 hours planting my containers. I wasn't tired, even though I didn't not sleep very well last night. I kept mentally checking on my progress and how I felt. Think I worked just as hard as I would have when I was younger.
Tomorrow I will make some more minor adjustments. I realized that "the box" really did work for me. Now I need to figure out how to make it work when I retire. We'll see. Tomorrow I need to finish swapping out my winter/spring closet....right now it looks like something exploded in there...then I plan to work on my office. I want to empty out my entire desk and rearrange the room. In my head I think this is doable. I know it would have been when I was younger....I just need to make that mental switch of what I NEED to get done vs. what I want to get done. I love a challenge.
Hope y'all are already for sweet dreams and the week to come...Nitters y'all
