Here we are smack dab in the middle of the week -hope it's a wonderful day for you!

We went to Disney yesterday and all that walking I still only got in about 9700 steps. Hrrmmph! Enough walking though that I was up during the night with a huge cramp in my left shin. Walked that out for several minutes and ended up in the recliner. Knew if I got back in bed that I'd be doing something to cause it to cramp again. We walked in the house at 1:11 this morning -much too late for this ol' gal.

Today we're going to see my (our) old high school friend. She was my maid-of-honor when dh and I married oh so many years ago. DD is also her namesake. Wish we could take dd too, but someone has to stay with gd.

Well, wish me luck today. Shortly before we left yesterday I glanced at the news to discover that Direct Air had cancelled all flights for at least the next 2 months. DH was scheduled to fly from Lakeland, FL to Niagara Falls, NY on Friday, March 30th. I had bought two round trip tickets on a special promotion last July and neither has been used as yet. DA's comment is customers will have to contact their credit card to try to be reimbursed. Luckily we managed to get another flight out, a day earlier for dh after searching on the internet. I'll work on reimbursement after we get home today.

Good morning! I'm at work today - I stopped off this morning to buy fresh flowers and got some treats for the tax department for this morning. We're having pie this afternoon to commemorate "pi" day - 3/14

Good Morning! Wonderful Pi celebration to all.

I am up a bit late. Seems my normal 7 hours of sleep is changing to 8+ hours recently. I think increased stress factors have triggered the need for more sleep. I'll just go with it for awhile and see if my body can work its way through without getting sick.

I am thinking about using 3x5" cards for a few days to jump start me. I have WAY too many digital cards to switch totally to analog, however I feel the need for a change up. My love of touching/filing the actual cards will be a reward for doing them.

Hello to everybody on this wonderful Wednesday! It is a beautiful day here again with a bright blue sky. It was cool this morning and we had the fan in the window cooling off the house with the cool air from outside. It will be near 90° this afternoon, so we try to start the house out on the cool side.

Dee, we just found out about that airline. My DSiL was having a fit over it because she has several house guests coming in on that airline next week for the family wedding. I don't know what will happen now. We heard they weren't paying their fuel bill and all flights were cancelled and some people were fired. I wonder if this airline is going bankrupt?

I've been cleaning off my desk, taking care of a lot of those things that aren't urgent. Always feels so good to get this stuff cleared up.

I just heard that 1 family of 5 will be here next Thurs. and thurs night, plus I guess I'll have 1 DD and her 3 kids here earlier in the week for a day or 2...so next week is going to be very busy.

Waiting for a load of whites to get done so I can hang them up next.

We have rain today. I have granny duty all day today. I'm waiting for meds. to kick in before I eat something. Coffee is good this morning it's damp & cool out & has been raining but SO glad it's calm out and the winds have subsided they died down about 7:30 the wind warnings were cancelled. Thanks for the input on the Hunger Games book. I'll have to ask and see if the older two dgds have read it. But doubt they have they were not old enough for the vampire ones that were out a while back. I'm not reading any thing this week except for scriptures have not started the next book yet I need to pick one out. One went to the library unfinished by Richard Paul Evans it just was not holding my interest and s not enjoying it one of the rare times I did
not finish a book. I do not remember the title. I tried three times to read it over the past 2-3 yrs. and stalled out each time I decided it was not the book for me! I've enjoyed others by this author but this one was a miss for me.

Good morning, Dee. Wow, that's a tough situation for the airline customers.

After a difficult morning, I think the household is settling down. HRH is going to take my ddad to Best Buy to have an outing and maybe try out headphones for hearing a tv.

Got an automated phone call this a.m. that an automatically renewing prescription is waiting. Sigh. I was just there yesterday after dr's visit but didn't think to ask them to check already prepared prescriptions, too. This is one of the ways we end up with endless errands.

Both dd13 and HRH had headaches through the night by surprise. My best guess is that this is yet another first-warning of a difficult allergy spring ahead.

Harmony, your dgs's experience is the scramble dd13 and classmates are doing every end-of-quarter. Or, if the enjoyable HP or other book they had to squeeze into frantic reading didn't quite make the goal, they grab any short book from school library without caring about the subject, as long as it offers the couple of points they still lack. That's how dd learned about Egyptian embalming. I'm sure your dgs would have a laugh at that.

This sat here for a while because HRH got to the driveway and started worrying about some what-ifs in being sure he was caring for my ddad, came back inside and asked me to go with them. It's probably for the best, although nothing got done around the house. We bought the Sony headphones on the Best Buy guy's rec so we're hoping this is a good idea. They don't allow you to try them in the store, which HRH remarked would probably save them a lot of returns. He didn't really want to purchase ($110) realizing my ddad couldn't even try out the concept, but we did.

And just that quick, I'm right back with a bad report on the headphones. As soon as you plug these remote headphones in to a tv, the tv itself will stop emitting sound and only the headphones have sound, the very thing we told the salespeople we did NOT want. We wanted the ones that let the one person with headphones hear at a louder volume than others in the room. Frustrating. HRH says he may be able to do a bypass with peripherals, but really, Best Buy, with a thousand tvs playing throughout the store and even a media room with couches, should allow customers to try out a product, or at least have a demo.

Harriet, I have the wireless kind and they allow me to listen with or without the volume of the tv on. I love mine. Think Sweetie told someone else about mine and they bought the same brand and are quite pleased with it. I would go check on mine, but the "girls" are here working on the house and I can't get to that part of the house right now.

I am getting ready to make a run to home depot. I need some more potting soil. I have 3 more bigger plants to plant in the yard so I guess I'll be doing alot of hole digging today. Good exercise for the arms.

And now dd13 has called from school, still sick with the headache that never really left her, starting to turn into a "sick headache", which I know too well. She wants me to wait until she can get the assignments from the next class she will be changing into and then please come pick her up. See - THIS is what happens to days, though. When I woke up this morning, the plan was going to be housework.

Yes, Cowinkie, HRH would love to know which ones you liked, and says he may be ordering on-line anyway if we can't find some locally. There are wireless, of course, but he says he should have seen the red flag when they had such a small selection. Several times in the store, he mentioned to me seeing prices around that he happened to know were somewhat inflated - something we never used to say about Best Buy. He even had his hand on a replacement PC keyboard for me but the price was a little off his expectations, and he does keep track of these things. Their tv prices, though, in case anyone wonders, were lowest of the low, he noticed. Had we been alone together, we might have shopped for one since we want to redo our thinking on our bedroom as partial exercise/seating space.

I'm up, breakfast eaten, S2cactus clothes and ready to go outside. Today's goal is two agave's trimmed and two palo verde trees trimmed.

Yesterday I pulled up a mesquite tree (after cutting thru the tap root with an ax) and pulled up a small/medium agave. I have about 4 more agaves to pull but need to trim the palo verde trees so I can drive the Rhino under them to get to the agaves.

It works pretty good to use the water pick around the agaves and then wrap the tow strap around them and to the back hitch on the Rhino. I put it in 4-wheel drive and they come right out. Sometimes I need to dig a few roots out but the water pick loosens them right up.

Water Pick: a vertical galvanized pipe with the end pinched to make it squirt in a strong stream with horizontal pipe at the top for a connection to the hose and a shut off valve. Horizontal pipe also acts as a handle. Hook up the hose and once you turn on the valve, the vertical pipe goes down quickly and you can make a hole in most types of sand/soil, even Caliche. Caliche is a very hard layer of sand/clay that is impossible to dig thru without adding water. But the water pick does a fine job.

PS: Harriet - ours are ADVENT Wireless - we have the wireless speakers but it also comes in a headset form. Sometimes it is the TV that makes the sound cut out when the wireless gizmo is attached. We have one that cuts out and have had 3 that allow sound to come out of the TV also.
